Ayvaz "Avery" Avci

I think that might be AYVAZ “AVERY” AVCI. Last time I saw HIM was in the SLYTHERIN common room. I heard HE WORKS AS A FIRE MARSHAL AT THE HEBREDIAN BLACK DRAGON RESERVE BUT ALSO MOONLIGHTS AS A DRAGON EGG DEALER now. The 22 year old PUREBLOOD apparently looks a lot like TOLGA MENDI though I have no idea who that is. Some say he can be ENERGETIC and ADAPTABLE although, I have heard he can also be IMPULSIVE and SADISTIC. I have no idea what side he’s on, but if I had to guess, I would say THE DEATH EATERS.

It felt like Maddy hadn’t seen anyone in decades. She knew why. The attack. She wasn’t stupid but for someone who thrived on being around people and physical contact it was killing her to be so secluded. It seemed like she was the only one with a positive outlook and while that did frustrate her, she understood why. Still didn’t like it. So of course seeing Avery and Ash made her brim with joy. — maybe sometimes she was stupid but she didn’t think so.

“You’re mad because people pay attention to Ash and not you. You can admit it.” She smiled, teasing Avery. He wasn’t the kindest person but how would anyone know if they didn’t give him a chance? That’s what she did and it worked out wonderfully. Maddy was herself and this guy who tried to come off as hardened still had some spot for the overly excitable girl. He couldn’t be all bad.

As he leaned down, Maddy just smiled. His face did soften from time to time. He couldn’t be all bad. He loved creatures whereas there were so many who wouldn’t give them a chance. He couldn’t be all bad. He was who he was. Being real and true to himself was admirable — it’s how Maddy lived. For herself regardless of who liked it and who didn’t. He couldn’t be all bad.

“Impossible to ignore? Must be my girlish charm,” she said with an all knowing grin on her face. “Noted.”

“One who likes their freedom? Sounds like you. Or me,” she raised her brows. “Or both of us. Funny how creatures know who is taking care of them.” She ruffled Ash’s enthusiastic, bobbing head. “Like Ash here,” she looked up from the dog, “He knows something about you not many do.”

Avery hummed, not really agreeing with her but not disagreeing, either. At least, not until the implication of her words sunk in. “Who’s not paying attention to me? Who wouldn’t want to pay attention to this?” He gestured down his body, an action that was mostly in jest but honestly too much of his life had been a cry for attention to think himself as unnoticeable. Cute dog around or not.

He rubbed around the base of Ash’s neck and got distracted for a moment as Ash tried to nose around his pockets for treats. By the time he had fetched out a dog biscuit, he looked up to find Maddy watching him. Smiling. It made him feel like he had been caught doing... not something wrong, but maybe something that would dent his reputation. “What are you staring at, Scamander?” he asked. “I don’t have any girlish charm, if you’re finding me impossible to ignore.”

“No point in having wings if you’re not going to spread them,” he said, mentally adding or having fire if you’re not going to burn the world with it. It was what he had always loved about dragons. Why he had, at the age of four, told his parents he wanted to be a dragon when he was older but he didn’t like to talk about that as an adult, despite how much he might think his four-year-old self had the right idea. “And what’s that?” he asked, slightly baffled that maybe she was talking about his bedtime routine or something like that.

A week ago, Evie didn’t mind the date being set up by her mother. It was to be expected and she felt as though she could make it through to appease her mother and to get her off her back about finding a suitable partner. It had been years since she had let herself date. She knew little of Avery other than his reputation at Hogwarts and his once flirtatious advances. But that was years ago. The man could have easily changed in the interim. 

But now, she was absolutely dreading the set up. The run in with Dirk changed everything for her, making her realize that her feelings had not dissipated for the man no matter how hard she tried. Maybe she could get away with one date and let that be that. Hopefully, no one would catch onto the fact that her disinterest was primarily due to her heart being occupied with Dirk Creswell, even if the years had been kind to Avery’s good looks.

She arrived at their agreed meeting spot right on time and gave a light shrug with a smile. If that was the case, they could make this as quick and painless as possible. No forced small talk over food that she didn’t care for. “That’s quite alright. Truth be told, I’m not that picky, but we can just wander around. Maybe check out the bookstore or quidditch shop,” Evie suggested.

Her answer wasn’t what Avery was expecting. “To start with, you mean?” He could cope with not having a sit down meal but he didn’t know what to do with a date that was just wandering around. Plus, he was hungry. “Okay, Quidditch shop first then,” because like fuck was he going to stand around in a bookstore with her. He couldn’t think of anything more boring. “Then we can decide where we want to eat. There’s an Indian place I like but...” But he was thinking ahead now to if he really wanted curry smell on his breath. He was supposed to be seeing how they got on, right? And he didn’t see how it would work if they couldn’t even reach a point of her wanting to kiss him.

He swung his arm around her shoulders with tactile ease as he started to walk them towards Quality Quidditch Supplies. “Or we could just get street food from one of the vendors down Carkitt Market and go back to mine for drinks,” he suggested.

Bob… do I know a Bob? Gideon racked his brain for an employee of the reserve named Bob. And what kind of operation would let their employees muck around like this when dealing with deadly animals. He made a note of sending an owl to the reserves warden when he returned to London. Then Avery suggested that he should follow up with MacFusty. Noted.

Gid listened as the other explained that unfortunately the relocation of the younglings and their mother was a no go. But it meant he would be able to indulge in more of those homemade biscuits she would put out with tea every time he came around.

“Oh Dr Fergus down on the corner? The pharmacy? Yes, yes I did. Wait… you do know what a pharmacy is? Right? Avery. I need you to tell me you know what a muggle pharmacy is.” Gideon was flabbergasted. Sure he came from a pureblood family just like Avery, but he also had the spacial awareness that muggles had the knowledge of how to live and thrive without magic.

Avery examined his nails, starting to feel bored with the conversation, particularly now that it was looking likely Gideon would talk to MacFusty and insist on some stronger wards to stop the dragons going near Muggle areas. He was going to have to find a new excuse to enjoy terrorising muggles with magical fire and that was so much effort. Maybe he would be lucky, though. He wasn’t lying when he said that it was difficult to move the dragons. Hebridean Blacks did need a lot of space, being particularly violent dragons, and Hebridean islands just weren’t very big. “Can’t you just move the muggles?” he asked, despite knowing full well it didn’t work like that. He just wanted to see how much it would push Prewett’s buttons.

Fergus... that might be his name, now Gideon mentioned it, but Avery really wasn’t sure. “Good,” he said, thinking he was doing an excellent job, really, at pretending to give a shit about the mental wellbeing of the muggles.  Avery frowned and he looked slowly around like he was searching for the answer to something. “I don’t think it has anything to do with farming, Prewett. They sell sleeping potions and pain relief sweets. And condoms, weirdly enough. It’s definitely a potions shop. Just with condoms as well. Nothing you’d use in farming unless you wanted to knock your sheep out or something.”

Falling to his knee’s next to the man he had just so furiously hit, Marius sighed almost as if he were disappointed and clasped his hand around the mans neck. “Hopefully that makes thing crystal clear, now go on, fuck right off.”   It wasn’t a work thing or some sort of mission, it was just a jackass pissing Marius off.  He didn’t care much about being seen or having someone spew their opinions at him, honestly he just wanted that one guy to just shut up.  The man nodded, blood gushing from his nose, and abruptly did as Mulci said, turning and running off in the opposite direction.  “Fucker.” 

He rolled over when he woke and reached for his wand as he always did first thing to open the curtains without getting up, but his hand met an empty bedside and after some patting blindly on the wood he cracked an eye open to see his wand definitely wasn’t there. “Fucking...” he muttered to himself as he got up and checked the floor around his bed but... still no wand. It was a mystery he wasn’t in the mood to pursue so early in the morning so he put the thought off until after he had fed Ash.

The backdoor was charmed to allow the dog access to the garden, and he couldn’t get beyond the fence. It was out there that Avery found Ash, digging a hole. “Hey, breakfast,” he said, stepping forwards and stopping when he saw just what his dog had been about to bury. “Fucking hell, that’s my wand. Give me that.” He wrestled it back and only now, stood right over the hole, did he see it. “What the actual fuck, Ash?” There in the hole, were another four wands. “They’re not sticks, idiot.” He sat down and indulged Ash in the pets he was vying for. “I’ve raised a thief. I’m so proud.” Closer examination of the wands told him three he didn’t recognise at all while the fourth had a distinctive pattern he was sure had belonged to, well... someone he had killed. He bent down to pick it up, ignoring Ash growling at him, but the moment he touched the wand it banged like an explosion going off, causing Ash to race back inside and leaving red welts over Avery’s hand.

Later that day, he went to Diagon Alley. He had tried a few different things, from levitating the wands out of the hole to wearing his dragon hide gloves while handling them but he had never known wands could be so violent towards a person and while he had never been afraid of pain it was certainly annoying. So he went to ask at Ollivander’s. “Alright, cutie,” he said with a wink when he walked in. “I have a question about wands.”

Bellatrix rolled her eyes, shooting the man a look as if to say ‘obviously’ as she pushed the dog down. “Seems you’ve got your hands full with this one,” she started, the faintest trace of cold amusement laced into her expression. “I certainly hope you don’t have this much trouble controlling other aspects in your life.” A casual enough remark to make to someone; she might simply be making a joke, or referring to his work with dragons considerably more dangerous than a dog. And perhaps she was, at least partially, but there was a deeper meaning too, related to work for the Dark Lord. 

Avery reached out to grab Ash by the collar and coaxed him into sitting, giving some scritches behind the ear to calm him down. “I’ve always found life can be a lot more interesting if you let go of control,” he replied. He had never liked feeling tied down, or pressured onto a particular path. Avery thrived off chaos. He was impulsive and bad at planning and the main skill he had harnessed as a result of those two traits was an ability to adapt to any situation. He didn’t need to be in control of it. He just had to know how to work with it. “Control freaks have such a stick up their arses, don’t you think?” Was he calling Bellatrix a control freak? He didn’t particularly care if she took it that way.

“No, don’t worry, he’s fine!” Marlene laughed, bending down to give the dog a seemingly appreciated scratch behind his ears. “You’re just saying hello, aren’t you buddy?” Another laugh spilled from her before she glanced up to the man, a face she recognised from being a couple of years ahead of her at school but wasn’t overly familiar with. “He’s an awesome dog. Have you had him long?” 

He chewed his tongue in annoyance. Avery wasn’t friendly at the best of times and he felt forced into this conversation by his damn over-excitable dog. “Two years. I’ve had him since he was a puppy. He thinks he’s still a puppy.” He repeated to Ash, now in a firmer voice, “Come on,” and the dog started to chase his tail, spoilt between Marlene’s pets and being with Avery. “Fucking hell.”

Dark eyes lifted, gaze settling on a man she spent a fair amount of time with during her years at school. Being a fellow Beater with Emma on the Slytherin Quidditch team was probably something most sympathized for— she could never have been described as the most relaxed player or team captain back during her youth. Though, she could hardly say Avery was the worst person she could run into on her day off. “Do you usually come to the bookstore just to argue over Quidditch matches?” she asked, arching a brow as she smirked in the other’s direction. She noted the lack of anything in his arms, pressing further just because she could. Avery had always been entertaining to jab with during her teenage years— he never seemed to care enough to take her usual sarcasm to heart. “I always figured your reading skill matched your inability to hit a bludger.”

Together, they had made for an intense team. Avery’s intensity was less focused on competitivity and more on the aggression he put into each hit of a bludger but either way, the other Houses knew to look out when they were on the pitch. “What else is there to do in a bookstore?” he asked with a shrug. “Books aren’t as interesting as bludgers. Most of them aren’t big enough to do very much but I’d be happy to hit some at you if you really want to test my aim.” Given his grumbles had usually been the loudest when she put the team through drills back in school, this was perhaps the most enthusiasm he had shown for this sort of thing before. Then again, his happy place in Quidditch had always been when he had free reign just to bash some bludgers around without restraint.

“Why would I push him off, Avery?” Maddy smiled, petting and ruffling the familiar dog’s short hair. “You should know by now that I love Ash to pieces.” 

Avery and Maddy weren’t strangers – although Maddy would never consider anyone a stranger. The two were together at Hogwarts. Very different houses but Maddy never let that stop her. She put herself out there to anyone who would listen. Perhaps surprisingly to some, Avery was one of those people. They spent most of their time together pouring over the greatness creatures were. He hated hearing about flobberworms, but sucked it up until they got back to the “more interesting” ones. The rest of their time, some might call, a bit of flirtation.

Maddy often came across as naive and living somewhere in the clouds but the girl liked people. Really liked people. She liked closeness and kissing, snogging, cuddling, tickling, passion, partying. She liked …living. She was loving in every sense of the word. She enjoyed having fun and sometimes that fun was questionable but it worked for her.

“Haven’t seen you ‘round these parts lately,” Maddy looked up at him with her big brown eyes. “Where you been? Not ignoring me, of course.”

They were complete opposites and maybe it shouldn’t work but it did. Anybody else and he would be irritated by Maddy’s persistent positivity but it was okay because she wasn’t like that to fake through life. She was unapologetically herself and Avery liked that about her. If her bubbliness started to grate on him then all he had to do was get her worked up about the mistreatment of winged horses or imply he thought mooncalves were stupid. And he loved it when a friendship could come with extra benefits, too.

“Because it takes me half an hour to walk five minutes down the street when he’s around,” he said, but Maddy would know that he wasn’t really complaining. There was nothing he was fonder of than Ash and it was obvious in the way he crouched down next to the two of them and gave the dog his own pets.

Where you been? There was the question that had the power to sour things between Maddy and him. He generally avoided political talk with her, or anything related to the war but he wondered sometimes if she had figured out which side he stood with. His left forearm seemed to itch under his sleeve but he didn’t mention that he had been here not so long ago, it’s just that he had been wearing a mask at the time. “It’s impossible to ignore you, Maddy. I’ve been at work, mostly. The babies are all growing up now and we’ve got one who likes his freedom so he takes up most of my time.”

As Gideon turned to face the approaching wizard, he couldn’t believe it. “Had you flown here?” He asked, throwing his head back in exasperation, “The affect of multiple memory charms in quick succession is not good for any brain, muggle or wizard.” Avery was an ok guy, a little brutish and hostile, but Gideon had not had the pleasure of meeting a snake that wasn’t.

“I mean, cant you install an repulsing charm on the backside of protection charm to work on the dragons? Or at least place something that could deter them?” Gideon was not well versed in dragon care outside of what was taught at Hogwarts (which was nothing more then names and physical attributes). And he did not see the point in wasting his or Avery’s time trying to appear he did. 

“That’s the thing though, I’m not a dragon keeper. I work for the ministry in protecting the lives and mental states of the muggles.” Gideon said, shrugging his shoulders, “and the muggles probably settled here cause its beautiful, has good crop land, and to them, dragons are imaginary. its not like estate agents have prospective buyers check here if they want dragons local”. He gave the younger wizard a smile, understanding that dragons weren’t really trainable, let alone adolescents.

“Whats on the other side of the reserve? Is there any way you can resettle the nest there and,” Gideon held his arms out wide somewhat like a hug,” navigate them in a particular direction?” Gideon was just searching his mind for some kind of alternative.

Avery was honestly baffled by the question. It didn’t occur to him that Muggles shouldn’t see a wizard flying and he had definitely forgotten by this point that he had left Prewett waiting while he took the dragon home. He looked at the broomstick over his shoulder and frowned. “I was chasing Bob.” That was all the answer he gave to his flying.

“Maybe that’s something you need to talk to my boss about,” he said with a careless shrug although he regretted his words almost immediately. If Prewett did talk to MacFusty, then all Avery’s fun might come to an end. “There are some spells but these islands used to be theirs. They have to fly and it’s not their fault muggles came along and stole their land.” Part of him was always going to argue just to be contrary but in part this was one of the few topics he could get truly passionate about. What had once just been a childhood fascination was now his career and though the patterns of their settlement wasn’t actually part of his job description, he knew that the only way the species had survived without being relocated completely was by diminishing numbers.

“The ocean,” he said dryly. “We could move one to Jura but there’s only space there for one. I don’t know. I just wrangle them and stop them burning the place down. Did you obliviate the bloke who owns their weird muggle potions shop? Because I had to put out a fire there.” The little time between setting the fire and having to control it again ready for the Ministry’s arrival was exhilarating enough that it took all his effort not to grin.

If there was one thing Avery thought he would never have to worry about, it was arranged marriages. It was a more Muggle concept in Turkey and his parents had married for love (before divorcing for hate) and so it had never been on their radar to look for a match on Ayvaz’s behalf. His mother, ever the liberal, saw no reason why they had to engage with the British pureblood frenzy to pair the teenagers off before they had to resort to ‘sullied’ lines and his dad was too laidback about his children’s lives to concern himself with such things.

Then came along the Notts.

Evie was a pureblood and her father a friend of Burak’s, so that was dad happy while Adalet thought she was sweet and might be good for Ayvaz somehow. He was rolling his eyes at his mother’s back when his parents realised she might be the one girl they agreed was suitable for him and they put on a united front for the first time since before the divorce. Fuck if he knew how to respond to that. Just spend time with her, they told him. Make an effort and see if you get on! As if they hadn’t already been at school together and yet not grown close. She had never accepted any flirtatious advances he had made in the past, either. Still, nobody was expecting a proposal (yet) (he hoped) so maybe he could handle a few dates.

“Hi. I haven’t booked anywhere,” he admitted upfront. Honestly, he had forgotten he was supposed to be going out with her this evening until his mother had sent him an owl with a list of dos and don’ts, but he wasn’t going to go as far as to admit that. Instead, in an attempt to look more conscientious than horrific at forward-planning, he added, “I wasn’t sure what type of food you like.”

- Has their allegiance changed or has it grown stronger?

Avery’s allegiance has grown stronger as he becomes more settled in the Death Eaters. He first joined more out of rebellion than anything else but it gives him an outlet for his aggression. His sadism is reinforced in the Death Eaters and that has been the reason for his remaining allegiance.

- What has led them to be on the side they’re on?  (familial ties, personal choice etc)

Avery’s father, Burak, is also a Death Eater. He was part of Tom Riddle’s gang in Hogwarts and was seduced by his political agenda. When Avery was nine, Burak took the Dark Mark. Until that point, British politics hadn’t particularly played a part between Burak and his wife (Avery’s mum) Adalet, despite them living in Britain. Their romance had been somewhat of a whirlwind and their focus had been in other places. The Dark Mark on her husband’s arm made Adalet realise that he wasn’t all she had thought and she was unable to forgive him for both his views and the lies that kept them from her. They divorced.

Avery was never able to reconcile the idea of his once loving, united family and his mother’s decision to leave. He was too young to see where lies and discord had already come between his parents. While he alternated between both homes, he took his father’s side because, in his mind, it was Adalet being unreasonable. She was the one who wasn’t being supportive enough of Burak’s choices in life.

The teenage rebellion that followed had a particular focus in acting out against his mother. This included getting himself expelled from her alma mater and transferring to Hogwarts, willing the Sorting Hat to put him in Slytherin and befriending the children of his dad’s old friends. They led him to following in his dad’s footprints, straight into the Death Eaters from school.

- Where do they see themselves after the war?

Hopefully just still playing with fire and dragons. The war isn’t really changing how he lives his life, it’s just making it slightly easier to get away with things because someone gave him a mask and he’s gonna use it.

-What does your character hope to achieve during the war?

He’s just here to have a good time and watch the world burn

-If your character could speak to a younger version of themselves, what do you think they would say?

“Go with dad.” (bc some bitches never learn)

- What are some new or unshared head cannons you have for your character?

There is an actual Avery family in England who were mentioned in the Pureblood Directory, though they are close to dying out and less ‘pure’ than they once were. Someone messed up the paperwork when Burak first immigrated to Scotland with his parents and a series of misunderstandings and Turks not understanding Scots (and vice versa) and somehow ‘Avci’ got misfiled as ‘Avery’. They never bothered to fix it, in part because it helped to navigate the class system.

The Sorting Hat did want to put Avery in Gryffindor but he wasn’t having it and Slytherin was the next best suit for him anyway

Well….that was one she hadn’t heard in a while. The name was enough to make her pause. It had been a while since she had seen Sev. Even longer since she talked to him. Somehow she managed to keep the smile on her face, though she could feel it already close to dropping. Deep breath in, slowly out. “I believe some know me as such, yes.” She finally looked up as she spoke. She recognized him. Slytherin. He was on the quidditch team though she couldn’t remember as what. “Unfortunately, we’ve drifted apart.” He called her a mudblood and got into his group that all seemed to hate her. It was pretty easy to distance herself considering. “It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other. Just keeping busy. Are you sure I can’t help you with something? If you’d rather I can page some of the healers from Creatures to come down here for you.” 

“What a shame,” Avery said, though there was a clear lack of sincerity in his voice. If he remembered rightly, it had been a bit of a thing that Snape was so close with her because she was a mudblood. Such a thing had never really bothered Avery that much. His parents had very opposing views on muggle rights and it was less that he agreed with his dad and more that he had been trying to rebel against his mum since he was nine. But that didn’t mean he cared about any of them. It just meant his not caring wasn’t dependent on who their parents were. “Did something happen?” he asked, not that interested in the answer, just trying to prod at potential sore spots. “I’m sure. I doubt you’ve been a Healer long enough to have a solid experience in dragon bites.”

closed w/ @ayvcery location : outskirts of small muggle village outside of the hebredian black dragon reserve

“I’ll make sure to tell her you asked after her Ms. Hill. Have a great day” Gideon called as he walked down the small path leading from the garden of the last house in the village. Ms. Hill was a sweet older muggle, widowed years earlier, who was a “friend”. Well… kinda.

Ms. Hill was a friend out of convince and so Gideon wouldn’t feel so bad. He was aware of the affects multiple memory altering charms can have on someone. So for this village in particular, he had created a persona. Now that seems like a lot of work right? Well… it would be if he hadn’t had to show up here at least once a month to obliviate the 30 some odd muggles that lived here. So he had created a caricature of himself, a son of the village, that had moved away to the big city, but made trips back “home” when he could. His wife, “Georgette”, had just welcomed their son, “Olli” and that is why she wasn’t visiting with him.

Gideon kicked a small, soot covered rock down the small footpath into the forest. This path used to be overgrown and hard to follow, but the past year has seen Gideon walk it more then he would like. Granted, it meant it was busy at work, but to have to do this same task over and over again was grating. He came to a stop, glancing behind his shoulder, and leaning against a old large pine. He knew the one he was meeting would be a bit late, he always was. He glanced down at his wristwatch, before leaning his head against the bark of the tree.

The noise of approaching steps, caused Gideon to sigh loudly, before saying “Avery…. you have got to figure out how to keep the younglings in your territory. If a muggle gets to close to one, its gonna be a hell of a lot of cleanup when their mum thinks her babies are in danger…”

There was nothing he loved more than the power of fiendfyre. Fire in general, actually. Avery loved everything about it and he always had. It was brilliant. His job was even better, because surely most children went through a phase of being obsessed with dragons? He certainly had, and now he got to spend his days playing with dragons and setting controlled fires to burn away the heathland so that it wouldn’t spread. And, okay, so technically his job was putting out the fires caused by the dragons, not deliberately letting one of the adolescents fly a bit too close to a nearby muggle village than he should for his own entertainment, but why would he pass up the perfect excuse of no, I didn’t start the fire, Bob did.

Unfortunately, all fun had to come to an end. If he didn’t want to risk his job or his freedom, he had to make a show of putting out the fire and by then Prewett had arrived to do his memory charms and wanted to talk. (The Ministry were so boring). Avery took his time getting young Bob back to the reserve, which he had to admit was not the easiest of tasks as dragons generally don’t do well with direction. Still, he wasn’t that fussed about leaving Prewett hanging about and figured he should be thanked for apparating back to the village instead of flying. He hadn’t even taken the time to put his broom away, and so he approached the obliviator with it swung over his shoulder. “I’d like to see you tell a teenage dragon he can’t spread his wings. Why would they even build a village this close to the reserve? Everyone knows Hebridean Blacks need more space than other breeds.”

There was nothing more annoying than when he had to bring his dog to the veterinarian. Usually, when Avery walked Ash, it was out on the isolated hills of the Isle of Harris and so he forgot just how friendly the labradane was with other people. In a way that made Ash a startling contrast to his owner. Avery continued to swear under his breath as the dog tore away from him to say hello to somebody new. “Just push him off. Ash, come on.”

She knew an event like this might happen when she went into healing. There was no reason to think it would all but just minor cuts and bruises. That would be silly of her. But something like this? The attacks? Masked people causing havoc for no reason? That she wasn’t sure about. It’s why she was doing what she was doing with the Order. The last thing she was going to do was sit by. It’s why she hadn’t left yet. She couldn’t just sit around and do nothing. Not until she couldn’t help anymore. She had just finished with a patient, going back to the healer’s station where the hallways met. She was making a few notes when she sensed someone in front of her. Putting down her quill, she looked up and put on the best smile she could. “How can I help you?”

He had been hit and he so wanted to ignore it, but it had reopened a previous wound, a nasty injury from one of the dragons on the reservation. Avery had hoped to slip through the hospital unnoticed to find the Healer who usually saw to him, one who was fantastically discrete. As he turned the corner however, there was a Healer, offering up her help. “Ah, I don’t think you can, thanks. I was just on my way to creature-induced injuries. I know the way.” It was bugging him, though, the little niggle in his head that he recognised her. Hogwarts, no doubt, but she wasn’t one of the children of friends of his dad who he mostly hung out with there, nor did he think she had been on the Quidditch pitch. So why, why why... ah! “You’re Snape’s girl.” He stated it like it was fact. He recognised her because he had to remember she was off-limits, back when he was a seventh year tired of being at that bloody school and Snape was a fifth year he had taken under a wing of protection so that’s all he had ever thought of her as.
