Always Number 2

She shouldn’t be pissed.  After all, he was a cowboy, she was a wandering musician, both their jobs had them roaming where the hell ever doing…whatever they felt like.  Whatever they did for a paycheck.  She should be fine with this.  Meet up wherever, whenever…and lose him again just as quickly.  For a long time.

…A really long time.

It was stupid.  He wouldn’t care to hear it.  She’d be the one who put baggage on him.

…Then again she couldn’t think of anything better to say.

“You were gone too long.  I was starting to think you didn’t want to see me again.”  Her tone was lighter than she felt, making it half a joke.

He’d usually chuckle at most things but her answer didn’t bring a smile or any noise of amusement. Hol’s blue eyes settled on her, not changing at all his sudden stern expression as he spoke once again. 

Hol was a man of instincts. Many knew he did the thinking with the lower head, but he also had good instincts when it meant to his own survival. The fact that he could come almost unscathed in a battle by fleeing before the could manage to attack said a lot of him. 

And here he was, in the same bar with a rather strange woman that reeked of danger. 

It had been a while since the cowboy remained in this city, mostly because of a particular flower shop owner. He was still a womanizer at heart, but something about the tenderness of the blonde woman had managed to steer him out from his desires; his attention seemed always focused on her and her alone. They weren’t in a serious relationship, sure, but it seemed obvious that it could be a perfectly logical outcome if he kept seeing her so much. 

He wasn’t expecting for Erin to be mad at him. Surely, he had been away for a rather long time, but such was the type of lifestyle the cowboy had set for himself. The subtle, amused expression Hol had towards his acquaintance suddenly turned into confusion. He quickly walked towards the other in attempt to stop her from leaving the bar, a hand reaching for her wrist and holding to it.

“Cowboys don’t dream, cutie. At least I haven’t had a dream I can call ‘mine’ in years.”

“Light blue, just like the big ol’ sky above us.”

She grinned and wrapped her arms around him. “I may not gamble but I’m sure its a safe bet you know how to treat a lady.” She hummed as she kissed him back. His lips made her blush a bit, but it was a very welcomed feeling that she missed dearly.

“I try not to get like that. Old habits die hard, though. I know it’s work for two – I’d never break my end of it.”

There came a clever and playful smirk from her as she was tempted to kiss him them and there. Kudos to him for remembering how she adored to be teased like this. Still, a girl doesn’t like being held up for too long right?

“Then why wait cowboy~? Just say the word and I’ll be ready.~”

“Ready, huh? I ain’t gonna stop if ya tease me like that. I’ll go like a young stallion...” His lips curled slightly as he dared to move his head closer, lips brushing more than before.
