I just keep imagining logging in to see the pop-up "Sorry! You have unfotunately been stabbed by [Username] but don't worry! You took them down with you! >:) Your account will now be deleted." And the only way to proceed is to click "ok" which boots you into the account creation menu. I crave the anarchy of it all.

There probably wouldn't be a pop up.

One day one might discover that logging in does not work, and that one's username is suddenly on the hall of shame. :)

players are called “fiends” (All are evil)

if pets are made to be able to reproduce, they do so asexually.

“Lore”:

The “friends” are illegal to own, but are known to be beneficial or profitable. This is why “fiends” keep a low profile by default. No matter the crime, all criminals are basically outlawed.

but fr this definitely is something id love! i for some reason adore the idea lf accounts getting deleted for random reasons that sounds like a lot of fun actually, like. all or nothing! and the idea that it gets harder to keep them the more pets you have is perfect - i have a terrible habbit of hoarding critters on pet sites and then getting overwhelmed :(

tldr this is my new favorite pet site ever period

There will probably be a limit on how many pets one can have, not sure how I want it to work though.

Owning more than a certain amount of pets counts as hoarding and the player becomes wanted for their crime. Maybe?

what if there’s a pet that’s a dog and it starts out looking like a normal dog, but as time passes it starts to grow more and more human arms until it’s just arms. it then melts into a puddle, stays like that for a few days, and then the cycle repeats

A fun idea, but it would probably take more effort than I’d like to implement.

So I am loving this idea, although I have on suggestion. If you decide that yes, account deletion/player game over is a thing (which is a cool twist on the pet game genre) Either Account recreation/Creation needs to be speedy. Maybe have the account connected to the email/id be fine but all pets and other progress are deleted. I just think you might drive people away from the site if you make account creation too tedious.

The main reason for account deletion is limited resources. I don't plan on making any meaningful profit and therefore won't/can't pay for a bigger database etc.

Only a unique username and long enough password will be required for account creation. (Usernames can be reused upon death.)

I don't expect people to stay long as players, and do not want that either because I don't have the money to actually keep the thing working properly in that case. :D

Game goal?

I wonder if it’d be a good idea to have some kind of goal in the game, or several goals such as:

- owning a certain number of rare pets at one time (3? 5?)

- owning a certain amount of in-game currency

Achieving a goal earns you a spot in the hall of fame (probably forever?). They should be hard enough that very few can achieve them ever.

Not really related, but I think it would be fun to have a hall of shame. Every player death within the month(?) is listed there as well as the cause of death.

The amount of days the player has stayed alive for is going to be recorded, if this is possible to implement with what I have.

I think a funny idea to sorta manipulate the whole ‘your pets can try to kill you thing’ would be, after you reach a certain number of pets, a bunch of them will have a small chance of hating a new one, and be like ‘get rid of them or we rebel’. Extra funny if that ends up happening with a rare one and you have to kid rid of it or risk deletion.

In that case I would make the pets' relationships to each other basically invisible to the player.

It's chicken simulator, but the chickens are much more secretive about their social lives.
