The fanfic comic is called Voyage to the South.
Mk and Mei explored (playing) in Monkey King's 'collection'. As they were goofing around the legendary (unbreakable) staff snapped into two pieces.
The two contemplated pushing up the daisies when they were suddenly surprised by the staff's glowing aura. Within a few seconds, the illuminated staff pulls Mk and Mei- holding onto Mk's ankles- down to the southern hemisphere towards a mystic land inhabited by a forgotten troop of monkeys and vindictive spectre.
Will they be able to repair the staff before it's too late?
