At her explanation, Hyunseok found himself tilting his head as she spoke. He, personally, couldnât understand or relate to the particular fear that she was talking about, but he had to remind himself that her circumstances were so much different than his own. âStill afraid of me running away?â It was hard not to notice how she averted her gaze. His hand found its way under her chin, gently tilting it up in an effort to catch it again, to regain that contact. âWell, I havenât yet, have I?â he questioned with a smile tugging at a single corner of his lips.
But the smile was short-lived as she continued on, and a soft sigh escaped him as he thought about his options. âThe thing is,â he began, reaching out to take her free hand in one of his own, âI donât want to make a decision for you. Because this is just as much about you as it is about me. And I donât want to come up with a solution that would make you unhappy or uncomfortable or unsatisfied.â He himself found his gaze turning towards the floor as thoughts whirred in his mind.
âBut I think.. To answer your question,â he trailed off, giving himself another moment to think before locking his gaze onto hers again, âFor me, I donât see myself with anyone else. And I donât plan on leaving you or looking for someone else for any reason, so Iâd be comfortable saying that weâre a couple.. But thatâs just me, and we donât have to do anything like that if youâre not happy or comfortable with it.â
Although she had tried to keep their eyes from meeting, Hyunseok wasnât going to let that happen. He was going to make sure that she was looking him in the eyes when he assured her. His emotions had always been easy for her to read. So, when she heard him speak and say that he wasnât going anywhere, she knew that he genuinely believed that to be the case. That he genuinely didnât want to go anywhere and that he was happy where he was with her. As it often did when he was around, her heart skipped a quick beat.
âIâm not⌠Like, Iâm not against the idea of being in a relationship with you, obviously. Iâm just scared. Iâve built up all these horrible things that will happen to me if I enter a relationship and itâs hard to get over them. Even this far in a year, where you havenât given me any reason to doubt you or think that something is going to happen,â she said, her eyes looking at his face. He was handsome. There were so many beautiful women surrounding him all the time. Yet, he hadnât strayed. He hadnât gone with any of them. He stuck with her, even though she was damaged both inside and out.
âI think, well, I think that the only way that Iâm going to stop being a weak bitch about relationships is to be in a relationship. SoâŚ. Iâm going to have to get comfortable saying that weâre a couple, because we are. I love you, that hasnât changed since I started to experience love fully while spending time with you.â
