Come join the dark side we have Prosecco Rosquez...
Rosquez vs. Sebschumi comparison table by the very lovely @kingofthering
9x World Champions Valentino Rossi (#46) and Marc Márquez (#93) have the most mind boggling "rivalry" ever. They have been feeding the media beast for the past DECADE. You can pick sides but it literally doesn't matter -- you cannot MotoGP without either of them. The entire grid (including Marc) grew up watching Valentino, and Marc is the reigning champion. Valentino mentors a handful of really competitive Italian riders on the grid, so the "rivalry" is very much alive and well.
We're not quite sure where they're going.
In addition to Rosquez, we have a fine selection of Aussie champions:
5x World Champion Mick Doohan (left) and 2x World Champion Casey Stoner (right)
You might know Mick's son, Jack, who drove for Alpine last season. Mick worked as a construction worker at some point, got into road racing, got injured, almost had his leg amputated, came back and became one of the most dominant riders in MotoGP history. In That Order. Mick Schumacher is named after him.
Casey (#27) probably has the best "redemption arc" in recent history. He won in 2007 and 2011 with two different factory teams, pulled a Nico Rosberg and retired in 2012. He was twenty-seven. People used to hate him because he was always complaining about something. He hated media. He wasn't even enjoying the races. He was Squidward on two wheels.
Turns out he had severe anxiety and went years without being diagnosed. Race days literally triggered his anxiety. He was massively talented, so revisionist MotoGP fans look back on his career with a lot of fondness.
We have some really great personalities and a lot of drama. For me, the language barrier hasn't been an issue. I don't mind subtitles, and the Italian/Spanish MotoGP community here is super friendly.
