Inktober day #2
A new volume of the official English translation of Haikyuu!! is released on the first Tuesday of every month. After reading volume 28 (which was released the day I drew this) I decided to draw Bokuto as an owl because why not? His design already has a strong resemblance to an owl. Et voilĆ , the BokutOwl. Iāve actually finished all 31 of my Inktober drawings as of tonight! I just got terribly behind on photographing and posting them (obviously,) so Iāll be posting them over the next few days. Materials: Daler-Rowney FW Acrylic Artists Ink in Purple Lake, Nikko G nib, Tachikawa T-40 nib holder, Borden & Riley # 234s Paris Paper for Pens
Inktober day #1
Kind of a self-portrait? I drew this based off of a reference photo I took of myself for another drawing.
I did this on a new paper that I got that seems somewhat delicate; if you go over it with the pen more than once it starts to pill a little.

Inktober day #26-31!
Day #26 - The Jeopardous Jade Djinn Gem from The Heroās Guide to Storming the Castle by Christopher Healy. I have mixed feelings about this one--I was pretty tired that day and didnāt have much time to do an Inktober drawing. I considered just skipping that day and making the 26th drawing the next day, but decided to just do something simple because Iād done each drawing on that day so far and didnāt want to stop. I am planning on coloring this with watercolor, so I kept the lines pretty minimal.
Day #27 - For some reason Iād been kicking around a Baba Yaga-style teapot with legs for a couple of days.
Day #28 - Another mushroom! This time I wanted to make a stereotypical toadstool-type fly agaric.
Day #29 - A lanner falcon! Iām pretty sure I accidentally gave it a hawk beak, though.
Day #30 - An oak leaf and an acorn. Aside from the place where my pen spat ink and I put my hand in wet ink, Iām really happy with this because it shows how much more control I have when inking now compared to when I started Inktober.
Day #31 - I wanted to do something character-related because Iād been doing a bunch of other non-charactery things for most of the month. I wanted to draw someone trick-or-treating and decided that, if Baymax were to dress up as another Disney character, heād definitely be Winnie-the-Pooh.
Somehow, on days 28-31, I managed to either a) have a blob of ink randomly happen in the middle of drawing a line, b) put my hand in ink that was still wet, or c) both every day. Frustratingly enough, these are some of the drawings where Iām the happiest with the actual quality of the lines.

Inktober day #25 Finally got to drawing the Nice Cream from Undertale! I was feeling a little intimidated by this one for some reason, but I'm pretty happy with how this turned out!
Inktober day #21-24
Day 21 - Stormfly / Deadly Nadder. This one gave me bear of a time sketching it out, but Iām pretty happy with the inking.
Day 22 - I did this one using a G nib instead of my now-standard Blue Pumpkin. I felt like I started to have a little bit more control of the nib by the time I was done, and discovered that a huge benefit to using a nib that is actually meant for drawing is that you can drag the nib sideways more smoothly.
Day 23 - I finished watching Voltron season 4 on the 22nd and was looking at the Wikipedia page when I read that the 23rd was Keithās birthday. Iām a little on the fence about this one because I followed the reference I was looking at a little too closely and made a bunch of inking mistakes. On the plus side, Iāve definitely developed a sense of what I want out of my lineart?
Day 24 - Back to my familiar Blue Pumpkin, but it dumped ink on this drawing three times before I managed to figure out what was causing it. It turns out that you canāt hold the pen + nib too vertically, or else it will dump the ink on the nib onto your paper.
Inktober day #20
I was working on a drawing of a Deadly Nadder, but I was having trouble getting it to look right. Instead of giving up and inking it anyway, I decided to do a quick study of an Icthyornis dispar skull I saw on Wikipedia. According to Wikipedia, āIt was the first known prehistoric bird relative preserved with teeth.ā Neat!
Inktober day #19
I was pretty tired and started todayās drawing rather late, so I bounced between several ideas before settling on another mushroom. This one is based on a Boletus reticulatus, or summer cep.
I originally stopped before adding the texture and felt pretty meh about it. I was going to call it a night when I looked at more photos of summer ceps and decided to add some dirt texture and scribbly shading, and now Iām pretty pleased with it.
Inktober day #18
I was listening to some of The Secret World of Arietty and decided to draw a furin.

Inktober day #17
Shimeji mushrooms! Theyāre really close to my Platonic ideal of a mushroom and theyāre really cute.
Inktober day #16 A moth flew into my tea yesterday. This is a pretty common occurance, but yesterday was the first day that I started to drink the moth. I felt something that felt rather like a tea leaf in my mouth, and when I spat it out, there was a dead moth on my hand.
I got super behind on posting mu Inktober drawings, but I havenāt fallen behind on actually making these each day! *knocks on wood*
Day 10 - Magpie! This is the first drawing this Inktober that I did an ink wash over. Itās also the only one in this set done in black ink.
Day 11 - I was going to draw a bushtit, but then this happened. This one was a stinker because I was going to use my G nib in my Speedball holder like I did the day before, but it fell out into my bottle of ink. I had to pour the ink into another container, fish the nib out, and then pour the ink back into the original bottle using a makeshift funnel I made out of paper and packing tape.
Day 12 - This was what I was goig for the previous day: a super round, fat, totally adorable bird.
Day 13 - Tired again, so more birb. A barn owl this time.
Day 14 - Bicicle from Undertale! Freehanding diagonal lines with a dip pen is rather difficult, and going over the same diagonal line twice does not really make things any better.
Day 15 - I was going to draw a nightjar, but then I decided that potoos are way more entertaining. They look like muppets! I felt like I finally had more control over the nib with this one.
Days 10 and 11 were done with a G nib, the rest were done with a Brause blue pumpkin.
Inktober day #9 I had another long day, so today's drawing is just a quick one.
Inktober day #8
Todayās entry into the Undertale food that I have in the game so far series is Monster Candy! Iāve discovered that most of the food that Iām drawing doesnāt have an in-game sprite, which is kinda fun and challenging at the same time. It definitely makes me think more about the design of each item before I draw it.

Inktober day # 7
One week down!
I returned to the Undertale food that I have in the game with Spider Cider. I included bits of spider because itās āmade with whole spiders, not just the juice.ā Somehow, I donāt feel like this one fits the design sensibility of the game as much as the Spider Cider I drew for day 4, but Iām still pretty pleased with how this turned out.

Inktober day #6
I was super tired again and almost didnāt do a drawing on 10/6. Fortunately, my sister encouraged me to keep going, and Iām happy she did! This is the first year that Iāve been so consistent about doing a drawing each day.
I was going to draw a European robin, but then drew this after getting distracted by @fat-birds
