Molly is a teacher. People pay her to teach their children. As long as that tuition balance is at $0, Molly (or any teacher) is not owed anything by any dancer. She is supposed to invest in her students and make them into the best dancers she can because she is their teacher and that is the service their parents are paying for. Do we understand?
When a child transfers schools, do you see people say they owe their math teacher since the math teacher is the reason they can do all the math they know today? No! Because that is not how being an educator works. You pour into children because that is your job (and hopefully your passion). You pour into them so that they can be the best they can be for them, not for you.
If you love that kid, you let them go and you don’t expect anything from them. If you treated that child well, hopefully they’ll thank you and give you some credit along their journey. If you didn’t (and I’m not saying this is the case with Dyllan, I’m speaking in general here), then it is you who owes that child something- something being an apology.
I feel like I had to give a very similar answer last season when lots of kids switched from oc to p21 and y’all still aren’t getting it? What’s not clicking?
Everyone needs to understand that a studio may just be a stop on a child’s journey. There’s no telling how long that stop will be, but the people at that studio should give their best to every child who stops through. They should also understand that no child is tethered to one studio or one teacher. There may come a time when that child is ready to move on to their next stop and as a teacher, you should be confident that you’ve lovingly prepared that child for whatever their next stop may bring them. Be grateful for the kids you have the opportunity to teach because what is a teacher without students? Be proud of the work you’ve done, wish them well, and move on. That is the life of an educator.

when you create your costumes, how do you make sure your jewels/gems don’t fall off? ive been seeing lots of dancers’ comp pics that show many of their jewels falling off while dancing

but even still dancers are moving and throwing themselves around so nothing is perfect. I see earrings fall off more than stones on costumes
Sorry just piggybacking off this post to ask something I’ve been wondering for years: how do you wash a costume? Like do you have to go to one of those professional places or can you just chuck em in the machine? Or do most people just not wash them
I soak them in warm water and dreft (baby detergent), then in plain cold water, then dry them flat out side but only if it’s a used costume or something that I’m reselling. If not, it’s not really necessary to wash a costume you wear 30 min at a time .
