Fourth Grade Independent Sculptures and Artist Critiques
For their final project of Lower School art, fourth grade students were for several weeks on an open-ended sculpture project.
Using the possibilities closet on the fourth floor, as well as materials found around the classroom and on their own, students created their own 3D artwork over the course of several weeks.
After looking at several modern and contemporary sculptors, the students found materials of their own to use. Some students chose to work with a specific idea or image in mind, while others chose to make a more abstract work.
After two weeks of making their sculptures, the students had a wonderfully thoughtful artist critique. Students took turns asking questions, making comments, and speaking about their work.
Above is a selection of images documenting their weeks of work, as well as their final critiques.
A big huge congratulations to all the fourth grade students on a wonderful year of work in fourth grade art. Please come back to visit us!
