(Maple, Yew, Glimmer, Alloy)
Reluctant Gift-Givers
Maple was sprawled out on Glimmer’s couch, arms crossed, looking agitated. He and Yew were in hiding after a failed robbery of a rich lair and were actively hunting the two thieves down. Now they had to wear skins and apparel not at all suited to them to keep cover. This wasn’t the first time Maple’s been in this predicament, and Glimmer luckily let him and his partner in crime take refuge in her small home in Starwood Strand. It was a nice little cabin in the woods, with orb lights infused with Light magic to give it a warm glow and easy to find at night.
Yew sat lazily in an arm chair, reading a book to pass the time. Glimmer’s little cauldron-spawned son, Alloy was sat on the ground playing with blocks. Glimmer padded into the living room with her bag of alchemy tools.
“I’m going to the village for the night, Veda needs me. I’ll be back sometime tomorrow. Do you mind looking after Alloy for me?” she asked.
Maple grumbled. He hated kids. Yew reassured Glimmer that they’d look after the little mirror.
“Oh, and make sure to hand out stuff for the trick-or-treaters tonight,” the imperial reminded them.
“What are we supposed to give them?” Maple muttered.
Glimmer brushed him off, “Whatever you can find,” she said before walking out the door.
Maple reluctantly started grabbing trinkets and anything else he could find into a large sack. He left it by the front door for anyone who decided to disturb them.
“Y’know, we wouldn’t be stuck here if everyone handed out free stuff all the time,” Maple said jokingly. Yew let out a little grunt of amusement.
This was going to be a long night.
