A/N: at the ending, I kinda wanted to do the “ thanks I’m fine goodbye,” thingy with reader running out of the room doing some weird shit. But that kind of wouldn’t fit the story right.
Three thousand miles away I'm feeling something desperate Came with one life to change so you're the one I left with (I) I think I found myself in the new light today (So I) so I let these chemicals and poison lead the way
You're in your head again, this place has got you trembling I'll be your medicine if you help write the alternate ending (I) I thought I found myself in the new light today (So I) but the darkness inside me it pushes you away
Chris came home to a sight that he hadn’t seen for a while. You were sitting in the corner of the Livingroom. Your body was shaking, you didn’t seem to be aware of him. Chris crouched down beside you, trying to shake you out of your head. He hated how your anxiety had taken over your life. During the years, his anxiety had died down to a state where he easily could help you with yours, without dragging himself down. “Hey, I’m here,” He whispered in your ear, holding you close to his body.
He put his hand on your head, guiding it down to his chest. The sound of his heart beating was a sound that usually helped you get yourself back together. Not today, today was different, this was one of the biggest anxiety attacks that you had had to cope with. You crumbled up into a ball as your chest started hurting. Your head was spinning and your breathing had gone into hyperventilating. It was getting worse and worse by each second you spend with your anxiety.
“Chris?” You asked in a whisper, finally acknowledging his presence. “Yes, I’m here. Please talk to me, what’s wrong,” Chris was starting to panic himself now. You didn’t talk to him for a little while, not until you were sure that he had calmed down himself.
“How?” You wiggled your head out of his grip, looking him in the eyes. Tears were falling down your cheeks. “Shh…” he said, Chris had taught you about the shushing method a long time ago. It was advice that someone once had given him. Now it was his time to use it on someone else than himself. “It’s all in your head, it’ not giving up if you let me help you,” Chris whispered as he caressed your cheek. “It’s okay not to be okay?” you said to him, making it sound like a question. “Yes,” Chris grinned making you smile.

Song: Time Machine – States Champs.
A/N: I’ve had this in my drafts since I went on hiatus.
So many plans we made were washed away So many memories faded away Honestly, I didn't know it was ending We count the calendar, checking off the days We look ahead, they laugh at the plans we made Honestly, I didn't know it was ending
I wish I had a time machine So you would never have to leave And I wouldn't have to say sorry But now we're running on a picture-perfect memory Of all the things I couldn't say And I'll never have to say sorry that I couldn't save you
Sebastian was sitting in his apartment, in front of the door. Head against the door, with a picture of you and him in his hands. Today marked the 1st year gone without you. One year ago, you had been a victim in a car crash, not making it out alive. Tears were streaming down his face, you were too young to die he thought. Chris had tried to call him several times by now, knowing that this day, in particular, would be the hardest day to cope with out of all days in the year. “Why you?” Sebastian asked himself, as he wiped the tears away with the hem of his sleeve. He kept on staring at your picture.
When he woke up that morning, he had been in a bad mood, because of you. It had all been made worse when he had an encounter with a group of paparazzi’s, they kept on making several questions about you, and him, how he felt today. In the end, it all got too much for him to handle. Sebastian had rushed home and slammed his door shut, falling down to the floor. He had been sitting there for a while now, not moving a single bone away from the spot he had placed himself in.
The two of you had had so many plans, always looking at what the future would hold for you. The truth was, there was no future, not anymore. As much as Sebastian was told to get over you, it was just a matter of fact, that he couldn’t. You were gone, and so was the happiness that he had felt when he spent time with you. You had always been there when he had gotten home after a long day on set, you had been there in ups and downs. You were the one he had wanted to marry. But now, you were looking down at him from heaven, with wings on your back, like the most beautiful angel he could imagine.
The end of the year was on its way, only hours before the clock hit 12 am. For once Tony hadn’t planned one of his big parties, tonight was all about family. The family that you had found in the Avengers. Along with all the others you had pulled out old albums of pictures from your childhood. It had been a long time since you last had seen them, making this night very emotional for you. You didn’t like crying in front of the team, but you knew that some time along the night you would have to wipe your eyes and blow your nose.
Turning another page of your photo album with all the pictures of you and your family, before you were sent to foster care, was hard on you. You could feel the tears in the corners of your eyes. It was hard for you to look back at the time when you still lived with your parents. Especially when you knew that there was so much going on behind the scenes both financially and mentally. This was in the early stages of your father’s dementia, while your mother still didn’t know about his illness.
Bucky noticed how you suddenly became silent, while you normally were happy during these types of activities. He put his arm around your shoulder pulling you closer to his body, that was when you broke. You didn’t mean to just start sobbing like crazy, but here you were sitting on the couch with tears streaming down your face. Tony was the only one who knew the real reason for your sudden outburst, the others only knew that there had been trouble in your family back then. You hated the feeling of people looking at you when you were crying.
When both Tony and Steve had helped you calm down, you turned around to look at everybody. “Thanks for not just leaving me. I’m so god damn thankful for every one of you, let’s just leave all of this bad stuff behind in this year, and start afresh with no troubles in paradise,” You smiled as you both apologized for your outburst, and thanked the team for always being there when you needed them the most.
Time flew by as you were looking through all the other photo albums, that the others had brought out to look in. Before you got a chance to look at the time, Tony had brought out some of his finest champagne, pouring it into glasses.
“This feels nice, doesn’t it? Having a place like ours to call home, especially when most of the team didn’t come from much before, being outcasts, being haunted by weapon dealers, being a secret Russian spy. It amazes me to see how we’ve all grown over the past couple of years, from the day that Iron Man became a thing, till the day we had a team, till today. We’ve grown as a team both in number and in the sense that we are stronger than we’ve ever been. Let’s say goodbye to this year, and let’s jump into the next together as a team,” Tony said as he raised his glass to toast.
“Happy New Year,” Clint yelled when the fireworks started exploding in the sky. You had always hated the thought of fireworks going off in the sky, but tonight something had changed, you had learned how much of a family you all were. You felt protected in the presence of the team. This was where you were meant to be, taken care of like you had nothing to care about in the world. Your family was here, not somewhere else, this was where you finally could be you and show your true colors.
You were sitting on the couch with Nat, watching one of the last Christmas movies that tv stations would put on for the year being. When it was about to finish, everything went black in the tower. You heard Bruce yell something from the lab, but wasn’t quite sure what had happened. “Nat?” You asked, wanting to figure out if she still was there. “Hmm?” She asked back, thinking that you wanted to ask her something. “What happened?” You said, still trying to put the puzzle pieces together in your mind. “I think the electricity is out in all of New York,” she said, this time she was further away.
Fishing your phone out from your pocket, you turned on the flashlight to guide you through the tower to your room. You knew that you had a lot of unused old candles, that you had bought, but never actually lit. You found a bag in your closet so you would have to walk back and forth several times. Along with the candles, you threw in a couple lighters that had been in the drawer with your candles and a board game. When you returned Natasha was once again sitting on the couch, waiting for you. Your flashlight shone onto the window, that must’ve been where she had been before you left the room.
Throwing a lighter for Natasha, you started picking the candles out of your back. Placing them around the room, Nat followed behind you, lighting each one of them until you were done setting them down. “I also brought a board game out with me, I figured we should find something to do until the power is back,” You smiled while taking the game out of your bag.
You played the game longer than what both of you had anticipated. When the one person won, the other would demand a rematch. You were both terribly competitive, meaning that none of you could win the game without the other being unsatisfied. Being too caught up in winning over the other, you didn’t notice that the power had come back, actually, none of you did. It wasn’t until Bruce entered the room, that you noticed. “How long have you been playing for?” He asked, knowing that you had watched a movie before the power went out.
Turning your phone back on, you were shocked to see that the time read 2 am. “Around 4 hours I think,” You said as Bruce started to shake his head at the two of you. “On another note, why did you scream like a little girl, when the power went out? It was pretty weird if you ask me!” You asked him, you could tell that it had been Bruce since Tony would’ve had Friday back every single word backed up somewhere for situations like this. “Oh, you heard that!” Bruce said a little embarrassed. “Don’t worry, we’ll only tell the rest of the world!” Natasha yelled after him as he rushed back to the lab.

“You know I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit,” Wanda said, as you showed her how the yarn should be tied around the knitting pin. You smiled at Wanda’s comment, knowing that you could make something happy by teaching them such a basic skill. You had learned how to need a long time ago. Pepper had been the one to teach you when you had first been introduced to Tony’s world. As a kid you got stressed out easily, having anxiety didn’t quite help out.
Pepper had told you that she used to knit scarves when she was younger, to cope with feelings that she couldn’t quite understand at that age. Since then you had knitted stuff like sweaters, scarfs, mittens and such as a way to get out of your thoughts. “It’s nice that you like it,” you said to Wanda once she had gotten the hang of it.
A/N: Wow 3 posts in a day, I’m terribly sorry for forgetting to post the past couple of days. I haven’t been home much, that’s kind of my only excuse.
Characters: Tony Stark x Reader

A/N: This is just a small drabble
It was a long time since Tony had promised to teach you how to ski. Today was the day, having taken a break from the ever so busy every day that the two of you faced each morning when you woke up. Tony had woken you up earlier than you had ever done yourself, leaving you wondering why he had done so. It wasn’t until later when you were sitting in his jet that he told you why. Sure, it was winter and there was snow, but never in your life had you thought that Tony Stark would teach you how to ski in Aspen. You had thought that he would just take you to Canada or something. Since that was far closer to New York than Colorado was.
“Honestly I had forgotten about the promise you had made me,” You smiled as you stepped out of the jet. Tony was standing wrapped in a big jacket, already with a pair of skis in his arms. “Sure, you did, but how could I forget about something like this, there’s nothing like someone’s first time skiing. It’s almost like when a child first rides their bike without the help of a parent,” He smiled and handed you the skis. You noticed that leaning against the jet was another pair, that must’ve been Tony’s.
After a few hours, you still hadn’t gotten the hang of it and hadn’t left the bunny slope either. You were starting to get annoyed with trying to ski. But Tony kept on encouraging you to try harder and harder as he showed you how it was done. “Remember that time, when you had just gotten to me when I almost just gave up on you. But you changed my mind, look where we are today!” Tony yelled to you from the end of the hill, as you fell face down in the snow.
You remembered that time almost as if it was yesterday. You were scared, had just come to a new place, and you didn’t know what to do. Meaning that you isolated yourself for the first long period of time, with Tony. He had confronted both Pepper and Happy, but no one knew just exactly what to do. Not until the day when you finally started helping him understand. Now was his turn to, sort of, pay back what you had helped him with then.
Believing in yourself was the key to not falling down. And in the end, you knew how to ski, with the help of Tony you could finally cross learn to ski off of your bucket list.
You had been out visiting Clint again, you wanted to make sure that everything was alright after the two of you had been snowed in alongside his family. The safe house that Clint lived in, was one of your favorite places to visit, it was far enough away from the city to not be bothered by any outsider. And close enough so you wouldn’t spend a whole day driving out there. You had agreed to keep the kids occupied, until Clint and Laura and cleaned the whole house. With three kids and a place like the farm, everything was destined to get messy, really fast.
You loved helping Clint out with the kids, keeping an eye on them was never a problem. Especially not since Nathaniel was a toddler now. It wasn’t until someone unexpected knocked on the door, that you stopped playing with the kids. “I’ll get it!” Clint yelled and ran down the stairs like a kid Christmas morning. Obviously, it would’ve made more sense for you to open the door, but you suspected that Clint was tired of cleaning and wanted to see what was happening downstairs with you guys.
“Peter? What are you doing here?” Clint asked in confusion. You had never thought that Peter would come all the way out here, without even announcing it. “I need to speak to (Y/N)!” Peter said, sounding a tad bit panicked. Clint moved aside from the door, looking at you with the kids. “He’s all yours,” he said to you, before running over to the kids. When you got up to Peter, he looked even more panicked than what he had sounded like.
“What is it, Peter?” You asked closing the door behind you. “THERESTHISGIRLTHATILIKEBUTICANTSEEMTOFINDAWAYTOASKHEROUTTONYSAIDISHOULDTALKTOYOU…..,” Peter didn’t get the chance to say anything else. “Stop Peter! Slow down, I can’t even hear you because of all the fog coming out of your mouth when you speak,” you cut him off. Peter was a nice kid, but sometimes his angsty teenage life came in and took over his mind. Meaning that he would end up talking really fast or not really finishing his sentences.
“I was saying. There’s this girl that I like, but I can’t seem to find a way to ask her out. Tony said I should talk to you since you’re a girl, and probably would know how to, you know ask a girl out the best way,” Peter explained, this time slower. You mentally facepalmed yourself, you should’ve known that Tony had sent him here, why else would Peter come to Clint’s farm, with the weather looking like this.
“Couldn’t this have waited until I come home tonight?” You asked, not wanting to hurt Peter’s feelings, he looked at you a little dumbfound of what you had said. “Ehhh…. No? He said, making it sound like a question. “Okay I’ll tell you, but only because you came all the way out here,” you smiled, knowing Tony probably had dropped him off like the helicopter parent that he really acted like.
“I’m not saying that this would work on every girl, but girls like flowers, chocolate, puppies and gentlemen. So try to work some of that into your way of asking her out. On the other hand, she could be into action type of stuff, then you should just play it cool, don’t use any of that pretty princess stuff on the action types,” You tried to explain to Peter as if it was life or death for him if he didn’t listen. In the end, you gave up and decided to go home a couple of hours earlier to help him.
It was finally Christmas, you had been racing around the tower all day, making sure that everything was perfect for tonight. Steve and Natasha had helped you cook the Christmas dinner for this evening, Thor had gone around the tower, alongside vision, checking that the decorations looked like what they did at the beginning of the month. It was the first time, since the Avengers team had been assembled, that you all got to spend Christmas together and to have a few other members to join, was just way better, than if it had only been the seven of you.
None of you had wanted to do anything big with the presents this year, so you had decided to do some sort of secret Santa, but in your own way. Instead of just Buying one present, you had had to buy three, for three different members that you pulled at the beginning of the month. You had gotten Tony, Peter, and Clint. You loved buying things for others, making people happy, was one of the things that you loved the most about Christmas.
You were all sat around the Christmas tree, in a half circle, ready to open the presents that you had gotten each other. Each one of you took turns to pick a present, for someone in the team. When it had come to your turn, you paced around the tree a couple of times, not knowing which one to pick. At least not until you saw the present you had gotten for Tony, it was something that you had thought a long time about, his present had been the hardest for you to buy. Because what do you give to the man who has everything, and I mean literally everything.
When Tony unwrapped the present and opened the box, he teared up. Picking up the small snow globe that you had given him, almost made your heart weak. You had gotten it custom made, with small figures of the two of you inside, like the ones you got around in the big cities, New York, Moscow and so on. You had put the name of your hometown printed across the bottom, that was where he had found you, all those years ago. “How did you get this?” He asked, wondering how you had gotten your hands on something so perfect. To everyone else, it might’ve seemed like a pretty tame present, that only belonged at Christmas time, but to the two of you, it was something special. It was a memory made materialistic.
“I had it custom made, by someone online,” You smiled as you sat down beside him on the couch. Peter had moved over for you to sit down, he knew that the two of you had a special bond together, that he didn’t want to get in between right now. “This is the best thing, that someone has ever given to me,” He said and pulled you into a hug. Tony was the father that you had never thought you would have, he cared for you when your biological family couldn’t. This was a memory that you would have to put into another snow globe someday.

Characters: Avengers x Reader
Words: 600+
A/N: mostly Tony
Being this close to Christmas Eve, sick was the last thing that you wanted to be. But here you were wrapped in several blankets wearing tons of clothes. You had managed to get a fever the day before Christmas. Tony had been out all day, not knowing about your sickness. You were sure that once he found out he would put on his Iron Man suit and fly right back home to the tower. Every time you were sick, Tony acted like the father that you never had. He made sure that you ate enough, that you took your meds and that everything about your wellbeing was checked off. You hated when Tony treated you like a kid, it felt as if you were nothing more than 4 years old again.
Both Steve and Bucky had been to check on you a few times, making sure that you had what you needed. Every time you asked the same question: ‘Is Tony home yet’ and every single time you got the same no. You had to make sure that you still had your alone time. Although deep inside of you, you wanted for him to come back. Somehow your body needed his, sometimes annoying, love that he gave you.
It wasn’t long before you heard a bit of yelling outside of your room, signaling that someone had told Tony that you were sick. The yells died down once there was a knock on your door. “Come in,” it almost came out as a whimper, your throat was sore and your voice raspy from all the coughing. “Hi there, Honey, how you feeling?” Tony asked using the nickname that he had given you, every single one of the team members had gotten a nickname from Tony. “To be honest, not great. My head hurts, I’m freezing but then again, I’m sweating. It feels like someone had sanded my throat with sandpaper. All in all, it feels like I’m dying,” you smiled, trying to turn your misery into something funny.
Since you had been five years old, you had turned your sick days fun. You hated that everything suddenly got serious when you ended up with the flu or a simple fever. “It’s so sad, it’s the day before Christmas and here you are sick in your bed,” “Come on stop that bullshit, you know that I don’t like everything getting sad and serious just because of a little fever,” you tried to man up, but your weak body made you look cute in Tony’s eyes.
“I’ll get you some soup,” he suddenly said, leaving the room. You waited and waited for him to get back to you. When he came back with the bowl full of hot soup, he laid down beside you, turning your tv on. “Tony, I don’t want you to get sick too,” you said, trying to sound convincing. It was enough that one person would be sick for Christmas, but two people were one too many. You weren’t about to be that person who ruined Christmas for everyone this year. Usually, Fury was the one to be that person, making half of you go on a last-minute mission. “Calm down, it’s okay. If you have to be sick, then I’d rather be sick with you,” Tony smiled handing you the soup, once you had gotten into a half sitting half lying down position. You curled up into his side for extra warmth.
After all, you were happy that Tony had gotten back. This time wasn’t as bad as you had figured it would be. Maybe you had overreacted a bit, maybe someone had talked some sense into him. You loved Tony, since day one he had been there for you when you needed him the most. Back when before you started on the team, Tony had taken you in as his own. Your parents had been unable to take care of you when you were small, making you go between foster homes until you turned 18. Since that day, Tony had been the one to keep you safe.
You were working on the latest mission report, as a pleasant smell hit your nose. You tried to push it away, focusing on your work. But as the seconds went by, you couldn’t keep yourself away anymore. You just had to know where that smell came from. Walking out of Tony’s office, that you used to borrow whenever he was gone, you found your way to the kitchen. Seeing Vision standing there, stirring something in a pot, you suddenly got curious. Vision rarely cooked, and when he did, he usually ended up putting something wrong in the food, making it taste horrible.
“What are you making?” You asked as you walked up to him, looking down into the pot. You could tell that he was making some sort of soup, but what kind, you weren’t exactly sure. “Chicken soup, simple as that,” He said and dropped a different arrange of vegetables into the soup. You stood there for a moment, enjoying the smell. You were happy that it looked as if it would be finished soon. Standing there made you hungry, hungry for soup to be exact.
Even since you were a child, the smell of soup had been a happy smell for you. Compared to the other countless bad smells associated with bad memories, this one, was one that you had a good memory off. You couldn’t remember how or when the thing, putting the memory in your brain had happened. It felt as if it had always been there.
When Vision had finished the soup and poured it into a bowl for you, you sat down on the bar chairs surrounding the island. As you slurped the first spoonful of soup into your mouth, you almost fell down from the chair, in pure bliss. You had never tasted anything like that, and the fact that it was Vision who had made it, was even more unbelievable than the taste. “You have to make this more often,” You said, as you ate more of the soup. It was hard for you to stop.
“Well, I’m glad that you think that, this is the first time, someone has liked the food I made,” Vision said, as he tried to hide the sadness that he was feeling. You sensed it immediately but didn’t say anything about it. Vision rarely displayed any of his feelings, especially not to other people than Wanda. Wanda was away on a mission, helping Bruce with something. They had been gone for a while now, it was obvious to anyone that Vision missed her terribly much. They had never been gone from each other for this long before.
You were almost sure that he had made this soup, hoping that he could improve his cooking skills to show Wanda.
Shopping with Natasha was always fun, in the summer you would find outfits for each other. In the winter you would look at crazy and weird accessories to try on. Nat was always fun to be around, especially if it just were the two of you. You loved spending time with her. It was a relief to spent time with someone who wasn’t a male. Even though you loved Tony, Steve, Clint, Bucky, and all the other guys. Spending time with Natasha, was one of those moments in the week, that you looked forward too. It was hard being one of the only girls on the team, let alone being one of the two who wasn’t taken. Although you suspected Bruce and Natasha for having something ongoing behind everyone’s backs.
“Hey look at this (Y/N)!” Natasha said in excitement, you snapped out of your head. Looking at Natasha, she was wearing some sort of a big hat, formed as a cheeseburger. Her head was fully surrounded by the burger hat, and there was a round piece going around her neck to support the burger, helping it stay on the person who wore it.
“Where did you find it?” You asked while laughing. Natasha pointed to a rack with all sorts of hats and scarves on it. Going with the food theme that she had going on, you picked up a scarf that looked like a long piece of pizza. You found some sunglasses at the other end of the store, way too big for your head. When you got back to where Natasha was standing, you put on the sunglasses, that almost covered your whole face up. Then putting the scarf on in a violent way, you acted as if you were a famous movie star, with your pizza scarf and your sunglasses. You both fell into a fit of laughter because of your little performance.
Natasha walked back to the rack and tried to pick something new out. “No way, look at this,” she said and showed you a long white scarf, formed as a cat. Complete with ears, paws and a tail, you couldn’t believe that someone had come up with the idea of making a scarf that looked like a cat.
You stayed in that store for a while, trying all sorts of hats and scarves. Making sure to take pictures of each funny accessory that you put on, you were sure that the others were going to laugh their butts off, just as much as you had done with Natasha that day.
Stepping out of the elevator, you kicked your boots off. Entering the main area of the Avengers tower, the only person you saw was Peter. Peter hadn’t been with the team that long, you didn’t know him like you knew any of the others. Your arms were full, you had bought everything that a gingerbread house could ever need. Placing it down on the counter, something piqued Peter’s interest, because he was soon all over the items you bought at the local supermarket.
“Uncle Ben, Aunt May and I always used to make these when I was small. It’s one of my fondest Christmas memories from when I was a child,” Peter smiled looking up at you from the bag. You smiled back to the boy. “Aren’t you still a child?” You cocked an eyebrow at him. Knowing that it was a joke, Peter punched your shoulder playfully. To be fair it hurt a little, you hadn’t thought of Peter actually being strong. After all, he was just a nerd from queens, or at least that was what you had told yourself the first time you met him.
“So, I guess you want to join in on the building. I had thought of doing it myself since everyone is busy this time of year. Tony is planning Christmas Eve, Steve is doing a lot of charity work etc. Isn’t this your first Avengers Christmas?” You asked him, as you started taking the parts of the house out of the box. Ever since you had made your first gingerbread house, you had been addicted to them. Stress filled your body every December, having to buy presents for everybody while going on missions. Everything had to be perfect in your world, therefore making gingerbread houses was a coping mechanism for you to destress in your busy Christmas stress.
You started piping the sides of the house together with the icing put in the box. When that was done decoration came next on the to-do list, you let Peter have his fun on one side of the house, while you decorated the other one. You used a chocolate bar as the tiles on the roof. Skittles as the Christmas lights, you even had a small gingerbread dog on your side that you had bought for the occasion. Everything went smoothly on your side, every element that you put in matched perfectly with each other. While on Peter’s side, it looked like a mess. Nothing matched, everything was gliding down the walls, you could tell that he was struggling with the decorating.
“You need any help over there?” You asked as you put the finishing touches on your side. Peter looked up, seeing you standing against the counter with nothing else to do. “That would be nice thanks,” he said making room for you to join on his side of the house. Right as you were about to finish the gingerbread house up, Bucky came back home with Sam and Natasha following behind. “Hey look, (Y/N) had finally accepted the spiderling as a part of the group,” Sam laughed, you knew that him a Bucky had a beefy relationship with Peter.
“Aw shut up bird face, you’re just jealous that I ain’t letting you build a gingerbread house with me,” you shot back at him, Sam looked like he didn’t know a good come back so he let it slide. They all left you to finish the house up.
Peter wasn’t as bad of a person as you had first thought he was. When he first joined the team, Tony had been all over him, neglecting you completely. But now that Peter had fully joined the team, you had Tony wrapped around your finger again. So, after all, everything was good again, and you had a new friend that you could hang out with when everyone was busy with whatever they were busy with.
You were on your way to your dad’s house, along with Steve. Since he had found out about your friendship with the super soldier, he had been begging you to meet him. Right before Steve went under back in 1945 your father had taken a liking to the soldier, he had been the one hope of winning the war. Every time you had asked Steve to go with you to see your father, something had come up. Whether it was mission, sickness or some third cause, you hadn’t been able to successfully surprise your father with his childhood hero. It wasn’t a lie that your father was old, almost 80 to be exact. He wasn’t the man that he once was, having someone this close to you with dementia was awful. It left you and your closest family to help him with whatever he needed, whenever he needed it. You couldn’t get yourself to abandon him, not like your mother had done once he got the diagnosis. You hadn’t seen her since the day that she left, nor had you had any contact with her, for all you knew she could be dead, and you wouldn’t know it.
The moment you stepped onto the front porch, you got nervous, thinking that he wouldn’t remember Steve or you for the matter. It had never crossed you that he could’ve forgotten who his childhood hero was. “Let’s just not do this,” you turned around to face Steve, completely chicken out by the state your father could be in. But Steve took things into his own hands, reaching past you and ringing the doorbell. “We’re definitely doing this, remember we’ve been planning this for so long,” he smiled putting a hand on your shoulder. It wasn’t long before the lock clicked and your dad opened the door. He looked worse than the last time you had seen him. “Hi dad, look who I brought with me today,” you smiled stepping aside, letting your farther get the whole image of Steve standing in front of him printed into his brain.
“Thank you so much,” he smiled with tears streaming down his cheeks. You didn’t think that he would react like this, seeing Steve. But then again, Steve had been the one to keep his hopes up high when all hope seemed lost. You loved how happy Steve made your father, this should’ve happened a long time ago. Steve got to tell your dad how it all had gone down back in the ’40s. he told him about everything, even how he defeated the Red Skull, you could tell by the look on your father’s face, that he loved every single second of it.
“Dad do you need help with anything before we leave?” You asked it was a long drive back to New York, and it was getting late. Since the snow had fallen, it had gotten a lot harder to drive around in the area that he lived in, so you had to be extra careful this time of the year. “Could you help me with the snow out front, I would’ve done it myself, but my body becomes weaker with each day passing by,” his happy expression had turned concerned. “I can do that,” Steve immediately said.
Steve was faster than you had seen anybody be when they were shoveling snow. It was unbelievable how fast he finished the driveway and the front yard. When he was done and you had to say goodbye, your father was beyond happy. He thanked you both for everything that you had done, but especially Steve. You loved seeing the expression on your dad’s face when he talked to and about the super soldier. It was like his dementia suddenly disappeared, just for a little while. Those times were when you could finally see the real side of your dad, even if you had to listen to the same old stories every single time. You didn’t care, as long as he was happy, you could tolerate the Captain America stories all day.

“Why is it so cold in here?” You whined as you entered Bucky’s room. It wasn’t long before your body started shaking, making your body try to keep the temperature high inside of you. Bucky looked at you as if he didn’t know what you were talking about. After all, he had been encased in ice several times before. “I don’t feel anything,” he said, you cocked an eyebrow at him ready to fire something back. Realizing what you were about to say, you stopped yourself from hurting Bucky.
Bucky had started opening more and more up to you, telling you about how it felt to go in winter mode. You didn’t want to ruin that trust, by hurting him with a mean comment. It looked as if Bucky already had pushed the comment out of his brain, focusing on what you really were here to help him with. “What was it you needed my help for?” You asked Bucky trying to turn your focus away from how cold you were. “I don’t know what to get Steve for Christmas,” he said and lowered his head a little, almost as if he was ashamed that he couldn’t find a present for his best friend. “Don’t be sad about it, look at me, I can’t even find a gift for Tony, it’ll come to you just as it will come to me, hopefully. But I’ll be more than happy to help you,” you smiled to him and sat down on the bed beside him.
After a few hours of searching for gifts Bucky could buy for Steve, you still hadn’t found the perfect gift yet. And to be fair your body was still shaking. Bucky had taken notice of it, as you were scrolling down another page of things that Steve possible could get for Christmas. He walked out of the room for a few moments, before coming back with a couple of blankets that he wrapped around your shoulders, trying to make you warm again.
“I’m sorry,” Bucky said, sounding a bit guilty again. You looked at him, not even noticing that your body had stopped shaking, once you had gotten the blankets around you. “For what?” You asked, not really understanding where he was going with it. “I’m so used to the cold, that I didn’t even notice how you were freezing yourself half to death,” “Bucky please don’t, it’s okay, I could’ve just put on a couple more layers of clothes before helping you. I should’ve known that you would be so used to the coldness of the cryo-freeze that that most likely would feel like room temperature for you,” you were trying your hardest to get Bucky back on track, he didn’t deserve to feel so guilty about something so irrelevant. It had been your own fault, putting on way too little cloths in the first place. Besides you had been in Bucky’s room before, you should’ve remembered it would be just as cold as it was the last time.
You were cold, shaking a miserable when you entered the tower. It had been snowing so badly since the minute you stepped out of the building this morning. Your clothes were completely soaked by the many flakes of snow that had landed on you during the day. And if the already wetness from just walking wasn’t enough, you had managed to fall down, twice today, due to the extremely icy sidewalks. As you walked through the lobby, the receptionist gave you dirty looks all the way to the elevator. You were leaving small puddles of water, formed as your feet in a straight line from the entrance to the elevator door. You couldn’t wait to get out of your clothe and jump into something warmer and drier than what you were wearing.
Once the elevator stopped, Steve was the only one sitting around. He noticed how you were dripping on the floor. While waiting for the elevator to reach the Avengers quarters of the tower, you had taken your boots and jacket off. Just to reveal something equally as wet as what you had taken off. You kicked your boots out of the elevator and left your jacket on top of them, you would take care of that later. “What happened to you?” Steve asked as you walked across the room in the direction of your bedroom. You were trying your hardest not to snap at Steve, you took a long breath before turning around to face him.
“I’m cold, soaked in snow and my ass is hurting because of those stupid icy sidewalks,” Steve looked at you with a surprised look in his eyes, he most surely hadn’t thought that you would bark at him like you just had. He knew that it was best to just leave that fact alone, that was one of the rules the others had made around you were you were pissed for some reason. “Let me run a bath for you,” Steve smiled as he followed you to your room, he disappeared into your bathroom as soon as you had let him inside. You heard the water start to run, as you tossed your wet clothes into the laundry basket. You hadn’t done the laundry in a little while, meaning that your basket was overflowing with dirty clothes.
You walked into the bathroom to check on Steve, the bath was almost ready when you entered. “I’ll just leave you then,” Steve smiled as he was about to leave you alone, you had already soaked yourself in the hot water. “No please stay,” you begged him, although you were completely naked, all the bubbles were covering you. Steve sat down on the lid of the toilet. “Thanks for doing this, I’m sorry that I snapped at you like that,” You apologized to Steve, as you felt your body becoming warmer by every single second spent in the water.
“It’s alright, we all have bad days. Yours just happened to be today,” He said as he looked at you with warm eyes. You didn’t know what you would’ve done without Steve, he was one of your best friends. He was the person you went to with many of your problems. He was the one who knew the most about you, other than Tony of course. You were happy that you had such a good friendship with the super soldier. Especially since he had so much in his luggage that you never got bored while spending time with him.
