PREFACE: This is the 30k to 75k version! If yâall want a less than 30k rec list and/or an over 75k list, let me know!
Also: these are in no particular order!
Four Strings and Second Chances by Vashoth
Summary:Â It was reluctance to let one of his finest inventions ever out of his grasp that made him take a couple days over a week to send the arm to Pepperâs office. But all things considered, Tony figured that sending finest prosthetic that had ever come into existenceâliterally grasping an olive branchâwas one of the classiest gifts heâd ever given. Heâd included a note and everything. âBarnes,
Can help with installation. Or not. Up to you.
âStarkâ
Personal Review: The softness. The quality choice of making Bucky Barnes a ukulele gay. Preserving Steve and Buckyâs friendship while still making it clear that Bucky loves Tony. The iconicism of this fic. I love it.Â
Like a Goddamn Katy Perry Song by tisfan
Summary: Tony is chased into the woods during his first heat, where the status-poor alpha, Bucky, lives. Running off the pack of heat-taggers, Bucky takes the young Tony home for recovery, to discover thereâs not much time before the omega goes into full heat. Well⌠now what?
Personal Review: I donât normally go for A/B/O. However. The writing of tisfan brought me in. I came for the tisfan and stayed for the cute dynamic! Bucky being protective while trying to be detached, Tony trying to stay distant but getting more and more entrenchedâŚ. love that.Â
my light (smell) will guide you home by winterbitch (WinterLadyy)
Summary:Â After escaping from HYDRA and dealing with Captain America, Bucky goes to New York. He can get lost there and figure out who he is. But something huge is missing from his memory and when the full moon comes, Bucky figures out what, but itâs too late. The Wolf takes over, snooping around New York and looking for whatâs pulling him. Then he meets Tony Stark, who just canât leave the huge, fluffy dog starving on the streets.
Only the huge dog is weirdly protective and definitely smarter than averageâŚ
Personal Review: WHERE WOLF? THERE WOLF! BUCKY BARNES! Okay, sorry, I just love werewolves. Magic tattoos, protective wolfmen, CUDDLING? Weâre hitting all of my favorite things.Â
Forms of Love by bear_bell
Summary:Â Months after the Avengersâ dispute in Germany, the team returns to the US and moves back into the tower. As always, everyone pretends that nothing happened. Tony is just fine with this. Heâs used to pretending, and heâll be damned if he lets any of them see him flinch.
Tonyâs the bad guy, after all. Heâs used to it. Heâs fine with it. Heâs good at it.
Only now, thereâs something far worse loitering around the tower - The Winter Soldier. No one notices the guy at first, but when they do, Tony figures that he should have the soldierâs back.
Birds of a feather should flock together, and the bad guys should start a book club.
Personal Review: This. This fic. I love. This fic. Separate People!Winter and Bucky is like my favorite thing. The writing. The characterization. The development. Câest magnifique.Â
Cat Nipped by Akira_of_the_Twilight
Summary:Â âSteve,â a bit of anger leaked into Buckyâs voice, so he paused to cull it back. âTony is a werecat, and you really want the two of us to meet?â
Steve sighed, his shoulder dropping. âBuckyâŚâ
âNo!â Bucky bit back a bark. âSteve, Iâm a werewolf, in case you have forgotten. Canine weres and feline weres do not get along well.â
âIâm a werecanine and Tony and I get along fine.â
âThatâs not what you were saying last week.â
â
When cats and dogs collide there is bound to be trouble.
Personal Review: Protective Bucky! Angry Bucky! Kitty!Tony! Wolf!Bucky! Itâs very character driven and I think thatâs beautiful.Â
Fractures (Filled With Liquid Gold) by itsallAvengers
Summary:Â Ultron happened. The Avengers left.
Tony is fine with being alone again. He always worked better as a Lone Wolf than a team player anyway. Heâs not sleeping or eating or resting or⌠living, but itâs fine. Itâs good. Itâs okay.
And then thereâs James.
Personal Review: *clenches fist* Itâs about the loneliness. I love protectiveness, and this fic is so heavy with it. The PACING. I just. Includes the dialogue line âIâm gonna launch it into the fucking sun,â and I think thatâs very cash money.Â
Strong enough to trust by Enmuse (Scifiroots)
Summary:Â Steve makes a life-altering choice, and Bucky wakes up from cryostasis to better circumstances than he could anticipate: Mind free of triggers, name cleared, fully pardoned, and a ticket back to the USA. Itâs far more than he deserves, but with no other plans or ties, he finds himself relocating to the Avengers Initiative Compound alongside Stevieâs rogue superheroes.
He begins establishing a new life - friends, work, maybe even love - but doesnât realize that the castles he is painstakingly building are ones in the sky.
â
âI⌠donât understand,â Bucky admits in a murmur.
Starkâs gaze drops to the silver-plated shoulder. "I fix things,â he says. His fingers drum restlessly against his chest. âAnd this is something I broke. You shouldnât have to just live with the consequences when something can be done about it.â
Personal Review: I thrive on Steve Rogers related anger. Itâs what I live off of. This is a great characterization of Bucky, of Tony, even of Steve, even as itâs very angry at Steve. I just love this fic.Â
Measure of a Man by JasperMoar
Summary: Tony is so. damn. tired of losing control. He gave it away freely before, and that got him stuck with some sharp metal and a magnet in his chest. He tried taking it back, and that got his heart ripped out of his goddamn chest. He pours his heart and soul into a system to protect the people he canât save, tries to take control of his own flaws, and nearly destroys the world via genocidal robot. He realizes that hey, heâs one man. One terribly-human, incredibly-fallible man, and tries to make himself more accountable. Tries to give the control to people who might actually know what the fuck theyâre doing. He tries to stop being the one to condemn young kids with bright futures.
He ends up half-dead in Siberia, as one of his best friends walks away. Leaves him there. Tony had never possessed an ounce of control over that situation to begin with.
The only one whoâs going to get hurt in this little game is Tony, and thatâs fine. At least heâll be in control.
âIn which Tony Stark develops an eating disorder. This does not glorify eating disorders, and in fact will focus mainly on the consequences and recovery.
Personal Review: This does have a heavy trigger warning for eating disorders and negative self talk/esteem. But, itâs a really good fic. The triggering content is well done, well written and non-offensive, as someone who struggles with disordered eating. Itâs mostly about Tonyâs personal development rather than the ship, but it is also still fulfilling on that front.Â
and of course
tell me no by halfwheeze
Summary:Â Barnes, 107th Infantry 32557038.
Barnes is not Bucky. Barnes is not the Winter Soldier. Barnes doesnât know who he is, or even sometimes, what he is.
Maybe Tony Stark can help him figure that out. Or maybe, if he just gets all the tools, he can fix Tony along the way too.
Personal Review: this is my own fic itâs garbage but i have to rec itÂ
Ooooh.
To the guy I walked past five years ago: Your partner accepting you for who you are is the BARE MINIMUM of what you should expect and Iâm very sorry that so many of us were taught otherwise.
Yoinked from IG. Gotta love those beef cubes đ
I rewatched Song of the Sea the other day and that movie makes me so emotional, but unfortunately my brain was particularly stevetony-addled at the time so I conflated them together

Y'all: ugh I wish fandom content creators would post more đŠđŠđŠđŠđŠđŠ
Also y'all when someone posts fanart/fanfic/edits/etc:
look im not popular in any way when it comes to my content creating and i absolutely understand that more attention makes you feel good about the content youâre putting out but I think that one, depending on other people for your own drive to create content isnât really okay. also thereâs always going to be more likes then reblogs like I donât know, I donât think this is something worth complaining about.
The main issue here is that it didnât used to be this way. At all. And Iâm certain a lot of the people who are making a huge issue out of the like to reblog ratio are people who are been here for a while (like myself) and remember the days when reblogs dominated the hell out of likes.Â
Up until around 2016 or so, the like to reblog ratio was the total opposite of how it is now. And it applied on posts with fewer notes and posts with a large amount of notes:
You get my point. But over the last few years it has flipped completely:
And, of course, see OPâs screenshot.
It doesnât take rocket science to figure out that the posts with more reblogs have an astoundingly higher amount of notes because of increased exposure. Reblogging allows more people to see the content, thatâs more people to either continue reblogging or at least give a like. For artists in particular who would benefit from the exposure in terms of commissions and patreon and all of that, this is a huge deal. It can make all the difference.Â
Tumblr as a blogging platform was created with the intent to post and share content. Itâs not meant to be a consume-only form of social media like Instagram. For fandom blogs in particular, it always boggles me that people donât share content that they like. Tumblr was appealing for fandom in the first place because of the ability to plaster your blog with amazing things that other people made - this used to be unheard of. For me, itâs like saving something precious so you can always come back to it again. Itâs giving the people who follow me something awesome to look at too. Creating and sharing content is the heart of fandom.
People rely primarily on their dash for content. Most people avoid going into tags/searches because of wanky fandom drama. So reblogs are crucial for exposure! Likes are a nice gesture, but they do nothing to help share and promote content. Thatâs why content creators are frustrated or moving to other platforms, or why they stop making content altogether. Tumblr has its issues, but itâs still one of the best places for exposure due to its reblog function and overall post formatting. Itâs discouraging seeing content creators on Tumblr as a concept die off. This site is nothing without them.
We can enjoy making things as much as possible but when we share it and no one cares enough to show it to others, it does make us wonder why we bothered in the first place. And this isnât a new complaint from content creators. But it has worsened over time as the likes started dominating the reblogs.Â
Itâs not that we donât appreciate likes at all, notes are notes. But reblogs equal more notes, which equals more exposure, which equals happy content creators, which equals more content for fandom to consume. Itâs a wholly positive chain of events that circles back around. Your reblog could be a deciding factor on whether that content creator chooses to keep contributing or to give up entirely.
Reblogs mean the world to us. They can really brighten our day a whole lot.
yeah, itâs absolutely a result of cringe culture. the whole atmosphere on tumblr has changed radically. with cancel culture, the constant policing of fandom content, calling everything âproblematicâ, harassing creators for doing literally anything, and unmitigated sense of entitlement to other peopleâs work, itâs literally impossible to like anything without someone crawling up your ass about it. creators are afraid to create, and consumers are afraid to share.
Hi friends,
Iâm thinking of making enamel pins (those awesome shiny metal pins you can put on jackets and backpacks, etc) and I would love to have some opinions. If you could take 2 minutes to fill out this survey, I would greatly appreciate it. Itâs only 4 questions.Â
+ Please reblog. Iâd like to get as many responses as I can, and any reblogs would help a bunch. Thanks!

YOu cANT STOp me.

Harlequin Romance Stony
You know how much I love this stuff. Here are some prompts from Discord:
PROMPT 1: Tony is a very wealthy Lord who is engaged to the heir of an American steel company, Aldrich Killian, who he has never met, just heard described.  Killian is sailing to marry Tony when he meets Maya Hansen and they fall in love, hatching a plot to hop off the ship when it stops at a port before getting to its final destination.  Steve stows away on the ship b/c he has to get to where Bucky is being held in debtorâs prison and figure some way to get him out.  Killian finds out about him and offers to exchange clothes and papers so that he can escape with Maya.  After Killian and Maya hop off the ship, thereâs a storm and the ship is lost at sea, except Steve, who is found by a rescue boat with no memory of who he is, but with a betrothal contract with Lord Anthony Stark, who shows up at the hospital and goes from being pretty unhappy about this whole marriage situation to rather delighted by it.  They fall in love, but then Steve gets his memory back, and oh no, he has to help Bucky somehow, but will Tony ever understand that he wasnât just using him? Â
PROMPT 2: Steve was an orphan who grew up working in the Stark stables and befriends the young Lord.  As they grow up, Steve falls head over heels, even though he knows it can never work.  With war on the horizon, he decides to enlist, and Howard helps him get a commission, so he isnât thrown right into the front lines of the war like most poor orphans would be.  When Tony comes home from university, Steve decides to throw caution to the wind and tell Tony how he feels, except Tony scoffs at him and completely rejects him.  Unbeknownst to Steve, this was b/c Howard thought they were way too close and it was threatening his plans for Tony, so he told Tony he would take away Steveâs commission.  During the war, Steve distinguishes himself greatly and is rewarded with a title and lands.  Meanwhile, Howard is killed and his company, as it turns out, is revealed to not only be heavily in debt but there is evidence he was selling arms to the enemy in order to be able to make some extra money (it was really Obie, dundundunnn).  Assets are seized, lands are mortgaged and titles are stripped.  Years later after many failed attempts at resurrecting his good name and a new business, Tony is in dire straits.  He has nothing left. No one will work with him.  The banks wonât extend his loans any longer.  All he has left is the Stark estate, which is in total disrepair, but it is home to Jarvis, Pepper, and the rest of his household staff and if he loses it, they will be out with nothing, since he canât even afford their pensions.  He has no choice but to turn to newly minted Lord Rogers for helpâŚexcept, wellâŚhe really only has one thing left to offer Steve.  Himself.
PROMPT 3:Â Lord Anthony Stark is beset by a brigands on his way to his country estate. Â Omega Steve Rogers (skinny Steve) was on his way home when he happened upon the scene and helps Tony fight off the bad guys. Â Except, Tony collapses from his head wound and Steve has no way to move him safely, so he stays with him until the morning when he can get help. Â Tonyâs deeply grateful and when Steveâs guardian, Pierce, shows up at his estate, he plans on making sure Steve is handsomely rewarded. Â Except, Pierce tells him that wonât do b/c now, with Tonyâs reputation and them spending the night together, the Alpha they had lined up to Bond with Steve refuses and Steveâs reputation is in tatters. Â It wasnât like someone like Steve had a whole lot of great prospects, given his lack of any dowry and his health issues. Â Tony feels terrible, but what is there toâyou know, actually, why not? Â He needs to Bond. Â Steve did save his life. Â He canât just leave him like that and Steveâs guardian is horrible. Â Besides, he can just shunt Steve off to some random manor house and live his life the way he wants! Â Get an heir on him one day, but otherwise, he wonât have to change his lifestyle at all. Works out great. Â Steve is horrified, but also rather moon-eyed over Tony. They Bond and have a great night together, but then Tony leaves and is (oh no!) attacked again. This time, he is sold to a bunch of pirateers, even though the brigands were supposed to kill him, but they figured why not make some more $. Â Everyone thinks Tony is dead.A year passes. Steve mourns terribly. Â So badly that Pepper and Rhodey have to have a heart to heart to explain that Tony hadnât really been exactly deeply in love with Steve. Â Steve also, letâs say, blossoms. Â So much so that between that and the amount he is due from Tonyâs estate, he is attracting a lot of unwanted attention. Â They keep telling him he has to Bond, but he doesnât want to do that again. Â Duels are being fought over him, thereâs a kidnap attempt, Pepper knows they are one misstep away from a major scandal, so finally, Steve agrees to Bond with his best friend from childhood, who is back from the war, injured and in need of respite and a lot of help. Â Even if it is platonic, they can be happy together and Steve doesnât want to love again anyway and Bucky insists he doesnât want that, either. Â So, itâs a win-win. Â They are in the middle of the Bonding ceremony when Tony returns.Tony managed to escape after a grueling year during which he went through a lot of changes and realized that maybe he kind of had something great with Steve. Â But, he also wants to find out who was so determined to kill him. Â Then he comes back and finds Steve, very much changed, and about to Bond with this Alpha he has known forever, who just happened to be around when Tony was attacked. Â Tony is Not Happy.
Much less eloquently, hereâs one I tried to ply @sabrecmc with a little while ago, but sheâs too wily for me.
Tony is a prince, son of some important king of whatever. Steve gets assigned to him as a servant/slave and they bond over feeling like their lives arenât their own. Tony has been planning for a long time to run away, and he takes Steve into his confidence and after some hemming and hawing, Steve agrees to the plan, and to come with him. They bust out and bolt and for a while, things are good. Theyâre having fun and feeling free on a magical carpet ride. But then Dangerous Plot Happens. Maybe King Howard sends people after them, maybe Tony runs into King Howardâs enemies and now theyâre being chased etc. But theyâre even closer and closer, falling in love, and in the midst of all the chaos, they admit their budding feelings and sleep together. The next day, all aglow with new love, Tony wakes up early and goes through Steveâs pack trying to find paper to write him a note, but instead, he finds, wrapped in a scarf at the bottom, Steveâs badge from King Howardâs secret guard. He wakes Steve up and confronts him. Steve admits he was assigned to Tony as a bodyguard, not as a servant, but Tony had rejected and tormented every other bodyguard, so they sent Steve in undercover, as it were. Tonyâs heartbroken and after yelling at each other for a while, Tony bolts. He gets captured by the bad guys blah blahy plot happens, they rescue each other. After, when theyâre recovering, Steve explains that it started out as a protection assignment, but he fell in love with Tony almost immediately, and when Tony laid out his plan to leave, Steve made the decision to defect. People arenât after them because of Steve; he didnât tell anyone about Tonyâs plan. When he left, he signed his own death certificate if they ever found him again. He chose Tony over his country, his job. Blah blah somehow a happy ending!
Some of us arenât total plot sluts, @festiveferret but you do make a tempting offer
