Weeks had passed since you and Daniela started dating.
Weeks filled with FaceTime calls from different cities.
Weeks of falling asleep with your phones still connected because neither of you wanted to be the one to hang up.
Weeks of hugging pillows and pretending, just for a second, that it was each other instead.
Long distance wasn’t easy.
Some nights all you wanted was to wrap your arms around Daniela after a long day instead of settling for a pixelated screen and a “goodnight” through a phone speaker.
But somehow, the distance never made you doubt her.
If anything, it only made every reunion that much sweeter.
You loved this girl.
Completely.
And she loved you right back.
Which was why, the second you saw the tour schedule and noticed one particular stop, you rearranged everything you possibly could.
The day before Thanksgiving.
Atlanta, Georgia.
Daniela’s hometown.
There was no way you were missing that.
After getting a few days off from filming in Los Angeles, you caught the first flight east, your excitement growing with every passing hour.
Daniela had spent weeks telling you stories about Atlanta.
The streets she grew up on.
The restaurants she’d always begged the girls to try whenever tour came through.
The places she’d ride past in the car and quietly point out with a smile.
“That’s where I used to…”
She’d said those words so many times over the past week that you’d practically memorized every story.
Now, you finally got to see them for yourself.
Your plane landed just after noon.
As soon as you stepped outside the airport, the crisp November air hit your face, carrying the unmistakable smell of fallen leaves and someone grilling somewhere nearby.
You smiled to yourself.
Atlanta.
Daniela was only a few miles away.
Just the thought of it made your heart beat a little faster.
You slid into the waiting cab, tossing your suitcase into the trunk before climbing into the backseat.
The driver glanced at you through the rearview mirror.
“Hotel?”
You nodded.
“Yeah.”
You couldn’t stop smiling as the city rolled by outside your window.
This wasn’t just another tour stop.
This was home for her.
And tonight—
You’d get to watch the girl you loved perform in front of the city that raised her.
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
Once you arrived at the hotel, you barely waited for the cab to stop before paying the driver.
“Keep the change.”
You hopped out, grabbed your suitcase from the trunk, and hurried through the revolving doors.
Your heart was already racing.
A few minutes before landing, you’d texted Sophia asking for Daniela’s room number, swearing her to secrecy.
418.
You repeated it in your head as the elevator climbed floor by floor.
Ding.
Fourth floor.
You wheeled your suitcase down the quiet hallway, your eyes darting from one door number to the next.
412…
414…
416…
There.
418.
A grin spread across your face.
You knocked twice before quickly covering the peephole with your hand.
A few seconds later, the lock clicked.
The door swung open.
Daniela frowned in confusion at first.
“…Hello?”
Then you lowered your hand.
Her eyes grew impossibly wide.
“Y/n!”
Before you could even say hi, she launched herself into your arms.
You caught her effortlessly around the waist as she nearly knocked the both of you backward.
“Oh my gosh!” she laughed, wrapping herself around you. “You’re here!”
“I am,” you laughed, holding her tightly. “Miss me?”
She answered by squeezing you even harder.
“A little.”
You snorted.
“Liar.”
“The biggest.”
She finally leaned back just enough to cup your face in both hands, studying you like she was making sure you were actually real.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” she asked, smiling so hard her cheeks hurt. “You’re actually here. Like… in Atlanta. With me.”
You tilted your head.
“Wow.”
“What?”
“Are you sure you didn’t secretly go to college?”
Daniela narrowed her eyes.
“…Excuse me?”
“Because you’re incredibly observant.”
She rolled her eyes so dramatically you couldn’t help laughing.
“Very funny.”
“I try.”
She responded by grabbing the front of your hoodie and pulling you into a kiss.
It was slow.
Comfortable.
The kind of kiss that only came after weeks apart.
You smiled against her lips, your arms instinctively tightening around her waist.
God…
You’d missed this.
When you finally pulled away, you rested your forehead against hers for a moment before reluctantly setting her back on the ground.
You rolled your suitcase inside and kicked the door shut behind you.
The room looked exactly how you expected.
Daniela’s suitcase was lying wide open beside the bed, clothes spilling out in every direction.
You laughed to yourself.
“Still allergic to unpacking?”
She looked over.
“…It’s organized.”
You stared at the pile of clothes.
“…Sure.”
“It is!”
“Mhm.”
She smacked your arm.
“You’re so judgmental.”
You grinned before setting your own suitcase against the wall.
The second your hands were free, you wrapped Daniela in another hug.
She melted into it immediately.
One hand slid into your hair while the other rubbed slow circles across your back.
“How was the flight?” she asked quietly.
“Long,” you admitted with a tired laugh. “But completely worth it.”
You leaned down and kissed her forehead.
Her smile somehow grew even wider.
She looked up at you, taking her time.
“You know…”
“What?”
“I don’t think FaceTime does you justice.”
You blinked.
“…Are you calling me ugly?”
Daniela gasped dramatically.
“I never said that.”
“You implied it.”
“I absolutely did not.”
“You literally just—“
“You assumed that all on your own,” she interrupted with a smug smile, patting your cheek. “Sounds like a you problem.”
You let out an offended laugh.
“I’ve been in Atlanta for all of ten minutes and you’re already roasting me.”
She shrugged innocently.
“I had three weeks of missed teasing to make up for.”
“Three weeks?”
“Mhm.”
You folded your arms.
“So that’s how we’re starting this visit?”
Daniela stepped closer until there was barely any space between you.
“No,” she murmured, slipping her hands into yours.
“This…”
She smiled up at you.
“…is how I’m starting it.”
Then she kissed you again, slower this time, smiling the entire way through while the rest of the world disappeared outside room 418.
“So how long are you staying?” Daniela asked, shifting closer as she moved to lay back on the bed, pulling you down with her.
“A few days after Thanksgiving,” you answered, getting comfortable beside her and resting your arms behind your head.
Her head immediately snapped toward you.
“Seriously?”
You smiled at her reaction. “Seriously.”
A huge grin spread across her face as she pushed herself up on her elbow.
“This is perfect!” she exclaimed. “Tomorrow we’re spending Thanksgiving with my whole family. You can meet my mama and mi abuelos! They’ve been dying to meet you.”
Your eyes widened slightly.
“They know about me?” you asked, a small smile tugging at your lips.
“Of course they do,” Daniela said like it was obvious. “My mom knew basically the second you became my girlfriend. She probably called my grandparents right after.”
You laughed softly, shaking your head. “That sounds like your family.”
Daniela smiled, settling back down beside you.
“They’re going to love you,” she said confidently. “Seriously. They’re going to be so excited to meet you.”
She leaned over, pressing a gentle kiss to your cheek.
“You sure about that?” you asked quietly.
Your voice held a little uncertainty that Daniela immediately noticed.
Her expression softened.
You’d never really gotten to this point before. You’d never brought someone home to meet your family, never had someone you cared about enough to introduce to the people who raised you.
And now, only a few weeks into dating Daniela, you were about to meet the people who shaped her into the person you loved.
Daniela shifted closer, looking down at you.
“Hey.”
You looked up at her.
She smiled gently before leaning down and pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“If I love you, they’ll love you.”
Your heart immediately warmed.
You smiled. “And you love me?”
Daniela paused dramatically.
“Hmm…”
Your smile dropped slightly.
“Dani.”
She shrugged, trying to hold back a grin. “Eh. Sometimes.”
You rolled your eyes, immediately pushing her shoulder lightly.
“Wow. After everything I’ve done for you?”
She laughed, catching your hand before you could pull away.
“I’m kidding.”
“Mhm. Sure.”
Daniela smiled before moving closer and resting her head against your chest.
“I love you,” she whispered.
The teasing disappeared instantly.
You looked down at her, smiling softly as your hand moved through her hair.
“I love you too.”
She hummed contently, arms wrapping around your waist.
For a moment, neither of you said anything.
You just stayed there.
No airports.
No tour schedules.
No time zones.
No missing each other through a phone screen.
Just you and Daniela, together.
And for once, that was enough.

6:30 PM — Thanksgiving Dinner
Arriving at Daniela’s grandparents’ house with the rest of the KATSEYE girls should’ve been exciting.
And it was.
But nervous was an understatement.
Your mind had been spiraling the entire drive over.
What if Daniela’s mom didn’t like you?
What if her grandparents thought you weren’t good enough for her?
What if you embarrassed yourself?
You tried to push the thoughts away, but the closer you got to the house, the louder they became.
As you walked up the front steps, Daniela noticed.
Of course she did.
She always did.
Without saying a word, she reached for your hand and intertwined her fingers with yours, giving it a gentle squeeze.
“Hey.”
You looked over at her.
“You’re gonna be okay,” she said softly.
That familiar smile appeared on her face—the one that always made everything feel a little less overwhelming.
“I promise.”
Before you could respond, she turned back and knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, it swung open.
Standing there was a woman with dark curly hair, a warm smile, and a familiar look in her eyes.
Daniela’s mom.
You knew instantly.
“¡Ay, hija mía!”
(Ay! my girl!)
Her face lit up completely as she pulled Daniela into a tight hug, lifting her slightly off the ground.
You couldn’t help but smile at the sight.
It was obvious where Daniela got her warmth from.
After a moment, her mother finally released her, but her smile remained as her eyes shifted toward you.
Your nerves immediately returned.
You swallowed and held out your hand.
“Hi— nice to meet you.”
Your voice came out slightly more nervous than you intended.
But instead of shaking your hand, she laughed softly and pulled you into a hug.
A very tight hug.
Almost as strong as Daniela’s.
“I know who you are,” she said warmly. “I’ve watched all of your movies after Dani told me you were dating.”
Your face instantly heated.
“Oh— thank you so much.”
Ana smiled, squeezing your shoulder before stepping aside.
“Come in, come in.”
She welcomed the other girls in before you stepped inside.
Immediately, you were surrounded by warmth.
The smell of homemade food filled the house. Soft music played in the background. Laughter echoed from different rooms, and kids ran around the living room, most likely Daniela’s cousins.
It felt like a real family gathering.
And somehow, you felt like you belonged.
Daniela’s hand stayed wrapped around yours as she guided you further inside.
“Come on,” she whispered.
She led you toward the living room, where her grandparents sat comfortably in their chairs.
The second they saw her, their faces completely lit up.
“¡Mi nieta está aquí!” her abuela exclaimed, immediately standing up. “Mira cuánto has crecido.”
(my granddaughter is here! look how much you’ve grown!)
Daniela’s smile turned soft.
“Hola, abuela.”
(hi, grandma)
She hugged her grandmother tightly, laughing quietly as her abuela squeezed her.
You stood off to the side, watching the interaction with a smile.
There was something so special about seeing Daniela like this.
Not the performer onstage.
Not the person everyone knew.
Just Dani.
Their Dani.
After a moment, Daniela turned back toward you.
“Abuela, abuelo,” she said, smiling proudly. “Ella es mi novia, Y/N.”
(grandma, grandpa. this is my girlfriend, y/n)
She stepped aside so they could see you better.
You barely had time to process it before her grandmother pulled you into a hug too.
You laughed softly and hugged her back.
When she pulled away, she held your face gently in her hands, studying you.
“Dani,” she said with a smile. “Ella es muy guapa. Elegiste bien.”
(dani, she’s very beautiful. you chose well)
You immediately flushed.
Daniela laughed softly.
Her grandfather then held out his hand from his chair.
You stepped forward and shook it respectfully.
“¿Hablas español?” he asked. “¿O tengo que intentar hablar inglés?”
(do you speak Spanish? or do i have to try speaking english?)
Daniela opened her mouth, already preparing to translate.
But before she could, you answered.
“Hablo un poco de español,” you said with a small chuckle. “Entiendo más de lo que puedo hablar.”
(i speak a little spanish. i understand more than i can speak)
The room went quiet for a second.
Daniela’s eyes widened.
Her grandfather’s face immediately lit up with pride.
“Y/N?”
You looked back at her.
“Yeah?”
“Since when can you speak Spanish?”
You laughed, rubbing the back of your neck.
“Bailey’s been teaching me since the day you and I met.”
Daniela froze.
Since the day you met.
You’d been learning Spanish.
For her.
Her expression softened instantly.
Her heart felt like it might actually burst.
Her grandfather smiled knowingly.
“Dani,” he said, looking between the two of you. “Tu abuela tiene razón: elegiste a alguien bueno.”
(dani, your grandma is right, you picked a good one)
Daniela let out a quiet laugh, shaking her head like she couldn’t believe any of this was real.
Then she reached for your hand again.
“Yeah,” she whispered, looking at you. “I did, didn’t I?”
You smiled and squeezed her hand.
And suddenly…
The nerves didn’t feel so overwhelming anymore.
Because standing there, surrounded by the people who loved Daniela most, you realized something.
You weren’t just meeting her family.
You were becoming a part of it.
﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
A few hours later, the house had slowly started to settle down. The younger cousins had been picked up, the dishes were finally put away (despite everyone insisting you weren’t allowed to help), and the once loud house had turned into a comfortable hum of conversations and laughter.
You sat beside Daniela on the couch, her hand still intertwined with yours like she was afraid to let go. Every now and then, you’d catch her staring at you with this soft, almost disbelieving smile on her face.
“What?” you finally asked, turning your head toward her.
Daniela blinked, realizing she’d been caught. “Nothing.”
You raised a brow. “Dani.”
She smiled, shaking her head. “I’m just… happy.”
Your expression softened. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” She squeezed your hand gently. “I don’t know. Seeing you here, with my family… it’s just something I never thought I’d get.”
You frowned slightly. “Why not?”
Daniela shrugged, looking down at your hands. “I guess I always imagined this kind of stuff being complicated. My life is complicated. My schedule is crazy, and everything feels like it moves so fast.” She paused, smiling softly. “But with you, it doesn’t feel like that.”
Your heart warmed at her words.
“It feels easy,” she continued. “Like you’ve always been supposed to be here.”
You smiled, leaning your head against her shoulder. “You’re being cheesy.”
“Am I wrong?” She teased.
You thought for a second before shaking your head. “No.”
Daniela grinned triumphantly. “Exactly.”
A laugh escaped you, and Daniela looked over at you like that sound alone was her favorite thing in the world.
Across the room, Manon noticed the two of you and nudged Megan, who immediately followed her gaze.
“Look at them,” Manon whispered.
Megan smiled. “Finally.”
Sophia glanced over from her spot beside Lara, raising an eyebrow. “What?”
“They’re just so disgustingly cute now,” Megan joked.
Daniela immediately looked over. “I can hear you.”
“Good!” Manon called back, laughing.
You buried your face into Daniela’s shoulder, trying to hide your smile as she rolled her eyes.
“The girls are annoying,” Daniela whispered.
“You love them.”
“I do.” She sighed dramatically.
You laughed again, and Daniela smiled at the sound.
Later that night, when everyone started saying their goodbyes, you stood near the doorway with Daniela, thanking her family for welcoming you so warmly.
Ana pulled you into another hug before you left.
“Come back soon, okay?” she said.
You smiled. “I will.”
“And next time, you don’t help with dishes.” She pointed at you playfully.
You laughed. “I’ll try.”
“No trying. That’s Dani’s job.”
Daniela gasped. “Mama!”
Everyone laughed, and you watched as Daniela shook her head with a smile.
On the drive back to the hotel, Daniela rested her head against your shoulder, your fingers lazily intertwined between you.
The city lights passed by outside the window, but neither of you were paying much attention.
“You know,” Daniela said quietly.
“Hmm?”
“I think my family likes you more than they like me.”
You looked down at her, laughing. “That’s impossible.”
“No, seriously. My abuela literally told me I chose well.” She paused. “She never says that.”
Your smile softened.
“I’m glad they like me,” you admitted. “But I’m more glad that I got to see you like that tonight.”
Daniela lifted her head slightly. “Like what?”
“Happy.” You smiled. “Like really happy.”
Her expression softened, and for a moment she just looked at you.
Then she leaned up and pressed a gentle kiss to your cheek.
“You make me happy, y/n.”
Your heart fluttered, but this time there was no doubt, no overthinking, no wondering what she meant.
Because you knew.
“I love you,” you whispered.
Daniela smiled, resting her forehead against yours.
“I love you too.” she whispered back.
And for once, everything felt exactly where it was supposed to be.
