When Finn had finally woken up the relief she’d felt had been incredible. But now she was feeling every ounce of the fear and grief and the hours since she’d last slept weighing so heavily. Leaving Finn with Odette she found herself wandering towards Hayden’s office without having consciously making the decision to go. But she sorely needed to comfort being close to him provided her.
“He’s awake,” she said as she entered the office, her voice feeling hoarse from last nights tears and the lack of sleep since.

“I know…” he said softly. He’d known because he’d been there at the hospital. A steady presence should any of them need him. But he’d left as silently as he’d arrived. He gently covered Finn’s damage report with a book. Before giving her his attention.
“It’s the adrenaline.” He said as he took in the sight of her. It was painful to see. Because there wasn’t anything he could do to fix it. Helplessness was not something Hayden did well. Especially not when it came to either of his girls.
Silently, he moved from behind his desk and to her in a few strides. He cupped her face, stroking her cheek with his thumb. “Finn is safe now. As far as I know there were no casualties. And for tonight that is the best we can do.” He pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. “It’s okay. You don’t have to be strong anymore. I’ve got you.”
Somehow it didn't surprise her to find he already knew. Just as it didn't surprise her he had this job despite his youth. He was caring, attentive, observant. Even if sometimes it seemed he tried to hide it. It made he so good at what he did. And they were just some of the many things that had made her fall in love with him.
She nodded a little absently when he said it was adrenaline. Knowing what he meant and that he was almost certainly right. The come down from so much made her feel like she'd been hit by a car.
Ava looked up at him as he cupped her face. His touch instantly making it a easier to breath a little deeper. Her body finally catching up to the reality that it was over. Finn was safe, he was ok. They all were. She felt the tears starting to burn, felt her chin start to wobble. Because he was right. She was safe here, with him. She could truly let down her walls, let it all out. The tears started to fall. "I was so scared," she knew he already knew that, but it felt could to admit it. "All I could think was not again, this can't be happening again,"
