About Time | Ava and Rosa

Despite her discomfort Rosaline couldnât stop a smile spreading across her features as she saw Ava expertly carrying her baby and just how good and natural she looked doing it. âFashionably late in order to create maximum impact, sheâs picked up my bad habits already,â she teased. As her cousin settled on the bed and she caught her first glimpse of her goddaughter Rosaline was overcome with emotion and her good hand reached out to squeeze Avaâs arm. âAva⌠Ava sheâs beautiful,â she whispered, voice cracking with the emotion. The hand that had been on her cousins arm moved to ever so gently caress Nataliaâs cheek. âI see so much of you in her. Iâm so sorry I wasnât there, I would have been right by your side if IâŚâ she trailed off, blinking back tears and took a deep breath. âDoes it feel real yet?â
Ava laughed, grinning at her cousin as she nodded, âOh definitely.â She settled beside her carefully and at the squeeze to her arm she looked over, her smile softening. She lowered her arms and shifted enough for Rosa to get a good look, knowing sheâd have to wait to truly hold the baby, but for now this would hopefully be sufficient. âShe is, right?â Ava breathed out, practically in awe as she looked down at her daughter. Her emotions just heightened even more as Rosa spoke and she shook her head, shifting closer to lean her head against her cousinâs. âItâs okay. Youâre here now. And youâre okay. Rosie I donât know what I wouldâve done if you werenât....â she felt pressure building behind her eyes and she sniffled, trying to keep herself composed and instead shook her head, âNot really. Itâs almost overwhelming, but...in a good way? If that makes sense?â
