I’m not sure it would work like that? Because L, the detective who was going after Light, used L as their name instead of their real name because they thought that the serial killer needed the true name of the person in order to kill them.

Actual, literal Light Yagami here!

From what I remember from my testing, any name a person consider's to be 'their's' would kill them. So a person named Robert, who also goes by Rob could be killed by either name. But if Robert had a different name when he was younger that he no longer uses or considers his, that name can't kill him.

An alias wouldn't kill you, but you have to be careful that it stays an alias. I definitely remember killing quite a few criminals using what had once been their aliases.

#so i dont know whether or not L was his 'real' name #but he considered it his name enough that it was the name that killed him #ALSO!#im not 100% sure about this since testing it was too dangerous #but using a name that a person doesnt consider theirs counts as a mispelling!#so if you tried to kill someone who's name you thought you knew #but they had given you an alias instead #they wont die #and if you intentionally use a name that you know that person doesnt use #that could kill you if done enough times #so if someone tried to kill someone they knew was trans and who no longer goes by their birth name #by using their birth name #the trans person wouldnt die but the death note user could if they did it enough #light yagami kinfeels /#death note /#murder /

It’s funny though. Some of the stuff that would be seen as otherkin “taking it to far” or whatever is literally stuff my dad did with me when I was a kid. And like maybe that had some effect on me becoming otherkin in some way?

But like, when I was a kid, we’d ALWAYS refer to our hands as paws and our feet as hooves. Not in a “no you don’t have hands/feet! You have paws/hooves!” Kind of way, but like just they were pretty much interchangeable with each other? Animals didn’t have hands or feet (sort of), but we definitely had paws and hooves.
