I ended up having a really interesting conversation with some people at the bus stop today. They were getting out of some sort of āclean and soberā meeting and had starting saying how they were so bored because they didnāt have anything to do, and had to stay at home because all their old friends would pull them back. So I said something like, āSo this is the time to do all the stuff your parents told you they didnāt have money/time for!ā āWhatcha mean?ā āYou know, like when you were five and you REALLY wanted to have that toy or do that thing and you were like, āPlease mom please I gotta have this I gotta go do thisā and they went āHell no you think Iām paying for that do you want to goddamn EAT?ā ā And this light went on in their eyes. The lady is going to go check thrift stores for an Easybake Oven and I told her about Wilton cake decorating classes. The dude is going to Griffith Park and ride horses, because, āI always wanted to be a cowboy, and you canāt drink when youāre on a horse ācause youāll fucking die!ā Fuck it. This is what being an adult is. Sure itās bills and work and relationships, but damn it, itās also time to do the things you LIKE. I signed up for a free class/lecture on Water Gardens. Iām going. Itās time.
Jill. Jill you are wonderful.
no joke, this is such an important aspect of overcoming trauma. I mean the trauma of abusive parents, the trauma of broke ass parents who got toxic because of it, the trauma of capitalism. Like fuck it. Go to Wrestlemania. Build a shit ton of terrariums.
Adding on to say this is just genuinely such a good practice to keep yourself from relapsing (be it addiction or depression). I finally started going to seminars about topics Iām really interested in again and watching documentaries and going for walks in the park for hours and buying myself dinosaur figurines - all for the first time since I got insanely depressed almost 15 years ago. I thought I didnāt have the energy to pursue my passions and childhood interests for the longest time when in reality I was afraid theyād remind me of how much time I āwastedā being depressed and how much happier I used to be.
What I found itās actually doing is letting me re-discover my childhood wonder, my curiosity and my love for life. I really recommend everyone whoās finally comming out of a depression do this because since I started, I have less and less moments where I get glum from regret and sadness of how much I missed and how many mistakes I made. Itās helped me accept this bad time in my life so much and is also showing what I really survived all these years for. Iām finally realising Iām inside the light at the end of the tunnel and itās beautiful!

Between Hans and Henry, Hans would be the first to eat **s
inspired by my own drunken henry rambling through the woods near nebakov before the wedding
imagining a much less dramatic confrontation with istvan
Thanks for the advice, my man, but I honestly think hunching over the anvil is the least of the worries for Henry's back. Like, considering how he is carrying the Wenceslas faction on his back... Or how often I have him sleep in full plate armor...
and again our beautiful damsel in distress hans capon
inspired by the post in twitter again!

Armored breastplate crafted by Filippo Negroli (fl.1532-51), made of metal. Currently part of the collection at the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence, Italy.
biblically accurate armor
It's really unfortunate when you miss someone who has hurt you.
Wrong gif. Sorry.
one of my favorite sokka scenes from avatar :) This idea spawned from @mixermixey's post about the rooms at the Devil's Den - [here] Specifically the fact that Henry's bed has a curtain. And Dry Devil's bed being in the same spot next door, and the shit he probably hears. Might I add the possibility of him drunkenly wandering to the wrong bed at the wrong time.
the silver lining for Hynek is he was probably so god damn wasted thereās no way heād remember it until the next day.
Hans on the other hand? Living in fear forever now
The Tolling of the Bell compilation
so this is how I find out āfor whom the bell tollsā is an actual saying and not just,,, a sick ass title for a quest in kcd2 huh
(For me) Spock's the ultimate fantasy that you can have close relationships (and be loveable) while autistic.
same thing with Data tbh! I love how him and Spock represent some pretty different autistic experiences on interpreting ones emotions and the (in-)ability to relate to other peoples emotions that arenāt autistic. I love them sm

I will lock in tomorrow like nobody has ever locked in before
if the universe wanted me to lock in maybe it shouldāve considered making locking tf in more fun
One time this man approached me in a bar talking in Spanish. So I assumed he was Spanish and we started speaking, we had a whole ass conversation and at some point he was like. So what part of Spain are you from? And I said well Iām Italian actually. What part of Spain are you from? And he was like. Iām Greek.
One time I was in Argentina and I was so tired of trying to speak Spanish because Iām not very good at it lmao so I broke into exasperated English and the retail seller girl quickly understood me and engaged me in conversation. We talked for a while, she introduced me to a makeup brand, and then I decided to buy it. While she was packaging the purchase, she asked me if I were from the US or perhaps the UK and I just said āoh no Iām Brazilian hahahā and she looked me straight in the eyes and said, in clear Portuguese, āIām Brazilian tooā
When my dad went to China on a work trip, his Mandarin speaking wasnāt great but his listening was fine (his first language is Cantonese) and he encountered a German guy who had moved to China to work. My dad knew how to speak German because he studied it in university (but wasnāt great when it came to listening to new vocab he hadnāt studied before), and the German guy knew Mandarin because he lived and worked in China, so they had a conversation where my dad spoke to the German guy in German and the guy responded in Mandarin. Iām sure it confused a lot of their coworkers who just saw the Asian guy speaking German and the white guy speaking Mandarin.
Some years ago, I worked for a manufacturing company that had a service depot in China.Ā One of the engineers from the main office here in the US spent most of his time at the depot.Ā The problem was that he didnāt speak *any* of the various Chinese languages, and no one at the depot spoke any English. They all, however, spoke Spanish.
I love the world
Vaguely reminds me of the time my dad had some work friends over and one of them was telling us about their camping trip to croatia. In the camping place, they happened to have a german as a neighbour whom they befriended. My dads coworker is from the german speaking part of switzerland so youād assume theyād get on swimmingly conversation-wise, right?
Well. Not quite. Turns out the guy was from a part of germany where people speak with such a strong dialect that they couldnāt understand a word this man said ā even if the guy did his very best to speak high german. And since swiss people are generally equally incapable of speaking clear german, these two had to converse in english for a full two weeks. On occasion theyād forget words in english and say them in their dialect, but apparently that also only worked about half the time so one of them (I forget whether the german guy or swiss guy) had to resort to buying an actual english-german dictionary a couple days in (this was before smartphones). To speak to someone with the same native language on paper.
Absolutely mindboggling.
