hanbon: okay i imagine she got turned fairly recently, like 199..5..ish. Anthony got turned much earlier and has therefore been witness to various historical events and is constantly teasing her about this. To add on to this, she sometimes feels like she’s just pretending, like she puts on this “vampire accent” whatever that means and tries to dress like one for a long time, feeling like that’s what she’s supposed to do. It takes her years before she finds out that none of that is necessary. Oh , also she struggles with the fact she can’t go in the sun. Idk how vampire AUs work, maybe there’s some kinda fix for that, but still it’s her number one complaint about being a vampire. Also, she works for a vampire orphanage. Despite still figuring herself out, she teaches little baby vampires how to function in society, and this is what helps her find her place in a way.
Coy: Okay idk if this is a stretch, but in one of his old lives he talked about how he wasn’t allowed to say the word gay growing up, which kinda made me think maybe his family was kind of traditional growing up. So, in vampire AU terms, his family thought being a vampire was a disgrace. Maybe they thought vampires were stuff of legends and not even real. Regardless, when he got turned, i’m thinking sometime in like the 1800s, he tried hide it for a while. Obviously there were factors that made it hard, almost impossible to hide- so after a few months he inevitably ran away from home, this is also where he meets anthony. Yippee!
Anthony: This man has been a vampire for a hot sec. Like centuries. His immediate family, mom dad and siblings, are all vampires which made it easier, but far from easy. I’m imagining the middle ages in europe were a very dangerous time for vampires, so they likely lived in a very remote place. Maybe even a nomad group with two or three other vampire families. As much as he brags about being alive so long, his life honestly wasn’t great before he met the other three. He had been alive for centuries but his life started the day he met coy. If that makes any sense
Will: Okay he was the hardest one to come up with. So i hope this is sufficient? Okay i think he was very fascinated with vampire culture as a child- maybe a teen, but grew out of it. Well, he grew out of it forcefully, believing that his obsession was something an angst teen should have, not a functioning adult. His, idk if i can say canonical, but real life lore of running away still applies in this universe. I think he unknowingly moves in with coy hanbon and anthony when he’s like 24. Inevitably he finds out that they’re all vampires, and this causes his previous hyper-fixation to come back full force. He HATES this. Like he considers moving out because of it. But by this time the four of them are far too bonded.
Also. Polycule. “You can’t just insert bunch of lovers into every au!” stfu yes i can. This is also an important detail because it leads to the decision of turning will into a vampire. This is a very tough decision they make. Hanbon is against it (not out of traditionalism or anything just fear of something going wrong), Anthony is for it, and Coy is very much on the fence about it. On one hand, he doesn’t want want something to go wrong and to lose the boy he loves, but if they don’t do this then he will still lose will, just later in life. Eventually, Will talks to Coy about how he’s constantly felt like he was born in the wrong body and has constant dysphoria, which coerces Coy into being for the transformation process. In the end, all goes right and they are a happy little vampire polycule. Yay!
Bonus message, like halfway into writing will’s paragraph I realized it could be taken as a metaphor for being transgender. So take that how you will. Haha will. Also i’m not trans so I can’t confirm or deny. Oh also I’ve only read like one vampire au thing and it was a one shot so idrk the rules of it…yeah. I hope this made sense
