“A teaching moment.” He repeated, his tone sardonic at the suggestion of Jaune being his ‘teacher’. But alas, he was given little of choice but than to follow the blonde haired huntsman. Despite himself he felt more inclined to stay close to the other man when the noise presumed. At the very least, he could use him as a human shield. It was dangerous, and Jaune was just jumping in like there was nothing to fear. All they had was a pointy stick he called a sword, they were hardly prepared if it was a monster of some sort. “Not this house.” Whitley declared stubbornly. “I’m not the one who has a lot of nerve here.” He frowned, not liking the situation one bit. It wasn’t like he was trained for this, going into trouble without defense was an idiot’s ploy. “If I die, I’m haunting you.” He warned with the utmost seriousness. 

“If you have the nerve to be indgnant to me, you can find the nerve against anything that goes bump in the night, and that’s a poor threat when my Semblance is literally super charged healing. and can you honestly tell me you’ve paid this much attention to little creaks and groans since Grimm have gotten more plentiful here. It’s just as possible that it’s nothing dangerous as it is something dangerous, and we can handle both.” He stated moving upward in the house towards the attic.

    “That’s right. That’s a thing you can do. Pretty handy Semblance you got there.” Emerald gave a faint smile. “The power to heal more than hurt those around you. I think our abilities together could really be useful against those creeps.”

“Do you-….Do you really thing we can stop her? Will this really work?” 

Her question was hard for him to answer quickly but he could answer it. “Well. Yeah, I think we can. I don’t think there truly no way to stop anyone. Though that does go for us too. It will be hard, and probably will be very particular in how we have to take her down. But, I do.” His smile returned to its full form.

    Neo didn’t take long. Even though she was tiny apparently she rivaled Nora in strength since the young thief came back with two large bundles of wood. She grinned proudly before setting them down and rubbing her shoulder some as she did. Fixing their pile up some, she threw a few logs on the fire and slumped on the ground next to Juane with a tired expression. All this walking was getting more and more annoying. And she wasn’t the only one feeling that way…

He gently awoke from his rest to see the bundles of wood. His eyes shifted from the wood, to Neo, back to the wood and he laughed. “You uhh, You’re a lot stronger than you look aren’t ya? Or...I was asleep a lot longer than I thought I was.” He said as he smiled at Neo before he yawned again. “I think...” His speech becoming a bit broken up.

“True, but I still appreciate it all the same.” Pyrrha told him, lightly resting her head on his shoulder after a few moments of hesitating and wondering whether or not she should. She trusted him to tell her outright if he didn’t want her to do that. She giggled at his words and his wink. “Never.” She agreed.

His question surprised her. “Well, my mom is really quiet, but she’s also really sweet, and a good cook.” She started to talk about them. “My dad is a retired Huntsman, one of the most renowned in Argus. He seems like a really threatening guy, but he’s also really sweet.”

Jaune could only imagine what Pyrrha’s father was like if he was where she got her huntress genes from. It was kinda petrifying to just consider. Her head on his shoulder felt nice, natural. His pining for a girlfriend seemed to be turned on its head in the way that he had connected with Pyrrha, the least likely one he would have if you were to ask him when he had come to beacon.

She could feel his gaze on her, watching as his eyes drifted across the scars on her arms and neck that she wasn’t able to cover. Nora shifted a bit, overly conscious of how it seemed to last forever. “I’m fine, Jaune. Really. Gonna take a lot more than that to keep me down and out!” 

“Yeah, yeah.” A small laugh as she rolls her eyes. “I’m gonna do what needs to be Jaune. Nothing more, nothing less.” She poked him lightly in the chest. “You better get back to me in one piece too, you hear me?”

“I’d do nothing else. Besides I think coming back in different pieces might be old hat. I don’t think I could do Cybernetics.” He said, though gave a quick glance for Yang in case she took offense to that but then looked back to Nora. “I’ll do my best to get back no matter what happens. Besides, someone has to keep you and Ren in check.” He stated with a little nudge of his elbow.

Pyrrha nodded, smiling genuinely at him. “Of course we will, Jaune.” She said, and the promise was easy enough to make, even if she wasn’t 100% sure she could keep it. Not that she’d say this however. She grinned at his words. “I mean, that wouldn’t bother me at all. I’d love to meet your sisters.” She told him genuinely. “And the rest of your family, of course.”

“If you don’t mind, I’d like to just sit here and enjoy the nice weather.” She said, smiling a little at his words before opening her eyes to look seriously at him. “You get all my time because you treat me like a person, not just my skills or my status as a celebrity.” She told him without so much as a shred of hesitation.

“Well, it helped that I didn’t really know, and even after finding out.” He shrugged. “Still just a nice girl named Pyrrha, just one with the meanest slap on campus that she’d never let loose on purpose.” Giving her a wink as they sat under the tree together. then paused.

    Neo nodded before stopping. Stopping and making the sign for ‘here’. She was tired and there was no way they were making it to that stupid tree tonight. After a moment she pulled something small from her back pocket and threw it at him. It  was a lighter that had Roman’s infamous jack-o-lantern crest on it, an obvious sign that it once belonged to her partner. Another token she kept of him on her person at all times apparently like his hate and scarf.

‘I’ll get us firewood. Don’t mess that up either. I’m trusting you to return that lighter to me once all of this is said and done.’ She signed with a firm look on her face. She use to light his cigars with it. He trusted her with his lighter in the same way she was trusting Jaune with it now. A weird token of trust that passed as friendship. A bond.

He looked at the lighter, not having to guess where it came from and Jaune would take good care of it. Putting it into his pocket for now, Firewood would be good, but nothing was all that flammable on them Except. “Hmmm, well. I might be a bit colder but.” Jaune slowly took off his armor getting out his hoodie and under shirt. Weighting the options. “Well, there’s more to this, t-shirt will burn easier...” Then a smarter realization came on him.
