laughingstock-ofhell:
“Yeah, a snake demon,” Toeth said, pointing to his costume. “The red skin, the black veins, the eyes, everything. Aside from the blue parts, it’s pretty accurate.” Seriously? He should know, given how acquainted his family was with demons. Well, maybe they were giving him too hard a time. The snakes that Toeth had acquainted with weren’t often the ones summoned up to the Earth for the sake of random witches, so perhaps he wasn’t too familiar with them, but still. Toeth was disappointed.
A… a spider man? Now Toeth was interested. Watching him remove his mask, her eyebrows furrowed at the sight of his face. Okay, a normal human face, but it did have some interesting features. Like… frogs? Toeth didn’t know for sure, and if it weren’t for Alexis muttering random crap in the back of their shared head ( something something August pure nice whatever ), Toeth would have an easier time figuring out what August’s face looked like.
Toeth squeezed their eyes shut, trying to block out what Alexis was shouting back there, and when that didn’t work, they instead welcomed her shouting, if only to decipher what was being said.
August I’m sorry, I’m sorry about my friends just please get out just run before you-
Oh my fuck, Alexis, shut UP!
“What’s a spider man?” Toeth asked, pointing to his costume again, and then to his bucket of… whatever that was. “And why do you have that?”
“Oh! I... I didn’t know how snake demons looked like so...”, he commented quietly as he looked down at his costume. What the hell was a snake demon, though? Probably he could dive into his family’s obscure books and look for a picture or at least a description; yeah, yeah, a description was good, he had a good imagination and maybe an actual image wouldn’t be pretty, he was too much of a coward and his stomach wasn’t as strong.
“Yes, yes! Spider-Man!”, he commented happily, although the girl’s expression seemed puzzled and it just occurred to him that maybe she didn’t know who Spider-Man was. It was weird, yeah, but not everybody had to know... right? There was a weird sensation on his temple, like his magical intuition was trying to tell him something as “Alexis” seem to be having some kind of... headache?
“A--- are you o---?”, but he was interrupted again by the hidden demon in Alexis’ body. “Spider-Man is a superhero. He goes around saving people, he was a normal guy until he got bit by a radioactive spider and got spider powers! He is super strong, agile, can climb walls and can release spider webs from the wrists. He uses all these things to fight the bad guys”, August explained as he jumped around and even hopped on a park bench nearby, letting his inner child have fun with the explanation. Then, he looked down at the candy and felt a blush creep to his face; he was OBVIOUSLY judging him, because let’s be honest, a twenty-two year old in full costume trick-or-treating? August felt the anxiety ball in his chest as he scratched the back of his head and hid the bag behind his back.
“I--- uhm, it’s--- it’s nothing, I just--- this is....”, but how can you hide the fact that you were celebrating Halloween like a child? “Candy is cool, I--- I guess?”
