The characters are cardboard cutouts built on tropes. The story tells you things about their personalities but they don't really shine through based on their actions or thoughts or dialogue. The dialogue is sort of wooden. The book is technically set in Regency England and is 'vaguely historical' but does very little with both its setting and magical worldbuilding. If it did not say so on the cover I would not know when the story took place. The fae are there but don't seem to do anything. I couldn't tell you anything about them. Magic only has implications when the story demands it but nothing is ever explained. There are words typed on the page in the form of sentences. That's something I can say about the book.
