You know, the thing about Asgore is that even though he was stated to be angry, and that was why he declared war and such, we never saw his anger on-screen. So when I thought of Asgore, I thought of the guy who was polite and regretful even as he patiently waited for me to decide when I was ready to fight him to death.

The Girl With Hope Crossed On Her Heart

Listen, I'm no princess ralsei truther myself (feels rude*), but the analysis I've seen of chapter 5 text and subtext really make a valid claim that we might be going in that direction.

I think it's pretty forward* to start immediately using she/her for Ralsei, but it's done with such joy. People pointing at Ralsei and going "At last! The girl!"

...Which could mean nothing.

*By which I mean that Ralsei's whole character arc is to find out how to live for Ralsei and not shape his sense of self based on what other people think or want, so I will be continuing to use he/him pronouns until he specifically states otherwise. It's rude to out people when they... want to remain...

I don't think it's explicitly stated in the text, but there is a definite "thing" going on in chapter 5 where Flowery is like "I am the coolest strongest richest person in this world" and Ralsei is "you're not supposed to do that!!! it's dangerous!!!" and Flowery is all "you could too, if you let yourself go" and Ralsei is like "But Then Something Bad Will Happen". I can get the screenshots for these things later.

But I think, what's happening here, where Flowery's fake stats are 9999 forever... I think the term is God Mode Sue. He's always invincible, and if you thought you hurt him, no you didn't. He can do this, because he's in the dark world, and the dark world is basically a game of playing pretend. In the dark world, pencils can pretend to be swords, brushes can pretend to be axes, and flowers can pretend to be humans, so why couldn't a darkener pretend to be all-powerful?

Well. The main problem with pretending to be all-powerful when you're playing with someone else...

Is that they might think you're not playing fair. And then refuse to play along. And then, they might even stop playing with you.
