people talk all the time about how soulless sam was creepy for letting dean turn into a vampire while completely ignoring the creepy look in dean's eyes when he tells freshly raped and violated sam that he would do it (violate sam) again. 'creep dean is not real' my ass.
and you know what makes this dean even creepier than soulless sam? he has his soul intact. say what you want, but to me, living with an abuser (and i say it lovingly because i love how insane dean is!), who knows he hurts you and keeps doing it is way scarier than being betrayed once by someone without a soul.
and it is also worth noting that soulless sam is punished through brutality! he gets beaten down, knocked unconscious, and fixed by force! sam is punished and feels guilty once he is re-souled. dean violates sam and feels no comparable guilt (and sam almost immediately forgives him anyway).

yeah!! we all know what could have happened to sam if cas had not shown up just in time to save him from demon dean ..
mark of cain era wincest is so underrated but this arc is SO good because you can tell dean crossed serious boundaries with sam (raped him) at least once. there is no other way to explain why sam starts flinching around him post-seasons 9-10. the show is incredibly clear about how violent and rapey mark of cain / demon dean was toward sam and how genuinely afraid sam was of him.
may this fandom realise that the person who loves you enough to die for you can still retain the capacity to hurt you immensely. abuse does not necessarily happen in the absence of love, it happens in the absence of respect and understanding.
the fact that sam canonically flinches around lucifer AND dean. which could mean nothing.

cannot stop thinking about sam's canon stockholm syndrome and how much worse it gets in later seasons. the way he starts to see the cruel treatment and abuse he was subjected to as something good that happened to him. his perspective on how dean treated him during the demon blood era :

when i am talking about a more submissive version of sam, i am not inventing this out of nowhere. i am not mischaracterizing sam or erasing his strength. i chose to center my blog about sam's vulnerability, trauma, and abuse. why would i talk about how sam is big and strong and angry when 99% of the fandom already talks about it?
every time someone is like 'look how huge and masculine sam is here' i am like yeah, cool, that is interesting. but also! did you know jared has talked about sam feeling uncomfortable about his height around dean? about sam wanting to be restrained? did you notice how sam makes himself small when dean hugs him or manhandles him, how he flinches when dean gets angry, how he offers his body up to be hurt just to placate dean?
idk. i just think only caring about sam when you want to emphasize how big and toppy he is whilst completely ignoring his vulnerability and the submissive body language he shows around his brother is kind of boring!
sam goes through so much. he is raped by lucifer and michael. he is punished and hurt by dean. he literally flinches at dean's anger in later seasons. he has self-harm tendencies. he forgives dean for taking his autonomy away over and over again. he is a colette to dean's cain. he is trapped in a life he never wanted, and he learns how to live in it, even love it. he becomes a mommy for jack and dean, and yeah, he enjoys it, enjoys being nurturing and soothing. as he gets older, he becomes more submissive. quieter. less interested in fighting and more focused on keeping the peace and taking care of his brotherhusband. there is no reason to argue against it. ignoring it does not make it go away, it just makes the reading flatter!
i did not make this blog to repeat what 99% of the fandom already says. i made it to talk about the parts everyone else ignores, minimizes or rewrites away.
fanon dean is not mean enough. if you cannot accept the fact that he is abusive and manipulative to sam in canon, then at least make him mean! he canonically hit sam while sam was dealing with severe head trauma. he made rape jokes about sam while sam was suffering from the consequences of his body being tortured and violated. he guilt tripped sam about wanting to get out of hunting. he locked sam in the panic room and said he would let him rot in there.
dean is disgusting and mean when it comes to his brotherwife, and we should appreciate it more.
i do not really believe that young dean protected sam from john 24/7 because john mentions in his journal that dean almost hit sam after sam told them he was going to college. dean and john both were physically abusive to young sam.
if dean is not abusive then why sam's battered wife body language ..
