worn out converse sneakers hit the ground on the exact rhythm of silverchair’s freak as the song blares through her headphones. a mane of blonde hair covers her face as she sketches on her notebook, only breaking the gaze away from the page to look at the beautiful scene that unfolds before her as the sun meets the sea and the sky is covered in shades of orange. she didn’t really like the beach, especially not in the summertime. she didn’t like the way sand would get everywhere and definitely wasn’t fond of the way the sun would leave her completely burnt, despite applying loads of sunscreen. but the sea was one of her favorite things to draw. she could waste hours watching the sea, getting lost in that infinite unknown. it made her feel calm, made her problems seem small in a sort of way. she catches herself smiling, the pencil running across the page until the light is blocked. looking up with a frown, she sees that someone has stopped just a few feet away from her, blocking out her view completely. “ hey, doofus! ” she yells to try and catch their attention, annoyed. she usually was quiet and reserved but that was her moment. she didn’t want someone ruining it. “ you know what would be really cool? ” a small, forced smile appears on her face but it’s gone in seconds. “ if you’d get the hell out of my way. ”

JOAN: Hey Santiago. I'm good! I'm actually free in five minutes. Which cafe, though?
