the   voice   takes   her   aback.   or   more   so   the   urgency   in   the   tone   is   what   surprises   her.    her   brows  furrow,  ever  so   lightly,   but   she   complies,   fingers   threading   together   with   sylva’s.    “   did   something    happen  ?   ”     her   first   instinct   is   to   think   that   something   unpleasant   happened.   wars   and   strategies   being   her   primary   concerns,   not   necessarily   because   she   wants   to   but   for   the   necessity   of   survival,   for   her   own   value   among   her   clan.     the   possibility   of   being   a   pleasant   surprise   escapes   her   mind   but   nevertheless   she’s   ready   to   be   there   for   whatever   it   is.

he   nods   at   bellamy’s   words,   holding  on   the   cage   bars   to   sit   up.   a   feeling   of    regret   overcomes   him,   because   matthias   realises   that   he   may   had   misjudged   him.      “   thank   you.  ”     bellamy   is   here   risking   everything   to   get   them   out   and   that’s   more   than   enough   to   earn   his   respect.   “   i   think   there’s   a   key   in   one   of   those   drawers...   ”     he   hadn’t   been   fully   conscious   the   last   time   they’d   moved   him   so   he   can’t   be   sure.   but   maybe   there   is   one   with   the   stolen,   he   assumes,   uniform.

the   first   instinct   is   to   hide   away   her   bandaged  arm,   pulling   at   her    sleeve   to   cover   it.    black   already   seeping   through   the   bandage.    hiding   has   become   her   second   nature.    but   she   reminds  herself   that   she   doesn’t   have   to   hide   it   anymore,  not   with   luna.    “   well,   getting   here   wasn’t   exactly   easy.  ”     she   offers   a   light   chuckle   and   small   smile,  trying   to   lighten   the   situation.   it’d   been   easier   to   lay   low   before   when   she   wasn’t   a   warrior   but   simply   a   girl   drawing   maps   of   the   area   her   clan   resided   in.   but   after   lexa’s   death   more   people   came   asking   questions   so   she   fled   in   fear   of   being   put   in   a   position  that   she   wasn’t   truly   meant   for.     so   alina   forces   herself   to   relax   her   body   posture.   “   it’s   nothing   really,   just   a   scratch.   ”    she   insists,   not   wanting   to   make   a   big   deal   out   of   a   simple   cut.
