Are there any limits to what content this event will allow?
We're trying to let each pair write the stories they'd have the most fun writing and trusting people to be mature adults about the content they present. With that said, there are some practical considerations:
The prompt needs to be followed. (the collection is about giving and receiving gifts for valentine's day and white day)
We're encouraging each fic to be at least close to 3k
It's more or less a romance collection. I'm not going to nitpick if a teams wanted to write a platonic (instead of romantic) version of their characters gift giving. Nor would I complain if some deathshippers wanted to add some horror for ship-flavor, but like...a fic where everyone is miserable, suffers, and dies at the end because there were razor blades in the chocolates isn't really fitting the vibe, y'know? So let's avoid incest, pedophila, non-con, major character death, or other extreme scenarios please.

A Tale of Two Chocolates: Valentine & White Day Fic Exchange General Information
Fandom: Yugioh Duel Monsters Prompt: We're keeping the prompts simple. Valentine Fic: Character gets chocolate for Valentine's Day. White Day Fic: The Character who received chocolate gives the Other Character chocolate on White Day. Everything else is up to the writers! Whether this is a comic disaster or a sweet mutual pining resolved or if the chocolate is filled with chili flakes as a prank or a friends to lovers story will be up for each team to decide. Is the fic soft and fluffy? A little angsty? Spicy? Again, all up to the writers. Plot, pwp, everything is welcomed within reasonable boundaries, but since it's a timed event, please keep your outlines manageable and don't get too ambitious to avoid dropouts. We do ask, however, that participants do their best to write at least 3,000 words for their fics.
This exchange is a little different....
Normally, an exchange is supposed to be a gift for the other person, but in this event, we encourage teams to work on their fics together. Outline together, beta each other's work, have fun! This exchange is more like your combined Valentine and White Day gifts to the readers instead of to each other (it's two cakes! well, chocolates!) If you're comfortable, you can even co-write both fics together if you'd prefer, although that's absolutely not required--just a fun option! It's going to be each team's choice how they write their fics. You can do a double blind story exchange (get your outlines together and then write your stories separately w/o showing your partner until posting day) or you can just be each other's betas, or you can be full co-conspirators and write together in whatever way seems fun! There are no wrong answers, and we'll do our best to pair up ppl with similar preferences so everyone has fun!
