#drawthisinyourstyle challenge entry for @marlavonduta ‘s beautiful artwork, “The Spring Lady” This is my first #dtiys piece and found this quite challenging since I’m used to doing portrait studies from photo references. Had to figure out areas of light and shadow based off on what I think I know about them. Still a long way off in studying these. Gave up on adding the background flora. I spent a lot of time looking at plant and flower references for the hat. I thought a bunch of paint blobs stacked together could pass convincingly as bougainvilleas lol. Finished this portrait study piece way past the #90minuteartchallenge . Wanted to apply the things I've learned during the OWP challenge but couldn’t get past the blending stage post 90 mins lol! Still wanted to finish this because I've never painted anything with this kind of lighting. Should've separated the cast shadow on another layer instead of trying to blend everything in one. >_< Wasted so much time! So this is what I've come up with after 8 hours... of blending the @#%@#$@! shadow. LMAO!
