Barbatos: Lord Diavolo.

Diavolo: *is doing paperworks* Yes?

Barbatos: *looking serious* I will never abandon you.

Diavolo: ... Thank you...? But why this statement suddenly?

Barbatos: *puts both hands on Diavolo’s shoulders, looking even more serious* You don’t need to know.

Diavolo: ...

Barbatos: I will stay by your side until the end of time. Even if one day you come to fire me, I will stay at Devildom to watch over you. Always.

Barbatos: I serve you not out of duty, but because I WANT to. I care about you.

Diavolo: *remains completely silent, doesn’t know what to say*

Barbatos: But if one day I 'decided' to leave you, it will be either because my presence would put you in danger, or because someone has replaced me with a clone who does not deserve you.

Barbatos: And if it is the case of the doppelgänger, kill him without hesitation.

Barbatos: Have you understood, Young Master?

Diavolo: *hesitant, anxious* I think, yes...?

Barbatos: *smiles* Perfect then. I’m going to prepare some tea and pastries, because it makes me happy to serve you and that for eternity. *goes to prepare the snacks*

Diavolo: ...

Diavolo: *sighs with sadness* He must have seen a timeline where he abandons me, right...? I feel sorry for the other Diavolo, but I’m happy that my Barbatos is very different.

Diavolo: I hope his Lucifer is still by his side, at least.

Seriously, I didn’t play IDO and never I will. I downloaded the app a long time ago but from everything I saw and all the comments I heard, I was terribly disappointed. But the worst? It’s Barbatos.

BARBATOS CARES ABOUT DIAVOLO! HE WOULD NEVER ABANDON HIM LIKE THIS?!

In the two previous games, it’s been said and shown several times that Barbatos serves Diavolo because he WANTS to! He adores him! TAKING CARE and SERVING is literally his way of showing his affection to those he loves (platonically and romantically). Unless his role puts Diavolo in danger, Barbatos would never abandon him like that.

NEVER.

If OM.Barbatos and NB.Barbatos could, they would hit IDO.Barbatos. And let's not talk about Lucifer...

Over a year ago I had a dream about the brothers being a group of rogue and orphaned children who formed a family together.

Like, all of his siblings have known him, first known him, in the Celestial Realm before the shaky peace between them and the Devildom started and the wars stopped, making his position as Admiral of the Celestial Navy useless.

It really just clicked for me. He was more confident in himself before and likely didn't hide away in his room and had no reason to fully emerse himself in fantasy and games as a coping mechanism because he was useful and fufilled (at the time).

Those behaviors started in the Celestial Realm because he felt useless now that his highly valued position wasn't needed anymore (at least not as actively as it was) but it really must have fully taken him over when they fell, encouraged by the biological changed happening to him as he turned into a demon.

The pychological affect of falling from God's grace is truly crippling.

All of his siblings watched their beloved, once confident brother fall into a deep, dark pit of self-degredation and hatred and percieved uselessness until he became the Leviathan we know and met in the games.

He wasn't always so miserable and I wonder just how much that breaks his brothers hearts, escpecially Lucifer and Mammon as his older brothers, when they think about it too hard.
