“You were right about how good the food here is,” Rosa polished off another one of her chili fries with a noise of content. “I am wondering if you brought me here because you knew I’d be too busy eating to talk your ear off about Occamys or something– would I be right in that assumption? If it’s the case I have to say that I really respect the creativity of your tactic,” she laughed, obviously just teasing but she also knew she could get overly passionate about things too.

Astrid sipped her diet coke as she watched her cousin chow down her meal. “Nope, I have no idea what you’re talking about Ro,” she smirked. “But go on, tell me about your beasts since I can see you’ve been ready to burst since we’ve been sat.” Astrid did love her enthusiasm for the subject. “I also wanna know if you can get me into Hogwarts, like as a special visitor or something. See what all these people are talking about when they say they went to the best school in the world,” she rolled her eyes lightly.

Sam rolled his eyes at her response. “Positively swoon? I don’t think anyone out there is swooning at me doing my job. For all they know, I could be a stuck up asshole.”

“No one that helps little kids is a stuck up asshole,” she countered. “They think you’re selfless and whatnot. Surprised you’ve not had loads of suitors knocking down your doors over it to be honest.”

Sam let out a small groan. “I get into a few fights in Castelobruxo and I’ll never live it down, do I? Don’t you think I’m a changed man, Astrid?”

“You probably are but that doesn’t mean I won’t stop teasing you about it for the rest of your life, Sammie,” Astrid smirked, a manicured fingernail poking into his arm. “You’re making up for it at least, healing kids for a living. Some person will see that and positively swoon knowing you do that out of the kindness of that little heart in there.”

“Well if that’s the case why don’t you move, you’re the one who approached my space, not the other way around.” She shrugged, clearly not as bothered as the other was about being in one another’s presence. “Mm, it has been said, one of my more redeeming qualities if you ask me.” She smirked, knowing the shorter woman was bound to become more frustrated that her words didn’t phase her in the slightest. “Like you said, there is plenty of space, so you’re more than free enough to move and rectify the situation that only you have a problem with.”

“No. You were the one who approached me first. I was having a wonderful time before you landed in my orbit and decided to talk to me,” Astrid corrected the other. “Is it now? I have never, once, heard insufferable being used as a compliment,” she huffed, annoyed at how the other was trying to turn her insults against her. Astrid had a choice– stand her ground, or move and let the other win. She did not want to be in the other’s presence for much longer but was in no mood to give her the victory she so clearly wanted so instead crossed her arms and legs, one muddy heel landing on the blonde’s boot leaving a footprint. “Oopsie.”

“What I know and what I don’t? I thought I’d been very clear on the fact I don’t know shit and what I do know, my friend Ben has been teaching me.” But she knew she couldn’t keep running to him all the time. He had his own life to live so she’d been trying to research herself. “Do you have like… magical libraries here or something? Somewhere I can look and learn by myself?” That way she wouldn’t have to rely so much on everyone else. She wasn’t used to having to do that in the first place. Still at the mentions of Astrid having a potions lab, it seemed to grab Alexus’ attention. “You have a potions lab?”

“Well okay, you don’t know shit now but you probably did at some point, right? Unless you’ve gone this whole time with no exposure to the magical world which would be insane but something we can work with. I still like my first theory,” Astrid mused, wondering if she’d be able to go through some memory recovery process even if they weren’t sure she had those memories in the first place. “Yeah, we do. The ministry’s full of them. I can show you if you want,” she offered with a shrug. “It might be better if you use the ones at Hogwarts for a start though, like for beginners. I’m pretty sure some of my clients are the professors there so I can get you in contact with one of them and they can tell you where to start so you’re not thrown right into the deep end.” Astrid grinned, “I do, yeah. I’m a potioneer. Think like, engineer or chemist but make it magic,” she explained. “I make potions and antidotes for loads of things. Some of them may help you, actually.”

“Why are you giving me that look? Yes, I ended up being whammied with that truth serum too at Valentines… that by the way might be the freakiest shit yet, but I’m not about to run away just because something strange happens. It seems like it’s a pretty regular occurrence around these parts for something unexplainable to happen. I mean, you’ve got freaking magic so how can anything really be explained.” Alexus pointed out.

“I mean... so do you– probably,” Astrid commented in return. “You just kind of learn to accept that these completely wacko things are normal when you’ve been in the Wizarding world for your whole life, but now we’ve got to figure out what you know and what you don’t,” she said. It sure would be an interesting puzzle to solve, now that Astrid was sure she wasn’t going to be leaking secrets to a no-maj. “You think that’s freaky? You should come to my potions lab. I’ll give you some much cooler things to experience.”

Sam let out a dramatic sigh, “Oh thank God, glad we got that one out of the way,” he joked with a laugh. “Don’t say that, you’ll give the witches a challenge then. Then I have to be a good friend and go beat someone up for you, and that’s just so much work.”

“You really thought I would have a crush on you? You see the type of people I go for, right?” Astrid teased. “I kind of want a challenge, though. Give them some work to do that isn’t torturing people for a change. Plus I feel like it would be pretty fun watching you beat someone up. It’s been a while.”

“I am standing an acceptable distance away from you given the situation we’re in right now.” Tori told the other with a roll of her eyes, “You’ve not had enough alcohol to deal with me?” She asked, letting out a snort. “Yeah, cause I’m the one who is high maintenance. You’re the one who’s acting like a drama queen and here I was thinking that last time we met it might have just been you on an off night, clearly this is just your personality.”

“There is plenty of space around here,” Astrid said, extending her arms sideways to show the other she was being dramatic. “No, I have not. You’re really insufferable, you know that?” the raven haired girl commented, though none of her points felt like they were hitting as hard as she wanted due to the blonde standing several inches taller than her. “Yes, I am a drama queen. I am also many other things, such as a person who likes their personal space and you are a person who doesn’t respect that, clearly.”

“Right?” Erin nodded. “I don’t know if it’s like, a magic thing, or if it’s just got a tonne of sugar in it, but either way I want another three more, at least.” She looked over at the bar. “Do you think they’ll tell me? Something this good, they might keep that recipe under lock and key.”

“I’d imagine a bit of both?” Astrid replied. “Like, there may even be a drop of a potion in here or something like draught of peace,” she suggested. “Hey, it’s worth a shot. And if they say no, I will be your lookout as you try and break into their secret recipe holding safe.”

“You better not be about to complain about me stepping on your foot again, because I’ve been no where near you up until now so if you did, you’d be bullshitting.” Tori told the other, not wanting to deal with the others shrill voice yelling at her again for something that was a complete accident.

Astrid looked down at their feet and then up again, craning her neck to meet the others face despite wearing heels. “Your boots are too close to my toes but I have honestly not had enough alcohol to deal with you right now,” she told the blonde, huffing in her face. “I was having such a great time until you interrupted me.”

“Not to be dramatic, but this might actually be the best mocktail I’ve ever tasted.” Erin stated, looking as the glass in her hands. “Do you think it would be too desperate of me to ask them for the recipe?”

“The best mocktail? No way. I don’t believe that,” Astrid said, taking the glass out of the other’s hands and sipping from the glass, a look of pleasant surprise on her face as her tastebuds lit up. “Girl– you know what? You’re so right. Go get that recipe, like, right now.”

I can promise you that,” she said, gripping his chin lightly and pressing a kiss to his cheek as she accepted the drink. “Honestly nothing’s gonna come out with that Veritaserum mess with me, I’ve not met anyone confident enough who can handle me yet that isn’t an absolute asshole.”

before i left the US i was looking for a friend with benefits and going on lots of dates to see if i had chemistry with any of them. this one girl, kate, was smokin’. her profile on tinder was like, what i was looking for. no strings attached, well experienced, had a good job so wouldn’t be expecting me to pay for her shit. so i was excited, as one would be, right? a good candidate 

we got to the date and my brother was sitting across the bar to make sure i wasn’t gonna get kidnapped or anything. and she walks in. looking a little different to her profile but it was kate sure enough. she sat down and... could not talk. she just kept staring at me. told me she was sure i was catfishing her as i looked like a model and there’s no way someone like me wanted to go on a date with someone like her – immediate red flag. she also had braces on and the thought of metal down there is like... yikes. no. anyways. she couldn’t get over me being a real person and basically just stared at me for the whole of the date and then when it was time to go she grabbed my arm and said ‘my place or yours?’. my brother then pretended to be my fake boyfriend and got me the fuck out of there. i’m still weirded out by the whole interaction and deleted her off everything the second i got home
