"Hello professor strange long time no see and how's the asylum treating you"
Hugo hadent seen Edward approach him as he was waiting for his coffee, it wasnât good but it was better than the staff break-room
âHello Edward. The Asylum has been as it always is, long hours, hostel patiants, angry employees, so overall a wonderful place to workâ he was almost being sarcastic, but he had some sincerity to his tone
âAnd what about you? Have you found some actual legal work to do? Or are you just doing data entry for one of the Falconies again?â
âIâm working as a writer Iâm penning a mystery novel and Iâm also using my skills i learned in Arkhamâs art therapy and Iâm also drawling and selling my artâ
Hugo was dumbstruck, though he didnât show it. Almost all who left his care didnât fare well, mostly due to their own actions and a refusal to change. But Edward seemed to be doing surprisingly well, that or he was lying to seem good in front of his old therapist
âIm very happy to hear a rare success story from someone who use to be so troublesome in my care. Tell me about your novelâ
âWell itâs more of a autobiography mixed with mystery aspects And itâs almost done in fact I sent the documents to my publisher out in New YorkâŚ..and I mentioned you and other Arkham doctors in itâ
âIm sure you were kind when you mentioned me, but with my⌠determination with your treatment im sure you would make me the murdererâ
he was trying to be cheeky, it was not a natural feeling for him but he wanted to explore this new Nygma.
âWhat do you think contributed most to your rehabilitation?â
He gestured him to a seat and sat across from him.
âThe fact that you gave me tough love and actually acknowledged me as a person worth treatingâŚ..and well I want to thank you dr.strange for helping meâ
Hugo raised an eyebrow to this. He had almost never been thanked for anything (he didnât do much to helped others to begin with) much less a former patient. This was a surprise to him, strangely emotional.
âI⌠Your welcome, not many people appreciate the help they can get at the asylum.â
All of this seemed a bit odd to Hugo. Running into Nygma like this, not seeing him for the better part of a year, showing up where he bought his office every day. He was sure he wouldnât live nearby as this was not a residential area, and so close to the Asylum.Â
âThis isnât a coincidence is it? You tried to find me here.â
âYesâŚ.I wanted to thank you In person for helping meâŚ.â
*he smiled at his doctor*
Hugo gave a light smile back, still feeling that their was more to this than he was letting on. Edward had never just layed his cards on the table, that's on of the things that never changed ( and the main reason he was put in charge of suprise parties at the asylum).
âI am glad i could help you Edward. You and Jonathan are one of the few people to improve from my treatment. Better than i could have hopedâ
