"Oh, people keep saying that to me. Maybe if it were a better party," Tracey said, but there was a smile playing on her lips and it was clear she didn’t mean it. "It’s only started anyway, I’ll be back out there in a moment. I wanted to come out here and think for a bit, before all the adults lecture me about acting too un-ladylike and stop any drinking whatsoever."
Rather, the night had made her realise early on about Mr. Vaisey’s death. It made her rethink about how he had burned himself in that fire, and that only led thinking about other people who were probably mourning their loved one’s deaths, and that resulted in a mass thinking of the war. The pond was a nice place to cool off, the lights around still illuminating the water. She did’t mention this to Astoria — their views on the war never particularly agreed and Tracey found it much more enjoyable when the two avoided the topic altogether.
"Why, are you missing me already, Astoria?" Tracey teased the younger girl, a full-on grin stretching across her face. "Relax. I’ve been of age for nine months already, and I’m still going to use that to my advantage. Firewhiskey makes everything better.” She paused for a moment, considering something in her mind, before pulling a face. “Would I be a completely terrible influence if I offered you any? You could always blame me if you’re caught by one of the adults.”
"And people keep saying that to me," she bantered, " -- about it needing to be a better party." Astoria didn't mind everyone seeming to not enjoy the spectacle that was 'The Night of The Lights'. She nodded as Tracey explained herself, smiling and agreeing with her. "That's wise of you, and you'd probably get something of a headache with how shrill their voices can be when they're scolding others." Even if Tracey's behavior was "unladylike", Astoria loved her audacity. Loved who she was, and who she d a r e d to be.

herself like so many did with the
lights off in the distance. She
wouldn't allow herself to think
about what the world was, it
was her duty not to. Even if
sparked her curiosity, she couldn't
let the spark turn into a proper flame.

A laugh bubbled from Astoria's throat, and for once that night she didn't cover her mouth as if she was apologizing for something so simple as laughing. "Of course, Tracey. I always miss you." There was truth in her statement, even if she couldn't show her truth in public as much as she'd like. "But see, that's exactly why I'm worried, you've seem to take full advantage of being of age." Much like Daphne, Astoria wanted to say, but kept it to herself. She was worried for her sister, and maybe she was also worried for Tracey, even if it wasn't her place to be. Looking over, Astoria almost considered the other girls offer -- Tracey's aura was so i n f e c t i o u s, she was so effervescent, everything she said seemed like a good idea -- before declining. "I'd say to them, you would. To me? I don't think you are but I'll have to decline. I've never been one for drinking, and I don't want you to get caught."
