Gremlin Mom

Soooo, I noticed that I haven't posted anything on this blog for a while! So I figured that I would introduce myself! I'm Brigid, and I'm a full time college student studying American Sign Language and Psychology. I'm hoping to either go into interpreting or education. I'm hard of hearing and I am also gradually losing my vision. Disabilities aside, I like to write so my writing blog is @baldurs-simps. This is a new thing, I just started the blog a few weeks ago, so if you're interested, give it a read!

Many people on my dads side are Jewish and the women they cover their hair with sheitels or wigs after they marry as a reminder that their beauty is sacred and can only be seen by family members and their spouses. I growing up as a Methodist Christian thought it was so cool to do and that I wanted to do it when I got married even though I wasn’t religiously Jewish. Now that I’m older I’ve started to cover my hair first I was very afraid of the judgement that I would get mostly from my parents but from others as well but now hair covering is a big part of my identity as a Jewish woman. Although I’m not married nor will I probably ever be, I see hair coverings as a way to show your faith and it personally makes me feel closer to G-d and better about myself and who I am. I don’t cover with sheitels I cover with tichels which are scarves. Although I still face judgement from my immediate family, my peers, and the people that I work with, I am very proud of my faith and to be covering my hair more.
