Judith... Judith Grimes

Happy New Year my friends!! For some perhaps its not quite there but for most - the new year has been rung in and for myself at least, I've been celebrating with a bit of a refresh for this blog, the muse is strong and I'm hoping to be back into things again on here.

Gosh its been awhile, over 6 years now this blog has been hanging around and I still love this lil ass kicker. I'm not even sure if anyone is still following that is actually active but if you are - feel free to drop me a message, I'd love to chat and maybe even get a few little things going!

Negan felt a little bad when he heard the shift in Judith’s voice — didn’t mean to disappoint her — but luckily she was quick to perk up again. “I won’t say never but I’ll be honest with ya kid: it ain’t likely.” The King used to have that damn tiger, so he supposed anything was possible. Other animals were bound to have escaped during the outbreak, but how well they’re faring this far into the game, if they were at all… he couldn’t say for sure. “But yeah, shit — sorry, crap — loads of animals in ‘em. Small ones, real big ones. You know about giraffes? Those guys were freakin’ massive, elephants got nothin’ on them. Zoos gave ‘em plenty of room to run around. Each kind got their own spot, made just for them, customized to remind ‘em of home.” Well, something like that.

At her final question (for now, he was sure many more would follow), Negan laughed to himself. “You askin’ what an elephant sounds like?” He had to stop and think— how would you describe the sounds an elephant fucking made? It’s been so damn long. He grinned and looked out his window. “Well… they made noise by blowing outta those big ol’ trunks of theirs. Could you imagine having a schnoz that long? Anyway, they kinda sounded like someone was playin’ the trumpet, but real badly. You ever heard a trumpet?” 

Judith was not the kind of child to dwell all that much on things she couldn’t solve or fix somehow, sure she was a little disappointed at the idea of not actually getting to see an Elephant or many other kinds of animals. But she was more curious about so many other things, and Negan - he always answered her questions. No matter how many she had - he always answered, even if it was on the rare chance he answered her question with an ‘I don’t know’  or something like ‘Go ask someone else’ - they were rare but usually meant the end of questioning.

This though he seemed to know a lot more about and she eagerly asked her questions, soaking up the information he gave and making her more excited to talk of these animals she likely would never see with her own eyes - there was a chance though, he hadn’t said she wouldn’t so... a tiny chance maybe. That was okay with her. “Giraffes - they are the ones with really long necks right? I saw them in a book, they had spots too, how long did it take food to reach their bellies? A long -long neck would mean it takes longer... right?”  She scrunches her nose at the thought before shaking her head and smiling again.

“ So they got their own special places - like a house-made just for them!” Maybe zoos were good places after all, even if they were kept in a place - it was made especially for them. Hearing him laugh, made her smile and give a small giggle of her own even if she didn’t fully get why he laughed - it was a good question after all. “My Books tell me some stuff but not what animals sound like - like what Elephants sound like when they talk to other Elephants - or .. a giraffe too - and lots of other animals.”  It was true - she could learn so much reading, so her Mom always said, but - some things couldn't be read, “ So like a sneeze?” His answer confused her further as he spoke about the trunks.
