The End of Phase 2, and Project Petal
Good morning Asriel House enjoyers. I hope you've been having fun with the blog as well as our little ongoing *test run* in Entry 36. This is an announcement that Phase 2, and Asriel House as a whole, will conclude with entry 45 and transition into something new. I've had a lot of fun making this, but I feel like we're reaching the limits of the fun that Tomodachi Life can give us for this cast of all one character.
That doesn't mean it's the end, though! Me and the crew are very excited for the project that will springboard off of Asriel House, and I wanted to give you a little clarification as to what we'll be doing. I've always wanted to use one of those funny little project codenames, so let's call it Project Petal.
It's a new multimedia AU in three distinct parts. There will be playable segments ala Asriel House First Transmission, comic pages, and interactive sprite comic segments similar to what we're testing in Entry 36. Despite how chaotic you've been so far, I'm very happy with the results of that so far. You'll be able to alter the course of the story and even find secret fights as you progress throughout its volumes.
*What kind of dumbass AU starts with 45 massive blog posts of Tomodachi Life?*
Truth be told, I've had the idea of an Asriel centric AU for a while now, and having this cast of goats in my head from this project was one of those serendipitous perfect matches. I've said before I didn't exactly go into this thing with a plan, but as of the Phase 1 Finale, I knew exactly where the whole thing was headed. I've had fun making the lorebits and playable fight, and I've been in the fandom 11 years at this point - long enough to know what makes an AU fun for me - so I got more and more interested in that aspect of it until it simply outgrew the current format.
*Is it directly connected?*
Yes! Project Petal will directly follow up Entry 45, but in a way that makes it easy for newcomers to jump in as well. You won't need to have read Asriel House to enjoy Project Petal, but it will answer some lingering questions and point towards some future events. It's a bit of a silly prequel, but I'm a bit of a silly writer.
*This sounds like Underverse with Asriels instead of Sans*
That's not a question, imaginary FAQ partner! That's not really what we're going for, though. Don't go into Project Petal expecting cool fight sequences, it's a lot more about the adventure, and a heck of a lot lower stakes. I can't share too many details right now, but if you liked the tone of Asriel House you'll probably have a great time.
*Does that mean no more Tomodachi Life after Entry 45?*
Welllllll... Maybe? Maybe not? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
There's always a lot more directions that something can go than you really think.
*And lastly, a question for you, the viewers!*
The Project Petal Team (yes this blog is run by more than just me) can do a lot of things and composition isn't one of them. I certainly tried, and I know for sure I do not have a single bone in my body for this stuff. If you know any good UTDR fan composers who take commissions, drop some of their work in the replies here and I'll take a look.
