#why i’m bitter about ca:cw exhibition nr 320932: there was no narrative justice for sam’s loyalty #what he did for Steve was huge: it shook up the stability he’d found and turned his life upside down #sam followed steve’s hail mary of a mission for two straight years based on nothing faith in steve and the hope that they’ll come out of th #out of this healed and for the better #and how does the narrative reward him? #by taking his wings away; by making him a fugitive; by stripping him of his newly gained title as an avenger #the movie left so many things dangling and gave no real conclusion to anything substantial but I’m still bitter about this #Sam’s personal life is left hanging. Whatever stability he had is probably gone and there was honestly so little time #devoted to how he’d feel about going in way over his head via stardust-rain
#Cap3 offered so much possibility for so many characters and then opted to not take advantage of ANY OF IT #there were so many stories that could be told #I just think of Sam sitting in underwater jail #his reward for doing what he truly believed was the right thing #I hope someone is writing a ten million word fic about Sam getting justice (via allofthefeelings)

the idea of sam getting new wings and a newer group/order emerging, instead of scattered outlaws on the run or frozen, in Bucky’s case (for literally no reason which is a whole other issue), would have been way more interesting and infinitely cooler/sustainable.
it links to another reblog of mine where in endgame, it’s steve who goes to vormir, and he sacrifices the idea/mantle of captain america for the soul stone, and so his last act of love with the shield is letting go of it, to save bucky and the rest of the universe, just like the reason he took on the shield (to join bucky in the army/to save bucky as a POW and fight fascism).
THEN, steve can pass on the shield to sam who’s superhero place in the world has steadily increased, and he can be the new captain america. steve can be nomad, someone that has lost faith in the good ol’ american way, which has always been true, but this time it’s reflected in him shedding the title completely and by choice.
This allows Sam AND steve AND bucky to be more true to their characters. Steve stays as he has more to lose in the present than the past, Sam gets to shape the mantle of Captain America as he wants/needs, and Bucky has stable and consistent friends in his journey to recovery and no doubt many legal battles defending his innocence to American courts. They support each other.
Like you said, this could easily be plausible, especially with support from Wakanda or a group emerging that is more solidified than going on the run individually.
and nat doesn’t die. so there’s that.
