almost 7 years later i still can’t believe this happened, but one time my friend and I who were working in the same immersive theatre company in sf helped put together a roller skating disco party in the ballroom of the hotel our (much bigger) show was happening in. The set was all there and we were trying to find uses for it during the week that we could get some ticket revenue from when the show itself wasn’t running. Anyway she had it in her head that I should come dressed up and in character as Andy Warhol. We weren’t sure if anyone else would come dressed up or in character from that era but I thought sure, that will be fun. I got there and it turned out tons of people had dressed up. I skated over to my friend, who was making small talk with a woman I’d never met before, and critically, I did not introduce myself, but she turned to me and said “I came as Valerie Solanas!” And I said oh.
