soโฆ this poem is a little piece of what i am recently feeling a lot, overwhelmed? bicurious? lost? questioning if i have feelings for my friend? 18 but still unsure of everything (my 14 year old self used to think she would have figured out everything but she was wrong)?
i think what i am recently feeling, is mike wheelery
this was my conclusion after reading it the nth time the next day of my crash out. like this is literally epilogue mike, correct me if i am wrong. ๐โโ๏ธ
i thought i would share, please let me know what you all think about, i would love to hear. (itโs from my pov and i use she/her pronouns but read them as he/him and imagine epilogue mike!)
she felt things and didnโt overwhelm herself.
she used to pickup a pen,
and let it tell her thoughts,
the way her day was so awful that she had wanted to die,
but her little brother saving her his favourite chocolate;
was enough for her to cry.
how to let it out, when to hold, and when to let it go.
she would then write about all she would do,
one day when she could escape this truth:
how she would be turning eighteen,
with sparks in her eyes filled with glee
because finally she got to be free, got to be her, and just got to be.
how she would find love and tell them her books,
and how they would love and kiss her all good.
and then she would heal and be the best she could be
because she knew how fun it would be to be finally eighteen,
with her pink dress on she was sure she would know everything.
but oh how wrong she had been.
because now sheโs finally eighteen,
but thereโs no pink dress and she hates knowing so many things.
thereโs no hope of love for her, they donโt even think of her.
no one to listen to her bookshelf,
flailing and trying but nothing helps,
sheโs been drowning in her self loathing stream ever since she started overthinking everything.
her pens no more work, her brain holds off the truth,
and it gets so awful to lose this time,
because this was the only thing that felt like mine.
but i am not her anymore,
she looks at me from far away, trembling, begging for me to let her in.
i try so hard but she slips away,
and i try so hard but my legs have gone dead;
they bleed now bruised from their walk down the memory lane.
and itโs so scary to want to be her again.
because she knew herself and was incredible and vain,
but she knew it was okay.
but i donโt know anymore,
i donโt remember ever being her,
and now whatโs left of me is a shell of what i used to be.
