Green Eyed Monster

Dutch watches as Arthur speaks to a woman at the general store. It’s clear to him that the woman is flirting, but as usual, Arthur seems completely oblivious and is chatting away very sweetly to the young woman, who is really trying to turn on the charm.

Fortunately for Dutch, he knows women are a thing of Arthur’s past, but it doesn’t stop him from feeling the jealousy rise like a rage from his stomach.

“Mister M” Dutch interrupts, clamping a hand on Arthur’s shoulder. “We had better get going.” He throws a wink and enjoys the way that a flush begins to creep its way up Arthur’s face.

The young woman seems to get the message and swiftly pays for her items before hurriedly scarpering from the shop.

“Dutch, you didn’t have to do that. She was just bein’ kind.” Arthur mumbles, grabbing his supplies and taking them out to the wagon. “You know I only got eyes for you.” He smiles as he whispers.

“And what beautiful eyes they are too, Mister M. Let’s just make sure they don’t stray. Hmm?” Dutch replies, arching an eyebrow. “But for the record, she wasn’t interested in the items you were purchasing, but rather the contents of your britches.”

The ride home is awkwardly silent, Arthur mulling over what Dutch had said. There was no way that woman was flirting…. Was there? Although, he’s never really been able to tell when anybody flirts with him, so it was pointless to worry about it.

Pearson heads over as they arrive back at camp, to help unload the wagon. Dutch heads straight over to his tent, head bowed. Arthur calls Lenny over to help Pearson unpack so he can follow Dutch, who has pulled the flaps of his tent down.

Arthur lifts one side open gingerly, finding Dutch sitting on his bed, head in his hands. He slips in quietly, ensuring the tent closes behind him and takes a seat next to Dutch.

“What’s’a matter, Dutch?” He asks, placing a hand on the older man’s back. Dutch lifts his head, eyes meeting Arthur’s. There are tears there, barely being held back.

“Jealousy, Arthur.” Dutch scoffs and shakes his head. “When I saw you and that woman in the store. It was so clear to me that she wanted you. I mean, why wouldn’t she? You’re perfection in human form.” Arthur blushes, looking away and chuckling.

“I wouldn’t go that far, Dutch. ‘Sides, you know I don’t feel that way for women no more. Not since….”

“Yes, I know.” Dutch sighs. “I know I have no right to be jealous. But you were so sweet to her, and I don’t like the idea that anyone else gets to see that side of you.”

“Come on now, Dutch. There ain’t no sides to me. I ain’t that complicated. I’m nice to all the ladies…. Mostly.” Arthur chuckles. Dutch clearly isn’t as impressed.

It’s becoming clear to Arthur that all Dutch needs is reassurance. He knows the man needs it for most things - plans, mainly – but it would appear that Dutch is insecure in their relationship, and Arthur really doesn’t know what to do.

“Dutch?” He whispers, lifting the older man’s chin. Dutch lifts his head, but doesn’t make eye contact, so Arthur presses a soft kiss against his lips. “I love you, you know that, right?” Dutch bites his bottom lip and nods.

“Of course I do. As I love you.” He replies, looking down again.

“Then you know you got nothing to worry about. I ain’t never given you a reason to doubt my love for ya, have I?” Arthur asks, genuinely concerned that he might have.

“No! Good lord no! It’s all in my head, I know that.”

“Then let’s get you out of there for a little while, shall we?”

I also think it's so sweet how Arthur never really realizes people flirting with him meanwhile Dutch goes absolutely crazy 😪

You’re right… there isn’t much else in that fic that hasn’t already been guessed. Although, there is a strange fascination with Dutch’s rings in it. Which, I am not sure if there is an official kink around that in specific?? I imagine it falls under the hand kink thing, but I used a special tag over on Ao3 just for Dutch/Arthur ❤️🖤

Also, I am not sure if there is an actual kink for this either, but I think standing up while ~ doing things ~ is hot as hell. Idk about anybody else 😰
