the outside? that is experiencing borderline inhabitable weather most times of the year? that has polluted air and water and zero actual safe spaces for kids to hang out without being chased off for loitering?? plus, not everyone wants to be outside 24/7 and not everyone can be outside 24/7. you can whine about how children in the 80s used to spend all of their time outside but you have to realize there's a massive difference in how the world operates today and we can't just go back to it. and if you want your kid to go outside so bad, make them! take their phone! stop giving shitty parents grace by insisting the state should be regulating these things! stop excusing your own bad behavior. stop making excuses to be complicit

They basically want the duty of care part, but “Some House members have raised concerns that it could incentivize social media platforms to overzealously censor content to avoid litigation.”

The senates version does have the duty of care

The KIDS act is under consideration for next weeks house vote. Which will be happening Monday at the earliest

It seems that the KIDS act will be “Legislation considered under suspension of the Rules”

This basically means

“Under suspension, floor debate is limited, all floor amendments are prohibited, points of order against the bill are waived, and final passage requires a two-thirds majority vote.”

The reason why it’s happening as soon as Monday is because it’s under suspension and “Under the rules of the 119th Congress, motions for suspension of the rules are allowed only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays”

Under suspension is usually done to quickly pass bills “ which enjoy broad, bipartisan support.”

there's a lot of bad things going on in the world, but i urge people not to be distracted right now. it's what they want. there's been a lot of breaking news this weekend but it's important we make this part of what's on everyone's radar.
