Lemme See Some ID

I'm still here, just kind of lurking around. Pretty booked between work, school, projects, long overdue commission, Vidic telling me to get back in the animus. Can't really catch a break. I'll be back on top of this blog when spring break starts next week. Definitely not gone for good. No way. Never. 

Yes, it's happening. I'm losing my faith in AC here. I feel like the whole thing should have been wrapped up in Revelations. It's got nothing to do with "omg Ezio was the best character ever and everyone else sucks omg Florence 4life!" No. (I love 2, but Ezio isn't even on my top fave list). I'm kinda glad we got to meet Connor I guess. I dunno, I still haven't beaten the game, and this is where I make my point.

3 really disappointed me, even more so than Rev did. I mean, I at least was able to accept Rev for what it was, a necessary end to a chunk of the story. Hell, I even cried (for days) at the end when Altair sat in the chair. 3 however just seemed like an unnecessary push. I've never lost the will to play a series like this, but after this and now the coming release of 4, I feel like at this point they're just spitting out these sequels and going like "HA! We know you'll buy this cause it's Assassins Creed! >:{D" Evil mustache and all.

Now I'm not a game developer, but I find it hard to believe that you can just crank out masterpieces within a tiny little time frame like that. And are you serious? The first DLC for 3 only just now dropped! How are they going to shoot out another title?You know, sometimes you just need to know when to quit while you're ahead. The story's got some depth, but come on, it's not that damn intricate. Let's count, on the platforms alone we've already got  5 games.(That of course isn't including  the hand-helds and comics, which kind of just serve as a supplement, but we don't have to count those to make the point.) With 4 on the horizon, that makes it 6. Not every series can have 6 games. Not every series can have 6 games so quickly. Not to come off as a critical hardass here, but these games are starting to feel rushed. And here I go with the other bad word but... they're also getting kind of...mainstream. Oh man, I said it. Hold on, gotta put on my hipster glasses. Something about the first few ACs (the first two especially) seemed kind of off beat and interesting. Now the more recent stuff is just  kind of blah, for lack of a better word. I feel like the initial magic, that odd, eerie charm that reached out and pulled us in is gone. I really wish they'd sit down and take a good hard look at the series, see what it started from and what it's grown into, and then take it out back behind the shed with a rifle.
