*Taffy gives the pair a friendly smile and wave before silently sliding two muffins over to them.*
Taffy: I made them specially for you two! One is an Aspear Berry Muffin to help heal your frostbite! The other has Chesto Berry in it, I know your friend likes dry flavors!
"Heck yeah, more food!" Kentarous looked delighted at the offering and immediately began munching into them.
Silvan, for once, greeted Taffy with what had been, up to this point, a rare smile. They took the muffin, and also the bracelet offered too.
They were quite awed by the second gift. The message within it, 'be yourself, everyone else is already taken' got a small chuckle out of them that was somewhat wet.
"Thank you, so very, very much."
And in the world, you all feel a sense of Gratitude flow through you, as well.

It was as though colour had come back into the world. Silvan burst out of the Spring Path like a bullet. The path felt warmer, the tiny sakura flower looked like the most beautiful flower in the world. Sound had been turned back on - the chatter of bird Pokemon and the others within the grass and forest beyond was audible again. They were happier than they could have ever hoped to feel.
Finally, finally, they had a path set in stone. A trial to undertake.Ā
And they would do it with gusto.Ā
Silvan was too excited to slow down, too excited to not run straight to Mt Coronet, but Kentarous had a better idea, āwait, wait, wait!ā
āWhat?!ā Silvan was running on the spot, close to Veilstone City already, ācome on, we need to get to the mountain!ā
āIām excited too, but itās still cold! We need to get readyāā Kentarous nodded to the horizon. The sun was beginning to climb down the tree line.
āAnd wouldnāt it be so cool if you could, you know⦠fly there?ā
Silvan blinked, looked at Kentarous, who looked smug.
āWell, I must admit,ā Silvan puffed up their chest, a glimmer of that old arrogance coming out as they smirked, āit would be rather fitting for a ruler to ride a noble steed to their destiny~ā
Kentarous laughed, and Silvan joined him with a snicker of their own. It felt good to laugh. It gave them some time to calm down from the high of finally obtaining their destined Gem.
āI should probably not upset the cafe owners and actually rest and eat properly before nightfall,ā Silvan realised the last few days, they had practically become nocturnal.
āIām going to need my energy, too. Flying to the top of a mountain is no joke!ā
Silvan smiled wryly at that. He had a point.
The pair took some time to seclude themselves away from prying eyes, and together they curled up in the plants and slept for a few hours. When they woke up, it was close to nightfall. They both tucked into every single delicious thing the pair of them had stored - a big meal for a big event. Together, for the first time since they had met, did both of them feel free to simply, and finally, enjoy one anotherās company.
Silvan didnāt remember the last time they had ever really felt this light. Since the start of their journey, so much had been weighing on them that they hadnāt ever truly relaxed. They finally felt like they could just laugh along with Kentarous, who was his usual chatty, cheerful self. But it finally felt like he, too, could relax more in Silvanās company.
Silvan ran to the gem and picked it up in their paws, Kentarous hot on their heels.Ā
The Gem was unlike any of the others. It was transparent, almost, yet it reflected every colour that either of them couldāve imagined. It sparkled and glittered like moissanite, and within it was power. Silvan could feel it.
āWhat⦠is thisā¦?ā their voice was a fervent whisper. Kentarous was immensely curious as well at the Gem.Ā
āI⦠No⦠it couldnāt beā¦āĀ
Silvanās head snapped at the shaymin, āhuh?ā
āIt-it canāt be what Iām thinking!ā Kentarous was staring at the gem in realisation, āit doesnāt exist!ā
āWhat canāt exist?!ā Silvan was almost on the verge of losing their temper. He knew about this?!
āYou remember that puzzle? The one in the mine?ā
Silvan recalled it, and nodded their head quickly.
āAnd you remember how you said thereās no such thing as the Light element, right?ā
āYeahā¦?ā Silvan said slowly. āThere isnāt?ā
āThere is, itās just not called that,ā Kentarous was staring at the gem now, shock all over his face. āThatā¦āĀ
āWhat the fuck am I holding, Kentarous!?ā
āStellar.ā
Silence stretched between them, Silvan staring at the shaymin, and Kentarous looking back at them, his eyes budding with tears. That confused the eevee even more.
āWhy are youāā
āNo wonder you couldnāt evolve like the restā¦ā Ken was smiling, and tears ran down his face, much to Silvanās shock, āyou were destined for something so much greater.ā
Silvanās confusion had to be comical as they stared at the crying mythical like he had grown a second head.
āOkay, well, um,ā they blinked and took the crown out of their bag. Silvan had decided they could not handle Ken crying.Ā
āSave the tears for when this thing actually does anything, wonāt you?āĀ
Kentarous laughed and nodded, wiping his eyes as Silvan inserted the beautiful gem into the crown, and placed it on their head.
And finally, the feeling they had been waiting for their entire life washed over them, and the crown and the gem began to glow, and Silvan felt energy rush through them like a warm tide. The feeling they had waited for their whole life felt like the biggest sugar rush they had ever felt. Silvanās eyes snapped open as the cavern shone with all colours from their crown, and words rushed into their mind.
āGo to Spear Pillar. Play the flute. The rest is up to you.ā
āSpear Pillarā¦ā they said softly as the glow receded, but the crown was lighter, and seemed to carry an inner light now. Just as Kentarousās stars glowed a soft gold in dark places, the crown shined a soft silver, almost as a compliment.
Finally, they felt they had purpose. Finally, they had a path clear ahead like the brightest of daylight.
Silvan smiled just as brightly and turned to Kentarous, who was beaming, āwe need to go to Spear Pillar!ā
He could only laugh and nod. The pair rushed out of the room, the exit being any door.
The boat ride to Veilstone City was silent. Silvan said nothing, and Kentarous could only sit with them with worry all over his body. He tried a couple of times to try and say something, but his words died on his tongue.
What could one possibly say to someone who was about to die?
Kentarous, at first, didnāt know how to feel about the Eevee when they first met. They were quiet, moody, and rather full of themselves for what they were. Kentarous wasnāt even sure if he liked Silvan let alone wanting to travel with them beyond Snowpoint City.
But, as they took the boat to Newmoon Island, Kentarous slowly began to realise the monumental effort they had put into their journey, and the effort they had put into themselves. To grow, to be better, to change.
Sure, some of the rides they had taken to collect every single type gem had been easier than others, but the more he got to know Silvan, the more he began to see that this was a mortal being that had tried. Tried to be good. Tried to be grateful. To overcome their sheltered upbringing and truly reach out, above and beyond, to better themselves.
It didnāt bypass his attention that Silvan had nearly died not once, not twice, but four times now.Ā
And now, they were facing death in the face directly, and forcing themselves to walk straight into its arms.
Kentarous couldnāt help but admire that sheer moxy and bravery. Even if he could see how anxious Silvan was, how scared, and how terrified they truly were, the fact was that they were on a boat to Veilstone City, right towards the very location of the very last gem, was all the proof he needed of their strength.
When the boat arrived, Silvan waited, as always, for everyone to get off first before they did, with Kentarous following behind. Once they were out of the city, they entered Route 214 and changed back into their true form from their human one.
Silvan barely had a moment to look around and notice that the cold air of winter was slowly starting to ease as the first signs of spring were showing themselves. A sakura tree on the route had its very first blossom, and Kentarous took a moment to appreciate its fragile, fleeting beauty as they continued to walk towards the Spring Path. He began to point it out to Silvan, who, to his surprise, turned to look at the tiny bloom.
Silvan looked at the little flower on the tree. For a moment, they simply looked at it, enjoying its fleeting beauty, and then they turned back to the path in silence. But Kentarous heard a very soft āthank youā from them as they finally got to the hidden entrance.
Silvan stared at the cove, part of them wanting to run back home to Unova. To get as far away from this place as possible. But, the other part of them kept their feet rooted to the spot. They couldnāt run from this, they couldnāt hide from it.Ā
All they could do⦠was move forward.
Silvan took their first step into the grotto, and through it, onto the Spring Path.
It was as though someone had put earmuffs on their ears. Other than the rustle of the wind through the trees, silence enveloped the small path like something out of another world. Was this the beginning of the distortion of time and space? Silvan could only guess as they slowly walked along the path, Kentarous by their side.
The path was short, and eventually, Silvan began to see a rise in the short distance, obscured by fog. With a gulp, they stepped through yet another grotto pathway.
Before them was a cliff, covered in harsh rocks to climb up. Kentarous couldnāt fly, as it was daytime, so Silvan simply continued through the undergrowth of the path. There were, strangely, no Pokemon here either. Maybe they had all since vacated? Kentarous was surprised by that too, and remarked on it.
āNo oneās hereā¦ā
Silvan didnāt respond. They simply looked at the rocky ledge and began to climb. Kentarous followed them.
Silvan stepped out onto the ledge of the lake below. The area was adorned by newly budded flowers, some of which had only just bloomed. Spring was on the way. There was a ramp on their side of the lake, and a sheer rock climb on the other side.Ā
They could either swim across to the entrance down below, or they could climb it.
Silvan turned to Kentarous, their voice emotionless, āswim or climb?ā
Ken startled a little, and worry crept over his face at the tone. Silvan didnāt move, waiting for his reply.
āL-lets climb down. Best not to soak ourselves to the bone, heheā¦ā
Their laugh echoed in a lonely away in the mist. Silvan merely turned towards the path around the lake and walked. Kentarous sadly followed.
The climb down was uneventful, and Silvan landed by the entrance. Here, they could feel something was off - something beyond their understanding was taking place. It was a feeling that they couldnāt shake.
Every nerve in their body was telling them to turn around. To go back home. Maybe this was why it was called Turnback Cave. A warning to all who came upon it.
Turn back now.
Go home.
āBeing here will only bring death to you.ā
Silvan blinked. A whisper through their ears. They closed their mouth and looked down.
As if they didnāt already know that.Ā
One foot after the other, they stepped inside the cave.
There were three doorways, and a podium in the middle of the room. Ancient text was inscribed on it. Silvan walked down towards it, and then up to look at the text. They couldnāt read it.
They looked at Kentarous silently, a please in their eyes. They couldnāt speak. Ken merely nodded and translated the words.
āHeed this; past three pillars, you must offer up your desire to the God of the Underworld before 30 is surpassed.ā
āBefore 30 is surpassedā¦ā Kentarous repeated, and looked at Silvan. They didnāt respond. Ken looked back at the pillar, and thought to himself. He wasnāt as clever as Silvan was, so he could only guess as to what it meant.
āWhich doorway should we take?ā They all looked the same to him.
Silvan peered at each one, and silently, they simply walked to the right. Kentarous followed them.
The next room only gave them an entrance to the left. Silvan took it.
The next room following only gave them an entrance to the right. Silvan took it.
The third room had a pillar, and another message. Kentarous ran over to read it.
āFour have passed. Express your desire.ā He read out loud. He turned to Silvan, then.
Silvan looked blankly at the writing, and with a deep sigh, they spoke quietly into the room.
āPlease give me the Ghost Gem.ā
A sharp sound pinged across the room. Suddenly, Silvan knew where to go, as if pulled by an invisible thread, and that was straight ahead.Ā
āThis way,ā they said softly, but it was easily heard in the silence of the room. Kentarous followed through the next doorway.
The fifth room had an elaborate path of rocks blocking the way, but not really. Silvan took a left.
The next room had much of the same thing. Silvan went straight ahead.
The second Pillar appeared in the seventh room. An object was glittering at the base of it, along with text.
Silvanās legs moved on their own as they numbly approached the text, along with the Gem. It was a deep, dark cold purple, but it glittered like the rest in the low light. Kentarous glanced at it, and then at the text.
For the first time, he looked confused.
āItās scrambledā¦ā
Silvan didnāt respond. They picked up the gem in their paws, their whole body shaking. This was the last element. The last chance to evolve. It was the very last timeā¦Ā
They took out their crown, and placed the Ghost Gem within it. Slowly, they placed it on their head, their whole body shaking worse than ever.
Silvan closed their eyes, waiting for the gem to resonate. Waiting for something, anything to happen.
But⦠just as it had been with every single other Gemā¦Ā
Nothing happened.
Kentarous waited, holding his front paws together over his chest, worry all over his face, expecting the worst, but nothing happened. He watched with some small surprise as Silvan opened their eyes, confusion written all over their face.
āIt didnātā¦ā
āWhatā butā¦ā Kentarous took the crown from Silvan and looked at it. It was heavy, and full of power, that much he could sense, and the Gem was real, āthere must be some mistake! Surelyāā
āThere isnāt.ā
Kentarous looked upset. Silvanās voice was so defeated. They were sitting there, head bowed, tears trickling out of their eyes and down their face onto the ground.Ā
āThat⦠That was the last element,ā they said, the sound of sniffling filling the empty room. āThe very lastā¦ā
Kentarous held the crown close, knowing what was coming next, and Silvanās voice filled the room like a bomb as they snarled at the roof, āWHY CAN'T I JUST EVOLVE?!ā
The screech echoed around the room. Kentarous had winced at the volume, but he said nothing as Silvan cried in frustration and anguish. Every single Gem, they had every single one.
And nothing resonated whatsoever.
Were they truly doomed to remain as they were?
āPleaseā¦āĀ
Ken blinked as Silvan looked at the pillar, their face wet with tears, their eyes pleading.Ā
āWhat do I need to do⦠what am I missing⦠pleaseā¦ā they begged, āpleaseā¦ā
āSilvanā¦ā Kentarous said sadly, but as he did, the pillar began to emit a soft blue light. The scrambled writing on it began to organise itself, almost by magic. Silvan watched this, not understanding what was happening, but eventually the glowing stopped, leaving only one word;
āForward.ā Kentarous read, his voice full of wonder.Ā
He looked at Silvan, who looked at him with tears still streaked through their fur, confused, and then back at the pillar. Ahead of them was a doorway, and upon looking around the room, they both realised it was the only doorway. The others had vanished.
Kentarous put the crown and the Gem into Silvanās bag, and he tugged on their leg, ācome on.ā
āBut⦠Iā¦ā
āCome on,ā he urged, pulling on Silvanās leg again. āI donāt know what this is, but I think youāre going to get your answer.ā
Silvan looked at Kentarous, then at the pillar, and then at the doorway. Slowly, they steeled themselves, and with conviction, Silvan began to move towards the only doorway left after Kentaros.
The next room was empty, full of scattered rocks, with only one more entrance way. They both took it. Beyond that was one final room with writing on a podium, much like the entrance. Silvan and Kentarous approached it - it was a much bigger platform than the entrance had been. Kentarous got the feeling that this was likely where Giratina would show up if he was called.
But for them⦠it was different. In this strange place connected to the Underworld, the shaymin ran over to the pillar to read the writing. And when he did, he let out a loud gasp, paws going to his mouth as he did.
Silvan came over slower, and looked at the unreadable language, and then back at Kentarous. āWhat⦠does it sayā¦?ā
āPlay the flute.ā
Silvan blinked, and looked at the text, then back at Kentarous, who looked like he had realised something enormous.Ā
āWhat does thatāā
āWhen I was a kid,ā Kentarous interrupted, and Silvan stopped talking at the tone. They had never heard Kentarous speak so seriously, āI went to a place near my home. Itās very, very far north, but itās connected to both Johto and Sinnoh. Itās a rune called the āSinjoh Ruinsā.ā
āAnd in it⦠I found something.ā
Ken reached into his bag, and he pulled out a very strange purple and red object. He held it delicately, like it was an incredibly precious item.
āThis.ā
Silvan looked at the flute. It was a very, very weird looking instrument, more like an ocarina than a flute. But, how could this place have known Kentarous had such an item?
āSo⦠you thinkā¦ā Silvan looked at the pillar again, āyou need to play that thing?ā
āYes.ā
āAnd thenā¦?ā
āI donāt know,ā Kentarous shook his head. āI played it at the ruins, and nothing happened. But hereā¦ā
Hesidantly, he took a stance. He planted his feet firmly, and raised the flute to his lips. He blew through it, and a noise that Silvan could only describe as the sound they imagined glitter might make if it had one echoed briefly around the room.
Then, Kentarous blew six notes, two longer ones, two shorter ones, one short one, and then one long one that made the fur on the back of Silvanās neck and all along their back stand on end. The sound from that flute was unlike anything they had ever heard in their life, like something ethereal and otherworldly.Ā
Kentarous looked hopefully at the text, but a light shone from the podium itself. A strange magical circle had appeared within at the sound of the flute, and as quickly as it had come, the light suddenly went out.
But in the very centre of the podium was a Gem, the same size and the same shape as the Elemental Gems they had been hunting for so long.
The pair slowly stepped onto the podium, and at long last⦠Silvan felt it.
The strongest ever pull towards anything they had ever felt in their entire life.

Sivian you had plans, you were thinking that this couldn't happen but it's happening now..... Is there anything you wish to do before you take the next step. You don't have to do it immediately but you should at least get some things in order.....
But I asked one question: is that all could there be? Is there something that your family may not know about? In any case you should try to enjoy the rest of your journey you can at least have the memories with your friend here right?
What they wanted to do... Silvan wasn't one for big plans. All they had ever desired was to evolve, it was their one true dream.
Dreams...
Silvan thought about something. They hadn't thought about it in a while, yet...
The dream.
The dream they had had since the time they were born. The dream that came to them often, always the same one. Them, high above the atmosphere, gazing down at the Earth.
Was that... a goal?
But how could it be? How could it be that they'd end up in space? They were not a space Pokemon, and they couldn't survive high up in the mountains, let alone outer space.
The thoughts distracted them, however, as the boat got near the last location.
Tsubayuki@Silvan: She scowled seeing Silvan as they are. With all this poor eevee has been through, she calmed herself before speaking. Putting on her neutral expression before speaking.
"To have a natural part of a pokemon's life be locked behind ending it. That is a cruel thing for fate to decide." She states thinking outloud as her stoic expression softens. "And I speak as one that has come back from the dead myself. I do hope you are serious about treating this evolution as you did umbreon as you said."
"The experience will not be worth it. However you would think to attempt it."
Silvan jerked up suddenly.
"Y-you came back from the dead?" They said with shock.
"You both did...?" Silvan looked between them. Here were two lives who had ended, and then returned to the living world. If they were destined to become an Oblivion... maybe...
... would it really be so bad?
It gave Silvan a touch of hope in the face of what they were about to do. And they managed a small smile.
"Thank you."
Kentarous watched on, relieved to see a glimmer of Silvan's usual self shine through.
Alyse took in the air around Silvan and Kentarous. The trainer shifted and pulled out two revival herbs from their pocket, placing them on the table for the duo in offering.
"Obliveon⦠doesn't seem easy."
The human paused, a grim expression locked on their face.
"You've been collecting so many gems. Traveling a lot without much break. If you need one before go for the ghost gem, you should take it."
They pause again, their expression growing harder.
"You have to be okay with dying to evolve. With your soul being tampered with. You can't take that back. And that's if evolution goes as intended. Do you really need to do this?ā¦"
It was obvious that Silvan wasn't comfortable with the idea of their soul being ripped from them, thrown around and thrown back into their body like the account described. The idea was horrific to them.
Yet... they had to know. They had to know if it was their destiny to become it.
"Ee uee vavee vee." (I won't become it), Silvan said firmly, "Va vee vii eue vee vee. Eui ee ee vee eeveeve, ee eevee ve ve. " (just like with the dark gem. Even if it was my destiny, I would say no.)
"Vee ee eev ve vee." (But I have to know,) they said quietly.

*He sits across from you, covering his face with his hat*
I canāt possibly know the specifics on why you fear this fate, but I can at least understand the desire to not dieā¦
Youāre not foolish for having that fear⦠Even as a ghost, I too fear itā¦
but the end of one story can be anotherās beginning⦠I canāt say how things will turn out for you, but even despite the oddsā¦
*He places an apple in front of you*
I still have hope youāll find a better tomorrowā¦
Morgan still caused them a bit of wariness, but even in this state, Silvan couldn't do much other than cringe a bit at the sight of him. They settled down as he spoke.
They accepted his words, and they were grateful for them. Even after all they had done, he was still trying his best to comfort them. Silvan... was grateful for it.
They peeked up to look him in the eyes, as much as they could see under the hat, and offered a nod.
š¶ Despair, you come to me,
with your poison and your misery,
O, death! you come to sting,
With your poison and your misery
Death death death death death,
Death surrounds me, singing to me softly,
(Death) Let the shadow spreads his wings around me,
(Death, Death) In the night, close your eyes, (Cause) I can hear you calling
(Death surrounds me, singing to me softly,)
This is how it feels when your bend and broken,
This is how it feels when your dignity is stolen,
(Death, Death) In the night, close your eyes, (Cause) I can hear you calling
I can feel the shadow creeping in my mind,
Don't close your eyes! šµ
