He unwrapped the scarf around his neck so he could speak more clearly. "I figured I would stop by and say hello before I headed back to the dorms and shove myself into schoolwork for the next month," he sighed. Just thinking about all the classes he could've been taking and now had to make up for filled him with dread.

"I was wondering if you could tell me how to get back to the University from here? I'm not quite used to this area yet and I seem to have gotten lost," he asked once more, feeling slightly impatient. He just wanted to go back home, not deal with complete strangers.

Being an international affairs major, and fluent in Italian, Alfred scowled. “Hey, bro,” he said, stepping up to the short Italian so he was forced to look up. “Shit-talk like that and ‘yer gonna get ‘yerself inna boatload o’ trouble.” But he gave him an apprising look and stepped away, giving an offhand gesture with his thumb.

“But, uh, campus’s that way. Down Charles Street with a left on Hopkins.”

Luciano merely stared down the taller man as he spoke. Once he was done, Luci let out a little laugh. "Tough guy, huh? I respect that. Though you'd be dead if we were in Italia right now."

It's not a lie. As much as Luci didn't feel like adding more blood on his hands, one of his family would've killed the kid right there and then. That would've been amusing, but bloody. He liked this outfit. Luci didn't feel like getting it dirty.

"Thanks for the directions." Now where was he? Right, hiding from the seemingly scary Russian man who he accidentally bumped into. Have to make sure not to walk down that road next time.

Luciano raised an eyebrow at Oliver's last comment. The Italian has seen a LOT of weird people in the past twenty years he's been on this earth. Many, many people.

"Oh really? Hit me."

“I will be quite honest, I doubt you would even believe me if I told you.”

Such a statement was a bit of an understatement, let alone if Luciano ever found out exactly who and what he actually was. It was already strange enough that someone like himself was doing something like this, that only those he knew personally knew he was more than just a humble baker running a small business.

“There’s quite a lot you don’t know about me obviously.”

Luciano rolled his eyes. "That's not surprising," he stated, "There's a lot you don't know about me either. We're complete strangers who happened to meet and talk a little through small conversations over the past few months. I'm sure you wouldn't believe me either if I told you more about myself."

He wasn't going to say anything too secretive, like his family "job" or his history with said "job". He wasn't going to get little Oliver killed. The tiny Brit look like he could barely defend himself with a knife.

Admittedly, Oliver was now intrigued by what Luciano just said. He himself wasn’t all that surprised by much of anything anymore, given all that he had gone through through the course of his long life. Taking another long sip of his own coffee and debating on if he at least wanted to get himself some lunch while he had a lull, he would have been alright with doing so in front of the boy. “Is that so?”

What on earth could a normal Uni student do that could actually possibly catch him off his guard?

“If you’re comfortable with it, try me.”

"It's..." Luciano cast his eyes to the side, avoiding eye contact, "I can't really talk about it in public." He slowly grabbed his drink and brought it up to his mouth. He took a long sip, suddenly feeling small and shy all of a sudden. He honestly didn't think Oliver would ask. That's embarrassing.

“....”

While there were times when Oliver had a difficult time reading the room, this was one of those times when it was loud and clear when he said something that he shouldn’t have and pushed the boundary a little too far.

“I... I’m sorry, that was quite unprofessional and rude of me. I shouldn’t have asked. Do... Let me know when you need more coffee as well.”

Luciano shook his head. "Nah, you're fine. I egged it on, anyway. I... no, nevermind."

It would be rude of him to just throw all of his pent up emotions to what is basically a complete stranger. Keep up your cool guy act, Luciano. Wait until you get back to the dorms. Without another word, Luciano put his headphones over his ears and drowned out the world with loud metal music. He finally felt like studying all of a sudden.

Luciano nodded, giving Oliver a genuine smile this time. "Again, thanks," he said, immediately reaching out for the drink in question. He could feel the warmth of the drink run through him as soon as he swallowed. Damn, that was incredibly needed.

"Don't think I've ever been down there before," he said, setting his cup down, "Never really traveled outside of Europe until recently. Gotta admit, college really has been both a blessing and a curse."

“Good, I am glad that you like it. I can’t even imagine what it’s like for students now, I hear enough from others kids such as yourself when they come for study sessions.” Replying with a hint of a chuckle himself and walking back behind the counter and taking a sip of his own coffee that was sitting nearby.

“I’ve been all over the world, and god only knows how much but I must admit, I will never understand how the Uni students are able to do it in particular. If you don’t mind my asking, how is it a blessing and a curse? It is not going well for you?”

"Well," Luciano started, "Let's just say that I never really had a 'normal childhood'." He took a bite out of one of the biscuits. Good as always. "So, college has been a huge change for me. Both good and bad. It's kind of overwhelming. But I'm away from my family, so that's good."

Luciano took another bite and placed the biscuit down on the plate. "Met a guy though. Has a strong personality, but isn't awful. Certainly makes everyday unique, ahah." There was a slight blush on his face, but the Italian didn't even notice it.

“Mm?” Oliver immediately perked at the mention of family, while he was curious about just what exactly he was dealing with, if Luciano wanted to say he would. He was used to overhearing conversations of many kinds, family troubles being one of the actual dominant ones. Or was it normal for teenagers to not get along with their parents or guardians? “Is that so? Well... Surely it will get easier.”

As Luciano continued to speak, that hint of a blush didn’t escape the Brit’s attention. Oh, so he met someone did he? He knew that look all too well. A knowing smile curled around the rim of his cup, taking another short sip of the warm liquid. “Oh so you actually made a friend? That’s wonderful! What is this bloke like?”

"Well, he's German, if that says anything," Luciano laughed, "And he looks tough, but doesn't act like it in the slightest. He's also really annoying. Constantly bothering me like a lost puppy dog. I'm honestly surprised he hasn't followed me here yet." He would feel quite bad for Oliver if he brought Lutz here. Might scare away the Brit's customers on accident.

“Is that so? He sounds just like a good friend of mine actually, you may actually get to meet the both of them eventually if you’re here at the same time. They both said they do intend to come by soon.” Oliver was beginning to notice a little bit of a pattern, his brow quirking as his grin slowly began to grow.

“It sounds like the two of you are close already though.”

He gave Oliver a weird look. "Really? I doubt it. He just drags me around everywhere and I'm forced to go with him. I wouldn't call that close." What would he know, though? He hasn't really had a true 'friend' in what felt like forever. Flavio didn't count: they were brothers. They were close, though, but Luciano wouldn't compare his brother to Lutz.

"You have weird friends if one of them is like Lutz," Luciano rolled his eyes.

Luciano practically threw his backpack onto the floor next to his chair at the table he sits at every time he comes to this place. If you're wondering why a kid like him would come to a place like this; he likes the atmosphere. All the pink is a bit much, but he's learned to deal with it.

"Usual is fine, thanks," he waved, taking a seat and pulling out his books. It took a moment before he slammed his head against the book, letting out a long groan.

Oliver knew that body language all too well from having quite a few regulars who were local kids from the area, and from speaking with them whenever any of them came in with that sort of impending gloom and doom sort of aura surrounding them, either it was an exam, project, or paper. More likely than not it was an exam.

“Big exam coming up I take it? I’ll make your coffee a little stronger, just this once.” Shaking his head with a hint of an understanding smile, disappearing back into the kitchen with a faint hum more so to himself. “It will be done for you in a jiffy!”

Oliver read him like a book. Not surprising with all the evidence he let out for himself. He's losing his touch.

No, he's trying to be normal.

"Thanks, I appreciate it," he grumbled, rolling his head to the side so that his words weren't muffled. He then pulled his phone out from his pocket and checked his notifications. So far, so good; nothing from his family. Guess they got the memo that this place ain't bugged or anything. Good. Good.

"How have you been?" he asked, deciding to make conversation. Anything to procrastinate from studying.

“Of course, it’s really no trouble since it’s... Quite obvious as well that it doesn’t seem as though you have gotten much sleep either. Is everything alright?”

That was one of the first things that Oliver actually noticed, were the bags under his eyes. It didn’t seem as though Luciano had slept, what on earth had been going on in his absence? Of course it was likely Ollie, Cait, or Alfred noticed since he was just another regular. However, he saw this boy every day since the middle of September. Of course he was going to notice certain things about him.

“Quite well, really! My fiancee and I just came back from vacation a couple of days ago, so I hope that my friend looking after everything didn’t caught too much trouble while I was gone.”

Luciano waved the comment off. "I was wondering where you two were. Nah, it was fine. A bit loud, but nothing too bad. I just drowned it out with some music."

He set his phone down on the table next to him and pulled out his notebook, begrudgingly. He knew he had to study but, augh. Out of all the subjects he had to take this semester, he hated math the most. Numbers were hard for him. Just give him a paintbrush or some test tubes or an instrument or anything but fucking numbers!

He was definitely more of a hands on learner.
