With my return to France, I believe this is an appropriate time to announce my retirement from politics, meaning this will be mon adresse finale.
The deaths of my close friends Alexandre Hamilton et George Washington have reminded me the importance of spending time around family in one's final years, and I do wish Madame Martha Washington et Madame Elizabeth Hamilton the best.
I would also like to thank Elizabeth for her efforts of telling Alexandre's story, as well as mine and my fellow soldats. I applaud her for her words against slavery, and her brave stance for what's right. And my highest respect goes to the funds raised for le Monument de Washington in DC. The efforts for mes défunts amis les plus proches speaks numbers to me.
And what goes without saying, is the establishment of the private orphanage located in New York. A place where children, born to the unfortunate circumstance of losing their parents, can look towards a brighter future. As an orphan myself, I exprimer ma gratitude to this effort.
Along with my retraite, I trust America's path as a growing country in mon ami Président Thomas Jefferson's hands, and believe that this nation is on its way to greatness. There isn't anything else I would need to assist with, as this nation is free and independent, as I myself fought for it to be.
As for France, even with its state as of this moment, I believe the people will fight against it and rise above, and there isn't much for an old man like me to do against it. The French people recognize conflict like this, and I have a firm belief in my country that they will do what's right.
So, with that said, I shall retreat to my estate and farm for the rest of my days, spending time close to the ones I love, and holding my efforts to improve both nations dear to me until I eventually reunite with ma famille et mes amis on the other side.
Adieu, jusqu'à ce que nous nous retrouvions, chers amis.
(Update: Burr decided to come back, so I must supervise in this case of emergency. My retirement is temporarily paused until I can live in peace.)
