Care, how could you be so clueless? The question plays in their mind self-deprecatingly on repeat as a familiar voice focuses their attention. The voice is familiar, but not quiet or friendly like they missed. Their breathing is shot with how erratic it gets. They're scared, and they feel terrible for it. They shouldn't have to be scared of this person... they shouldn't have to be scared of being hurt. (But they are. And they're a liar, because they have every right to tremble.)

They shove the adrenaline beating through them long enough to steady their fear-blurred gaze and breathing to turn back and force a smile. They really, really can't afford to run away right now, or look scared; heavens forbid they cry.

"...Hi, Doc-" They catch themselves. It'd be such a terrible idea to make him mad. He was fickle at best like this. At worst... well. Care was a lot of things, but they weren't a fool. The air reeks of blood and they have a hunch the fresh staining on his coat definitely isn't his. Just be nice. Just be normal. He's not well, that's not his fault. It will be fine. "...Doctor."

For a moment he thought this depressing excuse of a caretaker was going to at least try something, ANYTHING to fight back.

He stood in place, slightly hunched over, just staring back at them with that crazed look on his face, his eyes widening “Your actions are something quite important to your team, EVEN if you are just one person.”

It's funny, isnt it? This used to be someone who would fix others injuries, fight the killers when needed, someone with morals, just a civilian trying to get by. Now he's nothing more than just another broken mind in this world, awaiting his next victim.

"And I THINK I might need some of YOUR help, oh sweet and caring caretaker"

God that voice, that dreaded voice. Whenever he spoke just a bit softly, it sounded just like him. A twisted mirror of what once was.

This was a friend. It didn't matter how well they knew him, this was someone they'd shared their time with. Time that feels cut too short. They wanted to know what had gone so wrong, wanted to know if there was something that could have been done... and, despite their fears, they wanted to know if there was still something they could do to help him. Placate him, fix him, find some kind of even ground--

...Help? Care's wandering thoughts are brought to a halt at Doc's words. When did he get closer? They ignore their immediate thought to step back, rooting in place. The request is a subtle mockery of his old voice, so close but so wrong. Their head tells them it's a ploy. But it tugs on their bleeding heart, and they wonder... maybe this is their chance to try.

They force the tension from their shoulders, cross their arms both to self-soothe and to at least feign some calmness... and smile. Something less strained than before; something friendly. "Just be nice," they internally assure themself.

It intrigued him.

At this point, anyone else would've just ran off or pick a meaningless fight against him, yet this civilian is choosing to do something so reckless with their own life.

Even when he knows they've seen him kill a couple of their teammates, maim their bodies, toy with those whose life were only mere seconds away from fading.

Funtime couldn't help but find all of this so hilarious. It's truly touching how someone like Care is WILLING to help someone like himself; a deranged maniac who could just easily cut them in half with that grand chainsaw of his (He most definitely thought of doing so during the past few minutes of them talking.)

They're painfully aware of their proximity by now. They internally struggle in debate: move closer and risk being hurt or worse; or pass the bottle over. They make their decision after a moment longer, shakily (and slowly, goodness they know they didn't want to set him off) reaching for their healing flask.

"...I-I'm sorry to...hear that." They try to sympathize. (It's a small gesture.) "I do... here, just..." They can't help how tightly they grip it out of its pocket to mask the trembling of their hands. Care would take a breath before they find it in them to take a step closer, their hand meeting his own to pass the bottle and shakily close his fingers around it, followed by a light pat. The gesture is kind, if not skittish.

Oh--! They seem elated you'd bother to ask at all! Though they have to admit it's less of a 'garden' and more of a 'bedroom with a lot of plants in it.' Most of them are quite easy to care for with the right knowledge! There are more than a few common houseplants; people often see, but don't bother to learn about!

She stared at all the plants in awe, especially because they were all so pretty to her. Some of them even reminded them of her favorite characters!

She had to basically hold herself back from hopping around a little, going to the strings and zipper pull on her jacket to fidget around with.

"oh!- Those lilies remind me of you!"

She was happy care seemed to be happy with her compliments on them and their plants. She hoped it was something that kinda stuck with them in a good way.

"oh! Before I forget!"

She took out a bracelet, it wasn't themed around them but it's thought that counts right?

She took out her flip phone, checking if her dad messaged her before putting the device back in her bag and closing said bag back up, looking at the keychain on it for a moment before going back to talking to care.

"Oh? I wouldn't mind... If you have somewhere to be though, don't let me keep you...!" As nice as she seemed, they didn't want to keep anyone held up for too long, ignoring that they had a few things they needed to get to as well... They can't help but feel a little lucky at their recent string of friendly meetings, though. And--oh!

She seemed grateful care reminded her about that! She didn't wanna be here for too long!

She started gently shake her hands to calm herself a little while asking them this.

After a moment of trepidation they finally find it in them to shuffle through the doorway; revealing a rather battered-looking Caretaker marred with various scrapes, several cuts still weeping blood, and a rather unfortunate-looking burn on their right forearm. They open their mouth to speak, though the words seem to escape them for a second before they can finally get them out:

"...Could you—help...?"

They didn't really hear the knocks since they were so soft and they were already preoccupied with some stuff, answering to be more exact. Once they heard the door opening and the other caretakers voice asking for help their heart inmediatly dropped at their state. They opened their eyes in pure horror

"Goodness gracious! what happened to you!?"

She rushed to care, holding their face as she inspected them more throughrougly. She smelled the circuitry smoke too, making assumptions

"Oh dear. Were you against Badware? Killdroid? Both!? Oh nonono you need serious help quickly! Come here, dear"

They occasionally shiver like they're going to fall over; and it's clear in how they practically slump into themselves once they get to the medical bed how badly they needed to sit down... Less so from injuries and more so from fright. It takes them a minute to actually try and speak up, watching Patt hastily look them over. Care's healing bottle is not on their person...

"...Badware..." They affirm. Their voice carries a strained warble to it. "Bonuspad had to throw out another one of the computers from the basement and... we'd moved it outside to toss it out, but..."

...But despite the unplugging and subsequent hammer-beating Bonuspad had dished out to the computer, it seemed that the busted-up, virus-riddled piece of junk had enough life left in it to be warped to, and that walking virus had clearly sensed the tampering. They look distant, recalling the sound of the chime. That momentary second of realization on both Bonuspad's and their own face. Bonus had gotten away mostly scot-free, but judging by Care's own physical appearance, they couldn't say the same for themselves.

"...Bonus is mostly fine... I don't think it likes me though." They weakly try to inject a little bit of humor into their situation, but it's half-hearted at best.

"Oh you poor thing... It's gonna be ok...! Just uhh... Love! Get me some-"

"Bandages, alcohol and probably a needle and string. Mhm i know -_-"

"Oh... And some ibuprofen. Go!"

"On it boss! ^^"

Loveware didn't seem to mind Care's presence, if not a bit annoyed? Could be about anything really...

"By the way, hon. You should never get anywhere near the computers those bastards put down. If the motherboard and hardware isn't completly desintegrated just the sheer fact it exists and has the virus in it makes it usable for them to teleport to"

"Besides, it's not a you thing. Those things just generally dislike having their stuff tampered with"

She mentioned while grabbing what was necessary. She stopped for a moment to really think about what she just said

"Uh...not that i'd know much of that, of course °_ °' "

"Sorry..." They mumble out the apology, not entirely sure why. They really should just relax; it can't be that hard. So why do they keep shivering? Loveware's words weren't exactly reassuring... (but that's not her fault, no?)

"...A-annoying is a word for it..." They add. "it broke my bottle, and now I gotta get a new one..."

She said as she got close once more. Everything needed including a brand new bottle in her hands. She set down everything on the free space of the bed

"Breaking stuff is basically second nature for them, and being assholes about it is first"

"But it wasn't your fault. Or your friend's"

She looked directly at Care. Three dots on her screen. Her tone changed to a more empathetic one as she tried reassuring them. Whatever was annoying her before seems to have nothing to do with Care themselves and more to do with badware. Hm...

"Either way. Why are you shaking °-°? Are you cold? And you look like you could die of anxiety alone... (•́︿•̀ )"

"We have anxiety medication (´･ᴗ･`)! We could give one pill, or half, or as much as you need!-"

"Love! You cannot just offer those, that's prescription based...!"

"Ohh. Right, i think that's stupid (¬ ¬ )..."

"...It's just... a lot of bad run-ins is all..." They mutter out, gaze hyperfocused on the bottle in their hands now. For something so goal-oriented, it really got a kick out of people's misery. "I'm just... overthinking it, I'm just nervous..." Just busy trying to mask their own discomfort (poorly); re-living a healthy(?) amount of electronics exploding right in their face; just busy trying to pretend that being in the same room as a computer twice their size wasn't even a little bit alarming and guilt-inducing because they don't have any reason to be making associations and be so spooked. They feel a little stupid. Their vocal chords hurt...

"and--what?" ...and then their disassociation is abruptly stopped by the offer followed by Carepads apparently half-mortified scolding. They bite the inside of their mouth a little in even a seconds contemplation of just agreeing... but opt to just shake their head with a weary smile, the edges of their nerves smoothed out a bit at the apparent effort to get them to relax. (Despite being a nurse they always have been pretty stubborn about taking medicine themselves...)

She made some jazz hands after that pun to try and lighten the mood. After a few seconds of silence she played a coughing sound effect

"Uh... Anyways. Yeah! You better survive, caretakers have been so scarce lately (•︿•;)"

"That! Is enough, Loveware... I am so sorry about her...!"

Patt grabbed all the supplies while waving a hand to try and apologize about Loveware's entire behaviour

"We do not have any anesthesia, haven't gotten a re-fill in a couple of days... So this is gonna hurt. I'll try to get this done as quickly as possible so you can go rest over at the living quarters..."

"Please for the love of god go rest after this..."

"I really hope you have a high pain tolerance..."

"They seem to! I mean, with all these nasty cuts and bruises and that burn i'm surprised they aren't doubled over in pain right now ｡‸｡". I've seen people faint over less (￢_￢)!"

"That is true... But still"

Loveware then moves positions to be closer to where Care was leaning on the bed

"Listen dear, if it gets too much to handle you can hold onto me. I'm a robot, i won't mind ^^"

"I'll... try. I can see why... I-it's fine," They answer softly in some effort to maintain some modicum of lightheartedness; offering Patty an apologetic look. There wasn't exactly a plentiful amount of people who had enough medical knowledge to care for others. Their own value to their team is something that motivated them to put in as much effort as they could muster. Honestly, they really did need a nap...

"I-it's not the first time. Being this hurt I mean... It's fine." If anything they would be not-so-proud to say they've had it worse. They bite their tongue a little bit at their own word repetition, tongue stuck out in contemplation. The adrenaline still skipping through their system was doing a lot of heavy lifting to numb a lot of the pain they really should be feeling right now... but that doesn't stop them from looking a little nervous at the idea of doing any of this without anesthetic. "I'll survive... probably..."

Patt first addressed the obvious burn on their forearm, using cotton swabs and alcohol to clean it throughroughly before applying some healing ointment and bandages. Then they went for the cuts, the bigger ones getting stiches and the smaller ones getting patches or bandaids depending on size (of course, getting desinfected first), the scrapes getting similar treatment. Patt seemed very distressed the entire time, as if they could feel it too, muttering sorry's at the more obviously painful parts

Loveware tried diverting Care's attention by playing nice gifs she happened to have downloaded. Cute puppys, kittens playing, the occasional heart animation and a couple funny moments, she cycled through them like a slideshow in hopes of distracting them from the pain. She at some point tried getting her other hand close to Care's head but decided against it, who's to know what she was gonna do? (Pet them, she wanted to pet them. As an attempt at comfort, of course)

It took a bit to be finished, not the quickest thing ever... Patt took her time to triple check the final result and sighed once she was convinced everything was "better" (or taken care of, at least)

"There you go, dear... Uhm. Here, have an ibuprofen. I am so sorry..."

Patt went to a nearby mini fridge to retrive some water for Care, leaving them and Loveware alone

"... How do you feel, sweetie?"

It couldn't have been more than thirty minutes... but it felt like forever. They let out a breath they once again failed to realize they had been holding, muttering out a quiet 'It's fine' as Patty steps away. They look and feel reasonably exhausted; hunched over and feeling more than a little sleepy.

She actually decided to use her hand to pat them gently. It wasn't the most comfortable thing considering her -again- weirdly shaped hand but it's not like she was hitting them over the head with it... Like some others that look like her might do. She displayed on her screen a heart gif with the words "i love you" on it, it didn't go away after a couple seconds for another gif so maybe she was keeping it there for them. An attempt at comfort, probably

"Alright, here...!"

Patt got back with a bottle of water, a worried expression still on their face that they were trying to mask with relief. They got closer to them as they opened the water and handed it to them, also handing a very large circular pill

"A 400mg ibuprofen should do it, at least make you feel better... If we get stronger painkillers you can come by to get them if you feel like you need them..."

They opt to quietly stare at the floor up until Patty comes wandering back, taking the bottle and the pill quietly with a nod and a 'thank you.' They look a little hesitant to take the medication for a second before steeling themselves and downing it in one go.

"Every day..."

They held their head low in what looked like shame. They were embarrased that they didn't look in their up most condition even though they don't remember the last time they even felt like that. Either way, being the only person in charge of caring for the injured when they get back is not exactly very relaxing, specially considering how seriously they take this job and how empathetic to a fault they are. But this isn't about them, far from it

"I'm fine though! I'll be fine... You should be hading off to rest though..."

"Do you need any help? Loveware can carry you to the living quarters...!"

"If you're comfortable of course (•﹏•;)! No pressure (ᴗ_ᴗ)"

"...It's okay to be tired... if you need help you can... talk to me?" They try to reassure with a small smile, carefully pushing themselves off the medical bed to stand with a small wince as they keep muttering, "I-I'll be okay. I'm... sorry. I can walk..." ...Though they can at least appreciate the sentiment of asking.

They did a dismissive hand motion while looking away. The last thing they wanted was to be a bother to anyone

"Of course you can..."

Patt nodded and smiled, a bit embarrased of the offer now. Still instictively putting her arms around Care just in case they became too lightheaded and fell, it has happened before, and its quite dangerous

"It'd never be an issue, talking to you..." They sheepishly note, finally letting themselves step back to leave. "I mean-even if it's about nothing... we can just hang out. I... thank you, again... both of you."

"You take care too...! Be careful out there..."

Patt smiled as they saw them walking away, happy that they managed to help another person out

She went over to the chair near her desk and slumped on it with a deep sigh. All her poorly hidden worry and anxiety showing more clearly on her face. She wiped some sweat beads off of her forehead with her sleeve.

"Ohh. Right, i think that's stupid (¬ ¬ )..."

"...It's just... a lot of bad run-ins is all..." They mutter out, gaze hyperfocused on the bottle in their hands now. For something so goal-oriented, it really got a kick out of people's misery. "I'm just... overthinking it, I'm just nervous..." Just busy trying to mask their own discomfort (poorly); re-living a healthy(?) amount of electronics exploding right in their face; just busy trying to pretend that being in the same room as a computer twice their size wasn't even a little bit alarming and guilt-inducing because they don't have any reason to be making associations and be so spooked. They feel a little stupid. Their vocal chords hurt...

"and--what?" ...and then their disassociation is abruptly stopped by the offer followed by Carepads apparently half-mortified scolding. They bite the inside of their mouth a little in even a seconds contemplation of just agreeing... but opt to just shake their head with a weary smile, the edges of their nerves smoothed out a bit at the apparent effort to get them to relax. (Despite being a nurse they always have been pretty stubborn about taking medicine themselves...)

She made some jazz hands after that pun to try and lighten the mood. After a few seconds of silence she played a coughing sound effect

"Uh... Anyways. Yeah! You better survive, caretakers have been so scarce lately (•︿•;)"

"That! Is enough, Loveware... I am so sorry about her...!"

Patt grabbed all the supplies while waving a hand to try and apologize about Loveware's entire behaviour

"We do not have any anesthesia, haven't gotten a re-fill in a couple of days... So this is gonna hurt. I'll try to get this done as quickly as possible so you can go rest over at the living quarters..."

"Please for the love of god go rest after this..."

"I really hope you have a high pain tolerance..."

"They seem to! I mean, with all these nasty cuts and bruises and that burn i'm surprised they aren't doubled over in pain right now ｡‸｡". I've seen people faint over less (￢_￢)!"

"That is true... But still"

Loveware then moves positions to be closer to where Care was leaning on the bed

"Listen dear, if it gets too much to handle you can hold onto me. I'm a robot, i won't mind ^^"

"I'll... try. I can see why... I-it's fine," They answer softly in some effort to maintain some modicum of lightheartedness; offering Patty an apologetic look. There wasn't exactly a plentiful amount of people who had enough medical knowledge to care for others. Their own value to their team is something that motivated them to put in as much effort as they could muster. Honestly, they really did need a nap...

"I-it's not the first time. Being this hurt I mean... It's fine." If anything they would be not-so-proud to say they've had it worse. They bite their tongue a little bit at their own word repetition, tongue stuck out in contemplation. The adrenaline still skipping through their system was doing a lot of heavy lifting to numb a lot of the pain they really should be feeling right now... but that doesn't stop them from looking a little nervous at the idea of doing any of this without anesthetic. "I'll survive... probably..."

Patt first addressed the obvious burn on their forearm, using cotton swabs and alcohol to clean it throughroughly before applying some healing ointment and bandages. Then they went for the cuts, the bigger ones getting stiches and the smaller ones getting patches or bandaids depending on size (of course, getting desinfected first), the scrapes getting similar treatment. Patt seemed very distressed the entire time, as if they could feel it too, muttering sorry's at the more obviously painful parts

Loveware tried diverting Care's attention by playing nice gifs she happened to have downloaded. Cute puppys, kittens playing, the occasional heart animation and a couple funny moments, she cycled through them like a slideshow in hopes of distracting them from the pain. She at some point tried getting her other hand close to Care's head but decided against it, who's to know what she was gonna do? (Pet them, she wanted to pet them. As an attempt at comfort, of course)

It took a bit to be finished, not the quickest thing ever... Patt took her time to triple check the final result and sighed once she was convinced everything was "better" (or taken care of, at least)

"There you go, dear... Uhm. Here, have an ibuprofen. I am so sorry..."

Patt went to a nearby mini fridge to retrive some water for Care, leaving them and Loveware alone

"... How do you feel, sweetie?"

It couldn't have been more than thirty minutes... but it felt like forever. They let out a breath they once again failed to realize they had been holding, muttering out a quiet 'It's fine' as Patty steps away. They look and feel reasonably exhausted; hunched over and feeling more than a little sleepy.

She actually decided to use her hand to pat them gently. It wasn't the most comfortable thing considering her -again- weirdly shaped hand but it's not like she was hitting them over the head with it... Like some others that look like her might do. She displayed on her screen a heart gif with the words "i love you" on it, it didn't go away after a couple seconds for another gif so maybe she was keeping it there for them. An attempt at comfort, probably

"Alright, here...!"

Patt got back with a bottle of water, a worried expression still on their face that they were trying to mask with relief. They got closer to them as they opened the water and handed it to them, also handing a very large circular pill

"A 400mg ibuprofen should do it, at least make you feel better... If we get stronger painkillers you can come by to get them if you feel like you need them..."

They opt to quietly stare at the floor up until Patty comes wandering back, taking the bottle and the pill quietly with a nod and a 'thank you.' They look a little hesitant to take the medication for a second before steeling themselves and downing it in one go.

"Every day..."

They held their head low in what looked like shame. They were embarrased that they didn't look in their up most condition even though they don't remember the last time they even felt like that. Either way, being the only person in charge of caring for the injured when they get back is not exactly very relaxing, specially considering how seriously they take this job and how empathetic to a fault they are. But this isn't about them, far from it

"I'm fine though! I'll be fine... You should be hading off to rest though..."

"Do you need any help? Loveware can carry you to the living quarters...!"

"If you're comfortable of course (•﹏•;)! No pressure (ᴗ_ᴗ)"

"...It's okay to be tired... if you need help you can... talk to me?" They try to reassure with a small smile, carefully pushing themselves off the medical bed to stand with a small wince as they keep muttering, "I-I'll be okay. I'm... sorry. I can walk..." ...Though they can at least appreciate the sentiment of asking.

They did a dismissive hand motion while looking away. The last thing they wanted was to be a bother to anyone

"Of course you can..."

Patt nodded and smiled, a bit embarrased of the offer now. Still instictively putting her arms around Care just in case they became too lightheaded and fell, it has happened before, and its quite dangerous

"It'd never be an issue, talking to you..." They sheepishly note, finally letting themselves step back to leave. "I mean-even if it's about nothing... we can just hang out. I... thank you, again... both of you."
