Araceli nodded at the shopkeeperâs request, quietly passing the cartridge to the other boy. He was still a bit hesitant to let Pronto (or anyone, for that matter) see his things but it was just natural for him to be paranoid. He returned the gun to his satchel with a quiet âThanks,â before blinking up at Pronto attentively. Ah⊠well. It was understandable if the shop didnât sell something like that. He had a feeling the projectile was custom-made (transparent bullets filled with a mix of blessed water and seraph tears werenât exactly very commonplace), but he needed to try anyway. Doing his job would be a lot harder once he ran out.
Araceli took his bullet back from Pronto a bit bashfully, rubbing the cold metal across his fingers. After a moment of brief consideration he vaguely replied. âAn exorcist.â
Prontoâs eyebrow couldnât help but lift a little at his answer. Ok now his purchases made more sense, so he was an exorcist. Just from that he could easily guess what those bullets were for, and since-- Was his satchel opening on itâs own?
Jem was having fun watching the shop owner swoon and look at this customer all moony-eyed but he really could only go so long just watching. He was itching for something to do and the moment he saw that gun his fingers twitched. Well they would have if he had proper fingers instead of the ribbon-like tendrils of blood extending from the stumps of his wrist hidden by the long sleeves of his sweater. Even though he had tried his best to wind them into a shape approximating normal hands, with 11 fingers and all (or was it supposed to be 10? Never mind, no one would notice if it was a little off), it was pretty clear they werenât actual hands at all. Now though, he was quietly attempting to open the satchel to take that gun-- or he would be if he didnât notice his usual companionâs hard glare towards him. uh oh.Â
âJem,â Prontoâs voice held a hard warning.
[Cotton] "Hello there!~ I am just asking around to see if anyone would like to visit and see the circus I work at! Sadly, we haven't had as many visitors lately."
âEh? A circus?â Pronto, who had been lazing about the shop reading a (questionable?) magazine perked up at the mention of a circus. âSure, sign me up! Not like thereâre many customers today anywayâ
âI simply need something that could erase about⊠15 minutes of memory. Maybe less. Though.. Giving the potion to someone would prove to be difficult, in the situation I would use it in. Sometimes people see things they arenât so happy to see. So maybe magic is more convenientâŠâ He looks at Pronto when they grin, and he smiles as well, âI seem rather indecisive donât I? Just give me something completely random then. As I donât have much else in mind besides that. And something random might be more interesting.â He looks around and observes the potions, âIâm sure whatever you give me Iâll use at some point.â
Pronto nimbly picked out a small vial, about the size of his thumb from the rows of potions. The liquid inside had a cloudy looking emulsion in it, and it sloshes about sluggishly in itâs glassy container. âI donât have specific potions for just fifteen minutes but I think a few drops of this diluted with any drink should be enough to help you wipe, say, 10 or so of the past minutes? You should try not to let people overdose though.â
He paused at Cottonâs request for a ârandom potionâ. He didnât usually like people buying things at random, haphazardly taking things they might not ever use. People usually came to his shop for a reason. They wanted or needed something, and the shop could provide. People taking things at random wasnât ideal. Still...
âHow about this? You can have fun finding out itâs use yourself,â he pulled out something resembling a test tube with what looked like a small purple cloud drifting about aimlessly within, up and down the narrow space as if it was restless. âWill that be all?â

((Yo you guys should send in asks for Jem/Pronto while I still have my last three days of holiday il|(ÂŽÏïŸlâŽâŹ ))
Araceliâs eyes widened in surprise when the other started the selling priceâ there was probably a monthâs supply of incense in those jars and he was willing to part with them for so cheap! The boy had to consciously suppress his vocal chords before he let out the astounded âwhat?!â that lingered on the tip of his tongue, but his mouth still fell open in bemusement. âR-Really? Thââ He cleared his throat, making a mental note to tip generously later on. âThank you.â
When the two jars seemed to vanish into thin air, Araceli couldnât help his jaw dropping a second time. No way! Did this kid justâ amazing! He composed himself as quickly as he could, the thought that well, it was only reasonable someone in charge of a shop that was so obviously filled with magic should be a proficient magician himself glazing over his astonishment. âOh, uh!â At Pronoâs next inquiries, he quickly shoved off the bag on his back and rummaged through one of its many pockets, after a moment producing the bullet in question:
âTheyâre like thisâŠâ The projectile itself was transparent (plastic? glass? something else?) and carried a faintly luminescent liquid within it (looking into the glow produced a serene feelingâ unless you were a demon). Araceli pursed his lips and kept his gaze on something within his bag for a moment before exhaling softly through his mouth. âUh, the gunâ itâs kind of a revolver, but⊠well.â
He pulled out a gun that looked somewhat akin to this monstrosity that Iâll link because drawing guns will take five more hours. He could feel the heat of nervousness take over him, but he had no reason to be afraid of the shop keeper, right?Â
Pronto let out a long, low whistle at the sight of the bullet his companion produced. The the gentle movement of the liquid contained within it and the calming effect it induced fascinated him enough that for a couple of seconds he found himself not staring at Araceli but instead at the projectile in his hands. âCan I see it?â He took the bullet as the other pulled out his gun with a look of anxiety written clearly across his face.Â
âNice,â Pronto nodded appreciatively at the finely crafted firearm, absentmindedly twirling the bullet in his fingers. âTo be completely honest with you I canât say for sure if I have this sort of ammunition,â he admitted, holding up the bullet to the light and squinting slightly as if he could determine itâs contents if he stared hard enough. The fact that it wasnât just an ordinary bullet was obvious, but he swore he could feel a small undercurrent of power thrumming through the bullet itself, almost like a jolt of static electricity that was transmitted to him through his fingertips. âWhere or who exactly did you get this from?â he asked with genuine curiousity, returning the object in question back to itâs owner, fingers lingering maybe a fraction of a second longer than they had to when they brushed against the otherâs hands. Or maybe not, looking at how casually Pronto returned his hands into the pockets of his soft blue hoodie.Â
"Have you ever tried eating something other than blood?" ((from Jem/0287!))
Gula frowns as she stared blankly at the brightly lit display. She twists a strand of hair absentmindedly with her finger. âTowards the beginning I tried to eat cake. Didnât quite taste right⊠It was almost like sour milk.â She smiles weakly at her visitor.
âThough itâs been quite awhile since that day.â Her smile brightens. âAnyways, I seemed to have gotten off track. Is there anything else I can get you? Another coffee or perhaps a cake?â Gula glances over at the windows at the darkened streets before turning her attention back at her guest.
Jem turned his gaze towards the colourful array of desserts and treats on display thoughtfully. Or, maybe not, it was hard to tell where he was looking when his eyes were fully black, all pupil without any hint of white along the edges. âMmmm... Red velvet cake please!â He requested enthusiastically, a wide grin showing off his sharpened teeth in a strangely endearing manner.
âThen how do you get blood? Do you need to order it? Yâknow the shop I live in could help out with that if you need any,â he offered sweetly as he returned to his earlier line of questioning. The questions themselves could be seen as almost mocking, but somehow coming from the ghost that had been hanging out in the corner of the cafe since early afternoon, it reflected only a simple curiousity and desire to please.
Cotton indeed follows, not exactly fond of the sudden âburning rubberâ smell, but he pays it no mind and uses his left hand to cover his nose and mouth, âLove potion? âŠThatâs adorable. And as much as Iâd enjoy having some of that to keep. I am actually looking for something, that could make someone forget?â
Pronto couldnât surpress his smirk at the disgruntled expression of the genie at the ever-shifting scents of the potions mixing together. His potions tended to be a little more potent than the usual stock, but the enhanced magical properties did come with the price of also  exaggerating their physical attributes as well, nasty smells included.
âMaking someone forget?â his gaze ran over the rows of different potions in the room, as if taking stock of them. âWell it depends really. General memory wipers of say, the past three days can be bought ready-made, but if you want them to forget something specific youâll need to buy the potion custom-made by yours truly.â He flashed a brilliant grin at Cotton then, and while it was devilishly handsome, it probably wasnât all that confidence-boosting.Â

Prontoâs head tilted a little to the side, one eyebrow lifted slightly at his comment. âYou lead an interesting life, huh?â he grinned as he gently brushed past him to reach into a shelf to pull out two small glass jars with the desired incense. âRosemary⊠Sage⊠Ah here they are. How much of each do you need?â
Truth be told he was definitely curious about this guy, not just because he was hot af, but he really wanted to know more about him. It was an incessant niggling at the back of his head, prodding him to ask more, learn more, know more about this mystery kid whoâd walked into his shop. He wanted to know everything. Purifying incenses, bullets, wondering what he wanted them for teased the edges of his mind, pushing him to find out more, he didnât even bother wondering why this made him so insatiable curious when heâd rarely, if ever, felt this way before.
Still, he managed to contain himself for now, surely heâd have time to ask him questions later, or maybe find out those answers himself. In the meantime however, his gaze on this latest customer was a little more intense then usual, almost like it could see right through him if he tried hard enough.
Araceli smiled back a tiny bit, this time genuinely. âSometimes too interesting, honestlyâŠâ He rubbed the back of his neck with his usual sheepishness, glancing at the jars the other produced. âOh! Um.â The boy stiffly moved to dig a beaten-up leather wallet out of his pocket, undoing its button to make sure he had enough currency. âErâ well. How much are they?â
He thumbed at a $20 bill (or whatever the Fanpro equivalent of $20s would be) nervously, feeling kind of heated now that Pronto was looking at him as if he were about to be dinner.
Tearing his gaze away from the boyâs face to his hands which were hesitantly fiddling with his wallet, Pronto couldnât help a small smirk. âDonât worry,â he assured him, âI wouldnât overcharge you for just sage and Rosemary. These are pretty common, after all.â Weighing the two miniature jars in his hands consideringly, he glanced back up to his customers face. âThese arenât that big anyway, you can have them both for $10.â
Ok maybe he was selling it slightly cheaper than he normally would but hey, he was the shopkeeper. He could give discounts to pretty boys if he wanted.
Straightening up, he made a small gesture with his hands that made the two jars of incense disappearâ almost like a magicians sleight ofhand trick. âyou can pay and collect later, after we get your bullets,â he said casually. âAre you looking for any specific types? What kind of gun do you have?â

Sweat started to bead up on his forehead. Why was he looking at him like that?Araceli looked to the side nervously, trying to avoid eye contact even though he could still feel Prontoâs gaze on him. He couldnât really read the otherâs expression, but his self-consciousness nagged at his mind that it wasnât anything good.
It seemed as if he let out a held breath when the shopkeeper finally moved on, striding off to another part of the room. Araceli followed close but not too close behind, gaping in awe at the assortment of objects that adorned the shopâs walls. His collection of trinkets from Profasâ outskirts was nothing compared to this. He couldnât help but wonder where such a young man got all of this stuffâ unless he happened to be way older than he appeared. The boy squinted a bit at the thought, but was quickly sidetracked by the arrival to their destination.
âWow,â he was compelled to quietly state his admiration, walking along the wall and ever so gently running his fingers against the glass. He listened to Pronto as he did, chuckling kind of sarcastically before he replied. âHah. Iâd rather not bring any more demons to my doorâŠâ Araceli looked to the side, half-smiling in the disgruntled way one would if they were reliving a bad memory. âUm. Do you have sage and rosemary?â He looked back at Pronto now, rubbing his neck.
Araceli felt his own cheeks heat up in embarrassment when the other boy turned away with a look of amusement on his face. Heck! Then it was as awkward as he thought! He half-covered his face with one hand and looked to the side, admiring the⊠the⊠clutter. Which wasnât to say clutter was a bad thing. This odd shop looked just like his old house. Well, like it did before theâŠ
Nevermind. Araceliâs attention was caught again by the shopkeeper, the otherâs words snapping him out of his nostalgia with a little jump. âO-Oh. Okay then.â He nodded sheepishly, blinking for a moment before looking at the parchment protruding from his pocket as if he wasnât aware he had just put it there himself. He began to fish it out, unfurling it and folding it properly. âUhâ Yeah. Iâmâ no, this is just a mapâ but uh. Do you have incense? And um⊠bullets?â
He wouldâve much rather looked for his items alone, but looking at the complexity of the shop around him⊠maybe asking would be the better choice.
âHmm...â Truth be told Pronto was a little distracted by that barely-hidden blush that subtly tinted the other boys cheeks to really be thinking about incense and bulle-- Oh he was buying bullets? Â Wow this guy only got better and better. Incense and bullets wasnât really a common combination though...
âYeah, yeah of course!â He snapped out of his admiring daze, straightening up slightly. âJust follow me here.â Pronto bent a crooked finger in a sort of âcome with meâ gesture, eager to guide him to a side of the room where the shelves were lined with different sorts of incense, each neatly contained in clear jars. There were even different types of joss sticks bundled nicely in a small basket at the side.Â
âFirst stop, incense. Are you looking for anything in particular? Something that just smells good, something to summon half of hell onto your doorstep...â Pronto placed his hands on his hips and checked out looked at Araceli from the corner of his eyes with interest.Â
âAre you sure?â Araceli reached out to help the poor kid up, brows furrowed in concern. Falling from that height, he was afraid his new company mightâve gotten a concussionâ and without touching the other boy he leaned over to make sure he wasnât bleeding. And he wasnât, but with the look on his face, the exorcist was tempted to ask if he was okay a second time. I mean, flushed cheeks werenât usually a good thing. What was he thinking, using a stack of books atop a chair as a boost?! I mean, the shopkeeper had to have a ladder somewhere, they shouldnât just let their customeâ oh.Â
His lips pulled into a thin line at the otherâs introduction, though he still looked more concerned than judging. âW-Well Mister Shopkeeper, please be more careful,â he hoped that didnât come out as awkward as he thought it did, agh. It was so weird calling someone that looked no older than him a âmisterâ.
Pronto had to stifle a small burst of laughter, turning away to had a small smile at that overly-formal way of addressing him âMister Shopkeeperâ... Most people did it the other way around, talking down to him despite his job just because he was still a teen. Oh man, this guy was absolutely precious, it was cute how formal he was acting, although Pronto supposed he would prefer it if they could be less formal with each other. Much less formal mmmhmmmm.
âYou can just call me Pronto, really,â he said, âAnd I will. I was just... nevermind really. Anyway, are you here for anything in particular?â He couldnât help but notice the crumpled piece of paper that had been in the guyâs hands that was now sticking out of the pocket of his shorts. âIs that a shopping list?â
