The only other place that could keep such prisoners is in an asylum. No way to bail them out of there. Of course, I had to know for sure so I may have borrowed an orderly's uniform and badge, blending in well with the staff. Even Nurse Ratchet couldn't tell the difference between us. That's when I knew I was correct. Belle in an unmarked cell? Her Majesty couldn't have been more obvious. "
How is Grace handling remembering who she is? Is it easier than you thought before?
"I have never expected it to be easy on her or anyone. Grace has always been a smart girl, way smarter than I can ever be. Of course, it breaks my heart whenever she apologizes about not remembering me during the curse when it's not her fault at all but that's just who she is. She cares and loves so deeply, she isn't much different than who she was before the curse. Overall, she is taking the changes well, adjusting to having two families."
Are you staying out of town now that you and Grace are reunited or more involved?
"Grace is my priority and I'm gonna be there for her from now on. Even if it means I have to show my face in town and be more involved with parent activities. It's all for her. "
Now that there’s magic in Storybrooke again, can you make a new hat? Or did you get your hate somewhere?
There's no way to make a new hat without powerful magic. So far there was only one person who could do such a thing but she's kind of not available at the moment.
However, getting it to work isn't important to me anymore now that my daughter's back in my life. I'll only try to get it to work again if she wishes it to but she's happy here. I don't care where I live as long as we're together.

"Get it to work! Get it to work! Get it to Work! GET IT TO WORK!"
Stitch after stitch, the hatter had uttered such words for what seemed for an eternity. After another hat done, he tried spinning it on the ground hoping for it to form a purple vortex to open a portal just as his old enchanted Hat before the Evil Queen had taken it.
The hatter attempted to spin the hat again. However, yet again, was in vain. It was simply another hat. With a frustrated growl, he tossed it on top of a pile of hats. It turned out there were hundreds in that room. And none of them worked.
Jefferson could not count the days he was trapped in such a room after the Queen of Hearts demanded he make another enchanted hat in exchange for his head to be magically reattached. When he would get one to work, he couldn't wait to leave Wonderland and reunite with his daughter. However, in Wonderland, it was simply unpossible.
Before he would pick up another piece of fabric to make a new one, he heard a portal open but it was not from the hat. The White Rabbit emerged out of a golden vortex and as it closed behind him, he scurried over to the hatter.
"Mr. Hatter! I'm here to rescue you and take you back to your daughter!"
Jefferson dropped the fabric and got up. He couldn't believe it. "How did you find me?"
"No, questions. Let's go!"
"Wait." The hatter gazed at the White Rabbit apprehensively. "Why are you helping me?"
The White Rabbit let out a deep sigh. "No reason other than that you shall owe me a favor. Deal?“ He said extending his hand.
The Hatter did not have time to think it over as he shook the small creature’s hand. “Deal.”
The White Rabbit waved his hand, forming another golden vortex. "Now hurry, we must go now!"
The hatter smiled, excited to be reunited at last with his Grace as he ran over to the White Rabbit and followed him through his portal back to the Enchanted Forest.
Once he emerged out of the portal, he could see his cottage in the distance. He grinned, feeling his heart pound in his chest. Before he would thank The White Rabbit, he turned to see that he had already disappeared.
As he made his way over to the cottage, two of the Evil Queen's Knights were there waiting for him and seized him. He yelled out for Grace but the cottage was too far for them to hear as he was tossed into a carriage, the Black Knight locking him up. The carriage rushed away as he continued yelling for them until his voice faded further and further down the path toward the Evil Queen's castle.
At a distance, the Dark Curse had been rolling over the realm.

Was it hard to at first, caring for baby Grace by yourself?
Of course it was hard at first but I was also very lucky. Grace has always been a good kid so it wasn't as difficult. I definitely was difficult to raise. Probably why I don't know where my parents went. Ha!
