The Eridians had recieved a distress signal from a human colony and they weren't about to let that go unanswered, not after meeting Grace so long ago. So they sent the only Eridian crazy enough to go out into space alone, named Stella by Dr Grace many years ago. Her ship is outfitted with an evacuation bay, with many human amenities and a vacuum chamber between it and the rest of the ship incase they need to enter eachother's atmosphere. It's also equipped with speakers that look more like lazer guns. As it enters the atmosphere the zenonite glows brightly, heating up greatly, but it cools back off before it gets too close. A sound, clearly an eridian voice, can be heard through the speakers but seems to speed up, quickly getting high pitched and then silence, the effects of the sound through the atmosphere visible as the wave collapses into a plasma ball that shoots forwards towards the covenant ship, aiming for it's weapons to stop it from doing damage, not a lethal shot necessarily but it could be. The heat in the atmosphere after the shot is noticable, but not dangerous
The covenant super carrier drift starboard as it takes a hit on its central plasma cannon. Down on the ground, in the middle of a large plane, next to a crashed Pelican, the Master Chief and Blue Team were defending their position and protecting civilians from covenant forces for as long as they can.
Chief ran down the halls of the Infinity, rifle loaded in case of combat. Roland reported a mysterious woman just appearing in the Pelican hanger and Chief was ordered to investigate. Running into the hanger he saw the woman, so he slowed down and aimed his rifle at her. âFreeze! Hands up!â He ordered.

Bryana raised her hands. Cocking her head to the side.
âI am unarmed. I mean you no harm.â Her voice is cool and calm.
âMight I ask where I am?â She asks arching a brow.
âIdentify yourself first maâam. How did you get on board this ship?â He asked coolly. The olive green armor giving away nothing of body language, and the helmet masking his face. The only identifier is the number 117 stenciled on the left bicep of the armor. ďżź
âI am Doctor Bryana Mattix of the USS Guardian. I am the shipâs councillor. We represent the united federation of planets.â She says calmly.
âYou may check and see that I am unarmed. It is illogical to assume I could attack through your armour. Especially given that I have taken the hypocratic oath.â
âThere is no United Federation of Planets.â Chief said confused. âItâs the United Nations Space CommandâŚRoland!â Chief barked at a nearby table. An orange hologram of a man in mid-twentieth century pilotâs gear appeared above it, standing at around a foot tall. âGet Doctor Halsey down here, stat.â He ordered.
âSheâs already on her way Chief.â Roland said, not disappearing as he looked at the newcomer.
Thereâs a Quick Look of shock that ripples across the womanâs calm face. Before being immediately replaced with a mask of calm.
âUnited Nations⌠I see. What year is it?â She asks her voice still cool and calm.
â2558.â Chief answered coolly. âWhy? What year was it for you?â
â2266⌠this canât be right⌠perhaps⌠itâs not unheard of of course⌠how advanced is your exploration of parallel universes?â She asks. Moving her hands down to clasp calmly in front of her.
âAnd do pardon me for asking. But what planet are you from?â
âReach.â Chief answered.
âYouâll have to forgive him, heâs not used to socializing.â An older woman with one arm wearing a doctorâs coat said moving around the Chief. âAs for exploration of different universes, itâs all theoretical at the moment, besides Slipspace.â She said walking towards Bryana and getting a needle out. âI need to do a blood test, to make sure youâre not carrying a virus. May I?â She asked indicating her arm. And before Bryana had a chance to answer, Halsey jabs the needle in to her arm.
âI have not heard of reach⌠is that a colony? What species are-â
She flinches and pulls away from the needle.
âWhere is your hypo-â she takes a deep breath as if calming herself.
âYou do not have my consent to use that for anything other than determining illness. I would like to stay with it till it is properly disposed of. Are you all human? This is important.â Bryana says seriously.
âYes. Weâre all human here.â Halsey said slowly.
âWell, Iâm not.â Roland piped in. âNameâs Roland. Iâm the shipâs AI.â He introduced himself in a friendly tone.
âYouâreâŚnot human?â The Chief asked slowly. âWhat are you then? You donât look like any of the alien races Iâve met.â
âI am part human. My other part is Vulcan. Though if my calculations are correct. You will not have my planet here. Which poses a very unfortunate problem for me. That I would like to speak privately to a doctor about if you donât mind Doctor Halsey.â Bryana frowns marginally.
âWould we have to quarantine you?â Halsey asked raising an eyebrow. ďżź
âThat would depend on your ability to get me home within six days.â Bryana replies. âCan we speak privately Doctor?â
âCertainly, afterwards however youâll have to meet Captain Laskey.â Halsey said walking away. âWell? Come on.â She said looking back at her. âJohn will escort us down to the medbay, but heâll stand guard outside it so we have some privacy.â
âYes maâam.â Chief said with a nod.
Bry nods. And follows. Her knuckles turning white as she clasps her hands together. Her face. Struggling to remain calm. The sheen of sweat on her face becoming more visible as they enter the medbay.
The chief stands guard outside the door and Halsey walks in after Bry. Roland appearing over another empty table. âI know you said you wanted privacy maâam, but weâre on a heightened state of alert right now, I have to monitor everything.â He explained apologetically as Halsey brought their guest a cup of coffee.
âSo, I assume thereâs a medical condition?â Halsey asked inquisitively. âI take it youâre perspiring at an unusual rate for your species.â
âVulcans do not perspire. My human half is doing the perspirationâŚâ Bryana replies. âThis is an extremely private and personal medical matter. I mean you no harm at all.â She sounds exasperated.
âThough you do not have Vulcans here. Which means I will have to explain everythingâŚâ she sighs. Turning a bit green.
âYou see⌠it⌠has to do with biology⌠and⌠the continuation of the Vulcan speciesâŚâ she goes more green. Itâs clear this is akin to blushing.
âIt is illogical to be embarrassed. Forgive me. My culture used to be very violent. But through meditation and training we have learned over the years to control our baser urges. If you understand my meaning⌠however. This is through repression. And much as with humans. Repressed emotion cannot be held forever. So every seven years. We go through a state. In which we must be transported home. For everyoneâs safety. Including my own. Or I will perish. PainfullyâŚâ sheâs staring at the ground.
âSo basically itâs a hormonal imbalance from going into heat that could prove fatal.â Halsey said scientifically. âHow long does your species live?â She asked curiously. âAnd, is it possible to suppress these urges chemically?â
Bryana nods.
âEssentially yes. On average at least two centuries. I am very young for my species. This was to be my first time experiencing the Pon Farr. The blood fever. No. It is not. Only through finding a mate. Or fighting for one has the fever ever been stopped.â She sighs.
âMy ship was on its way home so I could take a mate. As I had been promised already.â She shivers.
âI am already two days into the eight day period. At the end of the eighth. I will die.â
âSo we essentially have six days left to fight it out.â Halsey said sitting in a chair and leaning back.
âWell, weâre at war with a rogue AI that has figured out a way to overcome our seven year lifespan and has promised to share that info with any ai that follows her. Oh, and she has an army of combat AIâs that are built into ancient alien robots that can teleport in anywhere.â Roland interjected. âThink she might get an opportunity to fight it out then?â
Bry nods. âMore like five.â
âThe Seven year lifespan is for the artificial intelligence? Not yourselves? You all look much older than seven years old.â
âNo. I do not wish to kill any of you. And the only way for the ritual combat to work is by killing another. Youâll kill me first please.â Bry frowns.
âNo.â Halsey said with a laugh. âItâs the ai that have the seven year lifespan. No we humans live to about a hundred to a hundred fifty years.â She added with a sigh. âWhat I wouldnât give for the lifespan of a Sangheili. They live for about two hundred years, like your species do apparently.â
She shakes her head. âItâs a curse. You see so many you love die. My father⌠he hated it.â Bryana looks down at her hands. âMy mother died when I was much younger he loved her. As much as a Vulcan is able.â
She shakes her head as if to clear it.
âYou are losing to machines? Perhaps I can help you while I am here. I have often been called a machine. Vulcans are very logical. Perhaps thereâs something youâve missedâŚâ she shivers again teeth almost chattering. A bead of sweat trickles down her face.
âP-perhaps. This isnât the ideal timeâŚâ
âItâs not that simple maâam.â Roland said sheepishly. âCortanaâs got access to a repository called the Domain, and from there she can control her army anywhere in the galaxy. Our technologyâs not advanced enough to cut her off.â
âWhat we need to do is lure her into a trapâŚâ Halsey said thoughtfully. âI still have friends in whatâs left of the Office of Naval Intelligence that might be able to help⌠anyway, Iâd like to run a few tests if thatâs alright. Maybe since our universe is different, our medical technologyâs different from yours, so we might be able to help without having to find a mate or get you into a fight.â
Bry opens her mouth. About to suggest she build them some advanced tech. Before remembering the prime directive.
âYour technology is definitely different.â Bryana replies. âAs are your customs certainly. How many alien species have you interacted with? In fact if you have any history books I could peruse that would be helpful. Technological information as well.â
âSeven different species.â Halsey said after thinking for a moment. âThey were led by a religious organization called the Covenant. They nearly destroyed humanity.â
âI was still being made when Chief and the Arbiter ended the war five years ago.â Roland added in.
âBut yes, history books and other reading material should be possible.â Halsey finished her thought.
âFascinating. Such a small amount. And how far have you explored into space from earth?â Bryana asks. Eyebrow raising.
âAh yes. Religion is often the enemy of logic.â She muses.
âStill being made? Elaborate.â
âMaâam, Iâm an ai. Iâm a smart ai. It takes time to build my data chip, and program my base subroutines.â Roland said slowly. âAnd in exchange for being a smart logic machine, I think myself to death around my seventh birthday.â
âI agree with you about religion.â Halsey said with a nod. âThe covenant worshiped an alien species that went extinct millions of years ago, the Forerunners. They were more advanced than we are now and ruled over the galaxy millions of years ago.â
âYou only keep your computers seven years? Why?â Bry asks.
She nods. âI ought to get studying. However I should do my very best to try and figure out a way home. Do you have any sensor readings from when I arrived?â
âItâs not by choice maâam. We AIâs only have so much memory space, the more we use, the closer to death we are. Our circuits begin to degrade and we canât fully control ourselves.â Roland explained.
âIâll make sure the sensor logs are in your reading material.â Halsey said kindly as a man in his early 30âs wearing a gray uniform walks in.
âHalsey. Maâam.â He said giving each of them a respectful nod. âIâm Captain Thomas Laskey. Roland tells us youâre from a different universe?â
Bry nods. âExcellent. Iâll see to it I read themâŚâ
âYes I am. Presumably. It could be stranger than that I havenât reviewed the data. Itâs a pleasure to meet you captain. I am Bryana Mattix the councillor for the USS Guardian. A spaceship that is predominantly for exploration and the betterment of all life. We are three years into our mission.â She smiles tensely.
âI think I ought to go meditate now.â
âSheâs in a mating cycle.â Halsey said simply as she got up.
âOhâŚof course.â Captain Laskey said awkwardly. âChief!â He ordered, and the green armored man stepped in.
âSir.â He said simply.
âOur guest need some quarters, I think one of the empty officer quarters will do for now.â He said simply. He then looked at Bry. âIf you need anything, just ask Roland.â He said before walking out of the room.
âWhen youâre ready maâam, Iâll take you where you need to go.â Chief offered, his almost robotic voice trying to give a kind sound to it.
âThat! Is private information doctorâŚâ Bryana huffs.
âThank you. Iâm ready.â She replies to Chief. Sheâs quite green.
âAnd as shipâs captain, he has a right to know.â Halsey explained calmly. âIâm sure the doctors in your universe tell their captains about circumstances such as this.â
Chief nods and walks out the door, expecting her to follow.
Chief ran down the halls of the Infinity, rifle loaded in case of combat. Roland reported a mysterious woman just appearing in the Pelican hanger and Chief was ordered to investigate.

Itâs clear this is akin to blushing.

âNo.â Halsey said with a laugh. âItâs the ai that have the seven year lifespan.

Youâll kill me first please.â Bry frowns.

âSheâs already on her way Chief.â Roland said, not disappearing as he looked at the newcomer.
That I would like to speak privately to a doctor about if you donât mind Doctor Halsey.â Bryana frowns marginally.
âWould we have to quarantine you?â Halsey asked raising an eyebrow. ďżź
