okaaaay so as literally 0 people know I have been hopelessly obsessed with @mossystars‘s band camp au for camp camp (and by hopelessly obsessed I mean I stare at the ceiling for a good ten minutes every night thinking about how much I love it,, its probably unhealthy)

so obviously I had to draw fanart please excuse my warrior cats phase my humans aren’t up to par but!!!!!!still!!!! I think it turned out well ?? :,0 never try to draw chain link by hand yall it isn’t worth it

id think this is when pine regiment has their first football game and max is blown away by everything and that’s when he realizes how much he wants the band to succeed yaaay

BAND CAMP CAMP

Soooo marching band au??? Here’s what everyone plays-

Max: Originally snare. Band needed a drum major, and was forced to do it cuz he was best fit. He soon loved it.

Nikki: Piccolo. Originally hated it and thought it was too girly, but not only did it keep her out of color guard with the ‘flower scouts’ but she was in the same section Ered was in, and she made flute seem cool. Plus she could deaf people if need be with that thing.

Neal: Clarinet. Old and breaks easy so he’s always got a tool kit on hand and tinkering with it. Hates the thing and swears it has a mind of its own when he’s playing, but for some reason it plays beautifully when he’s calm and into the music.

Harrison: Saxophone. Like playing weird shit, Too many Zooz is his jam.

Preston: Oboe. Refused to switch to another instrument for marching band, and doesn’t march, plays in the pit. Furiously tries out for every solo ever, super critical on others playing.

Nerris: Euphonium. Liked the deep sounds of the brass instrument, makes he feel powerful playing it. She claims the band would be nothing without he low brass supported. (She’s right for the most part)

Ered: Flute. Actually super talented, one of the best players in band. Duels sometimes playing xylophone if needed.

Nurf: Tuba. Hates tuba player stereotypes. Only plays it for support during marching season, otherwise playing trumpet. Ered taught him how to play flute after practice once.

Dolf: Bugle. Will play trumpet if bribed, and is good at it.

Space kid: Bass drum. Loves playing it. His personal drum kit has different planets painted on each drum.

Flower Scouts: All color guard. David never dares to guide them in anyway, even as band director.

Wood Scouts: Various percussion. All actually p good, just extremely cocky. Max haaaates having to work with them on timing, always slightly off cuz they think they are too good to watch a drum major.

David & Gwen: Co-directors. Trying to build a marching band from the ground up. Gwen as originally the band teacher for elementary schoolers, but bailed as soon as she saw a new band teacher opening up. No more deafening recorders. David is well established in composing music, and helped direct a couple bands before, but never had one of his own. He was introduced to a ragtag group of band kids in need of a director with a shit school budget and old instruments to match. Turns out they ran off many directors and needed to be ‘whipped into shape’.

-Once when the band podium wasn’t put away properly, it slipped and fell on Preston. He still has a scar on his leg from it and considers it “battle scars”. He will retell the harrowing tale with much drama whenever anyone remotely mentions the band podium. 

-David is the director who prefers not to use a metronome, and instead will hit a wood block for hours on end to keep time. Gwen doesn’t have the patience for it. 

-During early morning practices, David is the ray of sunshine that everyone hates. He’s ready to run twenty laps around the field and still be in a good mood. 

-During warm-up and stretching, Tabbii tries to show off her flexibility and flirt with Neil. He always tries to ignore her as best he can. On the other hand, the Woodscouts are terribly inflexible and everyone laughs at them. 

-Pikeman has a furious rivalry with Max. As one of the few drummers not in the Woodscouts click, he is immediately outcast. It worsens when he becomes Band Major since Pikeman was vying for the position. 

-The Flowerscouts like to play a game and “accidentally” hit the band members with their equipment to earn points. David is the ultimate target. No one touches Neil to not induce Tabbii’s rage.

-Space Kid is the one that can never remember what line marker he’s supposed to stand on. The others get annoyed by it very easily. 

-Preston has the best facials (especially when the show is narrative and not just conceptual). 

-One time, David tried to design a show about bullying, but when the kids had to act out a bullying scene, Nerf just shouted at one of the flower scouts to “move out of the way c***”. David was horrified. 

-Harrison is the one kid that plays meme songs in-between runs. All of the kids cringe when they hear the first few notes of a band rendition of Jurassic Park’s theme. 

-The first day of band camp, Max didn’t wear sun screen because he doesn’t burn easily. He quickly realized his mistake and doused himself in it the next time. 

-After a particularly good marching band season, Principal Campbell allowed a winterguard season that year. David enthusiastically agreed. 

-Daniel is a marching band judge and for some reason he absolutely wants to see David and Gwen’s band crash and burn. He judges them even more harshly than he does the other teams. They’re all dismayed when they find out he also judges for the winter season. 

MORE BAND CAMP CAMP
