No. 1: Pokemon: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (ORAS)

I shouldn’t have to explain this, but I want to.

Pokemon was and still is my childhood. I cherish the series like crazy. They were the only reason I got a GBA growing up, and even after losing my copies of both Ruby and Sapphire, I kept up to date on the new Pokemon for Gen 4 and 5 via the internet. I only got back into Pokemon with X, and I love it to pieces. over 700 hours have been clocked in on X, and it was nothing less than an absolute blast!

sigh...

and then Alpha Sapphire came out, and because of it, X is now backup data on my 3DS, to make more room for Alpha Sapphire.

No. 4: Mario Kart 8

What can I say? It's Mario Kart pretty much at it's absolute finest.

I won't lie. I didn't like Mario Kart 7. Now don't get me wrong, Mario Kart 7 was and still is an excellent game. The gameplay was just as fun as ever, the tracks were very well done, and the customizable karts were a great new feature. However, there is one big thing that made me hate playing it, and that's the controls. The Circle Pad is just not made for racing games, and it only makes me wish Nintendo would make a 3DS, or even a 2DS, with the Wii U's or GameCube's control stick.

Mario Kart 8 fixed this issue immediately for me. On top of that, the game is just all around a blast!

  It's fast, frantic and fun, like any Mario Kart game should be. The online lets me attempt to crush Scram and his stupid little bug car, and the bikes are back, being far better balanced with the karts for a more fair game.

No. 5: Five Nights at Freddy's (1 & 2)

Before I even touched either of these games, I knew they were going to be on the list. These games are responsible for about six months of on-and-off insomnia for me, as I have a huge fear of things popping up in my face, and a lot of it was, as I said, before I had played either of the games.Only around mid-late November, did I finally play FNAF2...

The second I saw Toy Chica was down the main hall, I hit esc, and I haven't touched either games since...

So yeah, I lasted about 2 minutes before noping out... ^ ^;;

so WHY are they on my list?!!

Easy. First off, the concept is pure genius. Anyone who grew up with Chuck E. Cheese and it's similars in the 80's-mid 2000's will have memories of the animatronic characters, whether they are good or bad. So it's based on something a lot of people know from their childhood, myself included.

Secondly, the game's story is a beautiful mystery, spinning a freaky little tale of five kids who were killed and supposedly stuffed into the animatronic characters' suits. It's a story that has had many creating tons of possible theories to things such as who killed the kids, with the only clues given being from occasional post-death minigames in FNAF2 that are assumed to be the restaurant's previous loactions.

Third, it's fanbase. There are some amazing pieces of fanmade media out there, like music, art, and animation. It's all very well done, and some of the art especially makes the characters super cute and harmless, and I really like that stuff! >w<

Yeah, they're very overhyped, they're a bit predictable, and the graphics aren't phenominal, but for their pretty reasonable price tags of $5 for FNAF and $8 for FNAF2, they are very nice little stress management games that I'd recommend at least trying.

So let me explain.

There will be two lists. The first list will comprise of my favorite games that were released in 2014, while the second list will be comprised of games that have been out for a while, but I didn't play until 2014.

The first list will be pretty strict, though, as I was only able to play the new Nintendo stuff and a few Steam games, because I don't own an Xbone, PS4, or a crazy, high-end computer for Steam.

I AM however counting a few re-releases on the best of 2014, simply because I felt they were different enough to be their own thing.

I want to apoligize for the absolute lack of updates these last few weeks, folks. Don't worry, I'm fine, but I am and have been taking a break from Petal for a few weeks because:

I've been worn out from work.

I'm currently in the process of preparing a very big, very important and VERY permanent move from my homestate of New York.

I'm starting to burn out from all the ponies, and am trying to experiment with other things.

I'm a tired, lazy sack of dog dookie.

I hate doing this to you all, but right now, I just want to chill, prepare to move, finish a couple commissions in my log, and also, have a lil' fun, because with Smash, Bayonetta 2, ORAS and Hyrule Warriors on the way, and Wonderful 101 downloading as we speak, I want to give my Wii U and 3DS some lovin', as well as recharge on ideas for updates.
