so here’s a slightly better rundown of my little Basil-POV AU

MARZENIE as opposed to HEADSAPCE

Headspace is … at least mostly a VOLUNTARY experience that Sunny is pretty chill about, headspace is an escape, a paradise

Marzenie on the other hand is completely involuntary, Basil doesn’t want to be there but he ends up there anyway, this is largely a guilt complex- Marzenie is bad because Basil thinks he deserves that, to be trapped in a world of torment is only his punishment, the only way to make up for what he did, Marzenie isn’t really ‘designed’ either, headspace has had multiple iterations and has had to replace characters when things go wrong, Marzenie on the other hand has been a developing constant for Basil since about a year after the incident, a place that gradually evolved as his mental state became worse and worse, but when I say it’s not ‘designed’ I mean to imply that Sunny (or omori?) very intentionally crafted their idea of who the characters should BE in headspace, Marzenie characters are based upon Basil’s unconscious views on people. If you’re a monster in marzenie that’s not his fault, he didn’t do that on purpose

also, I was wondering if there are any ships in your au, whether it’s involved much in the au or not? :P (asking bc I thought I caught some potential sunflower vibes when reading the post about Sol lol-)

Ahhh! Tysm!!!! To answer the question, YES, sunflower is intended to be canon within this au, much of the writing I do assumes that Basil has some extra-friendship feelings about Sunny, in at least two of marzenies endings they end up together

Additionally I even have a little ship name for Marze and Sol specificity, I call em dollbranches <3 (doll for soul, dead branches for Marze) I have no reason to have done this I just thought it was neat

The other two definitively canon ships are heromari and Kimbrey because I just think of those as canon normally and there’s no reason they shouldn’t be in Marzenie too right? (I actually once drew Marzenie’s heromari, ShatterSwarm, and while it isn’t in the master post it is fairly recent in the tag so it shouldn’t be hard to find)

Oh hi!! I do answer ooc questions here too and this is a really good one so I’m happy to answer!

Marzenie is the polish word for dream, I chose it because part of Marzenie’s lore (if you can call it that) has to do with Basil being polish, it’s not terribly crucial but it does come up with certain character designs and particularly in his relationship with his grandma, whom he calls ‘babica’ (polish for grandma)

Now I don’t speak polish so when it’s used in Marzenie it might be a little off, but I I’ve checked and ‘Marzenie’ is a pretty direct translation

Ok so I feel the need to explain this for In case someone happens upon it-

I’m Danny! Or @dannybobany if you will, And this- This is Marzenie! An omori au that explores the idea of Basil having a “headspace” in a way I think is most artistically appropriate to his character! (‘Marzenie’ is the headspace of course and ‘where’ this ask blog is focused.. although once I figure out some of the rw stuff..l ANYWAY, welcome to Basil’s nightmare headspace where you can ask a little deer persona of him questions and also the other roaming creatures!! Ain’t it fun??)

Some other things I’d like to clarify for the sake of this AU:

Some elements of this AU deviate pretty far from canon for the sake filling in blank information

This AU is meant to take place simultaneously with omori, it’s just that all of it is from Basils perspective and… you know. His little nightmare-space

‘Marze’ in this AU is not to same thing to Basil as Omori is to Sunny, Marze is not a separate entity in any capacity (consider ‘Marze’ a costume of sorts that Basil wears when traversing his dream world)
